I have been using this product for about 3 years. I absolutely love it! It does not wash away the moist of the skin, but it does not leave it oily either. Really good, and prevents my breakouts. I only use it twice a day, morning and at night. It is a bit expensive and as other avene products you cannot buy it anywhere, but it is so worth it.
I bought this cleanser after reading all the impressive reviews, and that was over 9 months ago. Yes, this lasted me 9 months with daily usage. Although the product may seem slightly expensive at first, I can truly say this is definitely valur for money.
This cleanser is mild, non-drying and works really well for my oily skin. My skin rarely misbehaves when I am using this. It lathers well and leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed without any residue. This does have a slight 'masculine' scent but after several uses it becomes less noticeable.
I have nothing to complain about with this cleanser so it deserves its 5 lippies. Thank you MUA for helping me find another HG product!
I've been using this product for about 2 months now. Before this i was using an AHA cleanser which was probably too harsh that it caused my t-zone to be super oily and my cheeks to dry out. In desperation i switched to this Avene cleanser after reading some good reviews about it. After using it for a week, i noticed that my skin did improved a little as my t-zone was not as oily as before and my cheeks were not as flaky. It's definately a much gentler cleanser than my AHA cleanser. After a week, the pimples on my chin were getting smaller but i also started to break out on my forehead. This is a gentle cleanser that does help to control oil production a little but i don't think it cleanses well enough for me. I think it works better when i use an oil based makeup remover before it to cleanse my face first. It's not doing much for my face and i will probably not buy it again.
i've been using this product for just under a week.
unlike a lot of the reviews here, i find that this product has a pleasant smell that i look forward to (i actually think i'm becoming addicted to its fragrance).
it has a weird consistency unlike anything i've used before. it's a gel and it's quite sticky to the touch. i've been using anywhere from a dime sized amount to a nickel.
it's a wee bit difficult to spread on as i like to mix it up a bit in my hands before applying it to my face. but then it lathers just as well as any other cleanser.
i leave it on for around 20 seconds after massaging it in.
then when i rinse, i always feel refreshed, smooth and clean.
it hasn't caused me any dryness as of yet and i'm only using a hugo boss self-tanner for my moisturizer.
my skin is usually pretty reactive and besides the initial purging that it's doing i must admit it looks pretty decent considering past experiences.
i'll give this product 2 weeks before i'm back to report.
did anyone else get a moderately bad purging stage while using this product?
i'm also using avene thermal water as a toner/prep for moisturizer.
(P.S. I'm a guy, by the way).
Frankly, I'm not a huge fan. And that despite absolutely loving Avène products. I used to use Bioderma Sébium and decided to get this after I ran out, since it looked like the Avène version of the same type of thing--gentle cleanser for acne-prone skin. Well, I really wish I had stayed with Bioderma, which I loved. First, this stuff does not lather very well, and feels oily and heavy, as if a residue is left behind, while skin oils aren't really dissolved and skin does not feel fully cleansed. I suppose one might say that's just imagination/personal preference, but what is undeniably true is that it has dried out my usually oily skin to the point where I am getting scaly white patches all around my mouth and chin (sorry, yucky, but true). While the surface is still greasy, as another reviewer has mentioned. Second, I have been getting a new type of acne--minuscule bumps that look like clogged pores but that take forever to clear up. And I seriously think they are due to the residue left by this stuff, as I haven't changed anything else in my routine, and like I said, my acne is usually different. So, I think I might try using this as a bodywash, and switching cleansers... Needless to say, will not buy again.
I first got a sample of this from a SA after raving about all the avene products I've tried and loved and she told me how amazing this cleanser was. So I tried it for a few days and bought the full sized bottle today. I have super sensitive acne prone skin. It's not really oily but I usually do get a bit shiny on my t-zone. However, after using this for a few days I have noticed that my t-zone is normal and the cleanser has not dried out or irritated my skin. I love the smell so much although I do see that many people are not exactly as fond of it as I am, and it's really up to personal preference. I like it so much that when I was at my research meeting I actually found myself sniffing my fingers cause they still smelled of this cleanser from washing my face earlier haha. I think it smells really nice and fresh. Usually, I use the micellar cleansing lotion to take off makeup, then I wash my face with this cleanser and spray my face with the thermal water. I take off my contacts while I'm waiting for that to absorb into my skin, then pat it dry. After that, I use my avene skin recovery cream and I'm done. This routine has been a miracle for my face. My skin looks so even and glowy and I no longer have any pimples on my face (and that's a HUGE deal) and my skin is no longer itchy with dry peeling patches (ew!). So far I've spent over $100 on avene products but because my skin loves them so much I find that I don't even miss the money haha. Will definately keep rebuying.
EDIT: Still a HG cleanser. All of my skin care products (except my toner) are avene and the combination of everything I'm using has saved my skin from eczema sores on my face! yuck! I now have flawless skin and am always being complemented on it! It's now to a point where no one can tell if I'm wearing foundation or not so sometimes I just skip the foundation and put on blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, etc.. LOVE AVENE!
first of all, i don't like the scent. then it's too drying. i have oily skin in summer but this dries it out, too. left me in wonder because my derm highly recommends this
I have used this cleanser in the past and it has been ok for me but nothing special. The last months my skin had a beak out and I did'nt know what to do to improve my complexion. Then I thought to buy this soapless cleanser, which proved to be very gentle on my skin and it did'nt dried it at all. I think that this product is much better and cheaper than others that I have used (lancome, Estee Lauder etc.).
I bought this as part of a bundled package - there was a S$10 off the package promotion & I just jumped.
This is interestingly not hash on the skin as i always expected it to be - ACNE cleanser should be very "hard" working? Well not this one. It does leave a residue - took one lippie off - but the kind i can live with - no chemical smells & all just nice!
Excellent product. It cleaned my face very well and didn’t dry out my skin a bit (which many cleansers often tend to do). I dislike the packaging, because it is difficult to squeeze out all of the product, since it thickens a bit during time.
