I bought this the other day, and I can't believe I've never worn olive eyeshadow before. This is a tricky colour to get right, so you've got to be quite warm skinned to pull it off! It looks beautiful with brown and hazel eyes.

I love this color. You don't even have to do it up with this. I've worn this alone with just mascara & it looks amazing. By far my favorite shade from MAC. I have paired this with a smokey black and also with Woodwinked and it looks gorgeous. It's such a pretty color and really brings out my grey eyes. I love having shades that can be worn alone since I'm a mother of a 3 month old and don't always have the time to spend doing a lot with my makeup. I'll repurchase this color over and over again. I hope so much that it doesn't end up discontinued as MAC is always switching products in and out. continued >>

I know I should love this...but I don't :/ For brown eyes this would be ideal but the green clashes with my cool toned skin I don't know why. It makes me look kind of sickly. More importantly, this is the only MAC e/s that irritates my eyes like crazy and makes them water. I have no idea why I own a ton of MAC e/s and this is the only one that consistently irritates my eyes. The texture is amazing though and it blends really well. It's just not for me : /

Um, why haven't I reviewed this yet?! One of my all-time favorites. I have to say though that on my lids it does not look as olive as in the pan since I do have olive undertones. It is more of a dirty gold, but the oliveness is definitely noticable, too. Gorgeous all over the lid or in the crease (although I prefer using it as a lid color) with a great number of different shades.

This is quite a pretty colour-- gold with a hint of green, as the name suggests, and that gives it an antique/varnish look. Judging by the comments and my own experience, this seems to look better on lighter skin tones than mine (reference, about NC40). I find that I need to pack this colour on, or use it on a base of a gold shade, to bring out the green, oddly enough. I always use MAC paint as a primer (or occasionally UD PP because I have a sample size). I do love it, but I have to work it a bit more to have the same results as those with lighter skin. I must admit I'm surprised by this because those with brown skin can wear most colours and they show up pretty well...but once layered on another shade, using primer, Sumptuous Olive is a subtle but very complementary colour on me. Being a MAC veluxe pearl eyeshadow, most here already know the quality of the colour, the richness and texture, and S.O. is certainly consistent with that. I may repurchase depending on how quickly I go through this one.
I have medium olive skin and thought Sumptuous Olive (SO) would be perfect for my skintone. I was right, it looks very pretty on and I like to pair this with Femme Fi and Patina for a low key day time eye. Because I'm about NC40 at the moment, SO doesn't show up on my skin that well even w/ primer. I have to apply a few layers to have it show up. I love the formula of this shadow and the unique depth it brings. SO is olive green with a warm touch of golden brown. On me, the golden brown shows up as the dominant color and the olive green shows more when light hits it.

I was on the fence about purchasing this eyeshadow as I don't wear alot of greens on my eyes and wasn't sure if I'd get the use out of it, but boy was I wrong! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! One of my favourite MAC eyeshadows that I own now :) It's a gorgeous golden olive shade which really brings out the green in my hazel eyes. I wear it with Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner in ivy shimmer ink which is a forest green and it is a match made in heaven! Love it<3 continued >>

Sumptuous Olive is probably my favorite MAC shadow that I own. It is smooth, pigmented, blends well and is long lasting. I use it all kinds of ways but I LOVE it on my lower lash line with Cork on my lid. Looks amazing.

I have found a new faviorite! I recently decided I was going to try and review all of my eye shadows and other makeup. I'm glad I decided to do this because I have been able to discover some new favorite eye shadows out of my stash. Everytime I have tried to use sumptuous olive in the past I have had a tan, and everytime I hated s.o. because it looked so drab on my skin. The color just didn't show up much and the little color that did looked like a plain tan/kaki without much of a green color at all. For some reason having a tan or being darker really changes my skin coloring drastically. I'm not as tan so my skin isn't as olive/golden as it was so this eye shadow really looks soooo different in a good way! It actually shows up on my skin instead of blending in. The olive duochrome can be picked up on and the gold as well. Now it looks like a dirty gold with green duochrome. When used in the crease it looks more bronze/brown. Such a beautiful color!!! I can actually put this all over my lid and go it looks that good! ...and to think this eye shadow actually used to make me look tired!

This is my favorite eyeshadow, it's a chrome green/brown, it looks like a very browned green, and is a very wearable green that brings out my brown eyes, and will definitely bring out anyones green eyes as the colours green and brown definitely compliment eachother.
The quality of the eyeshadow itself is great, as it's very pigmented and smooth with little to no fallout I definitely reccommend this to anyone it's perfect alone, with a matte brown in the crease or with a black winged eyeliner.
