I bought this in spite of the jumbo size tube. It's like those crayons for kids that are huge and chunky (They should call it My First Mascara!). But I would put up with that if it: 1) Worked and, 2) Didn't smudge. That is all I ask. But I ask too much. It does look fine, but it leaves rings under my eyes after only a couple of hours. I don't even wear mascara on my lower lashes, and I didn't subject the mascara to unusual conditions. I'm glad it was cheap because I am throwing it away.
While searching for a waterproof mascara for the fall, I stumbled upon Rimmel Scandal Eyes Flex Mascara and decided to try it because, well, not only was it relatively inexpensive to begin with, but it was also on sale.
Now, this "sale" mascara, is my favourite mascara in my makeup bag! (even over my waterproof compositions). It's cheap and accessible, long and lengthening, thick and dramatic- and the only real problem is, it makes my eyelashes SO LONG that the tips touch my upper lid and I have to grab makeup remover afterward, but in a way, I guess that's a good thing!
No primer. No curler. Just the mascara!
The formula for Scandal Eyes seems fine. The brush is not so good.
I don't have small eyes at all, but this brush was way too big for me. It's a massive fluffy brush. I can apply it to part of my lashes (the middle lashes on top). I can't reach into the inner and outer corners - or bottom lashes without getting mascara all over my eyes. The brush is just too chunky to fit into small spaces.
The formula itself seems nicely pigmented and smooth, but to be honest...I didn't use it on bottom lashes because it was just too messy with the huge brush. I also touched up corners with another brand to save time.
I finally got frustrated and tossed it in the bin.
My absolute favorite mascara! Doesn't flake or smudge, gives amazing length and fullness. Gives similar effect to diorshow blackout but cheaper and better
Good length and volume. With one coat it is fairly subtle that much, but with a second coat you will notice lots more drama-length and fullness-it's very buildable.
Because it is so buildable I can apply second coats over the previous coat later in the day without any major stiffness or clumping (many mascaras get disgusting with re=application), and when I first put it on in the morning I can build it up a lot and still have nice lashes.
I used the orange Scandal Eyes and that one didn't have enough length for me (I like very big lashes). If you are curious I think this Scandal Eyes is better than the original.
The downsides are that the brush is very big so I have to be careful to avoid getting it on my brow bone or face.
Also, it takes a while to dry, so if I am not careful for a few minutes I can end up with a smear. But once it dries I notice it stays put well.
I got some compliments on this one. Not quite HG (I don't like the brush that much but my favorite mascara ever which is not Rimmel irritates my eyes) but this one is one of the best mascaras I can use. Pretty dramatic and buildable so overall I would recommend!
I am a little disappointed by this mascara considering the fact that I had heard such great reviews from my friends and I LOVE the packaging but hey, you can't judge a book by it's cover. When I had first opened the mascara I was like "AWESOME. THE BRUSH IS HUGE. IT'LL MAKE MY LASHES LOOK FAKE!" Au contraire. I found out soon enough that looks are deceiving and this mascara wand did not do what it looks like it should do. First, the mascara did not add volume to my lashes. All it did was paint my lashes black. On that note, it does do fairly well when paired with another mascara or if you add a few more layers but, the mascara doesn't dry very fast so adding other layers without allowing time to dry will leave your lashes clumped. I will continue using it until it finishes because my mother bought it for me and I don't want to waste her money even though it was under $6 which is a fair price but I have used $1 mascara's by NYC that are WONDERFUL and I always replace after they are finished. This one I will not replace.
-update: This mascara completely dried out after only about a month of usage. Since it wasn't my favorite mascara in my bag and I didn't use it a lot, it should say a lot about how long this product lasts. I dislike this mascara sooo much.
Sigh, another one that left minute flakes under my eyes from my top lashes. I coat and 4 hrs later it looks like I have a bit of grey eyeshadow under my eyes.
It initially dropped my curl, so I had to recurl my lashes... which made them clump together... so I spent a minute with a clean brush "unsticking" them. After the second curl it held it semi-decent.
All in all- didn't like it.
Loved the look of the brush, but it is so huge that It makes a mess all over the place. Lids, under eyes--- I've never had to clean up so much after the application of a mascara!
Sadly, I'm still yet to find an HG mascara- and this did nothing. Nothing special. It did build up, but after 4-5 coats, which I don't have time for every day.
It's the worst mascara I've used since i was 15! (And trust me I've gone through many over the years) I bought it form a chemist because it was on special and I've been wanting to give it a go for a while. The texture is too thick and clump easily. And since my lashes are pretty thin my eyes turned out looking a bit like Kim kardashian's ( you know those spider lashes) I have to admit that it does some what give volume and lengthen lashes a bit but its Lycra formula (which suppose to make lashes soft) left lashes looking like you have misused your lash curler =(
This is my mascara! I am shocked how well this works for how cheap it is! It Never clumps, looks like fake lashes, and lasts all day! The big brush makes sure every lash is touched, and I buy this instead of expensive brand mascara now!
