I bought this on a whim.. I do admit it was my fault for not doing any research before purchasing this product. My skin is quite oily in the t-zone, so I am always looking for a mattifying foundation. I also have some post-acne scarring, so I do prefer a full coverage or medium foundation. I should have just known that this was going to be a fail right from the beginning.. the colour selection was all over the map, nothing seemed to fit my skin tone correctly, yet i still bought it hoping my powder would correct the colour a bit...
I was SO SO SOOOO excited to try it the next day. I woke up, washed, toned, and moisturized my face. Opened the bottle.. and was very pleased by the spatula idea.. however, i noticed that this foundation was strangely thick compared to when i tested at the store.. anyway.. i applied to my face and realized HOLY CRAP, this thing sets FAST. i could barelyyyy blend it in quick enough before it set. However, I got it blended in as well as I could, and set with powder.
I went to work not even a half hour later.. looked in the mirror.. and OMG WHAT THE HELL?! The foundation actually "blotched" up in orange blotches ALL OVER my face... it was absolutely horrifying. There were bare patches of my skin, an orange blobs. I took it off ASAP and reapplied with a different foundation.
I was so appalled,I brought it back to Walmart and demanded them to refund my money. I have NEVER, EVER seen a foundation like this.. it was horrible. Will NEVER repurchase again. Gave it 1 lippie because i LOVED the spatula idea and packaging.. however, terrifyingly horrible product. Never, ever again.

The only thing I like about this product is the very unique packaging. After finding this at Wal Mart I immediatly went home to try it out. I noticed my pale face had a very obvious tint of orange. I tried it again a few days later thinking maybe my skin was just dirty, no. I did not like this at all. I later bought another foundation and both look they exact same color, but when applied it DIDNT come off orange... this may be because im pale but the other foundation was my perfect color. So was this Rimmel one until it was applied. Very disappointed.
This foundation is good! It does what it's supposed to, which is even out your skintone. However the coverage is light so if you have not so good skin you may need concealer. It is a matte finish. You do not look 100% pore less, but it minimizes them. If you see this in the store, buy it to try it! Won't make a hole in your wallet, and you have a new foundation.
I went to Walgreens today and found this foundation on sale for ONLY $1.29....I have very sensitive skin, I just started to wear foundation. Currently I am wearing Maybelline Dream Mousse liquid foundation, it looks nice but it makes me break out and itchy sometimes, I do not use it everyday, but most days...I wanted something better!
Anyway, Clean Finish promesses 100% poreless, I dont have large pores, but this makes mine look better. It is been 7 hours that I applyed and it is not itchy or stinging my eyes. The coverage is not great, but works. I bought warm sand and think it looks a bit orange for my olive-pale face. I think I will purchase a lighter shade and mix it...
I have very sensitive skin so im prone to breaking out a lot when i use new products, especially foundations.
This foundation hasn't given me one bit of a problem.
No break outs since ive started using it.
I use olive oil as a moisturizer before i apply this foundation and it gives me a flawless finish.
Not too heavy, but still great coverage, especially for such a cheap price.
If you catch it on sale make sure to pick up a bottle.
Its worth a try. :)

This is a great foundation (especially for the price). To all the people having trouble with it blending/looking cakey, the trick is to dampen a makeup sponge, apply the foundation to the sponge, and then apply it to your skin. The dampness of the sponge will allow it to blend easily and once the foundation dries on your face it will be set all day. Makeup sponges are very cheap (I get them for 1$ at a dollar store). Just make sure you change out your sponge every week or wash it well with an antibacterial soap to prevent breakouts. Give this a try and see if it helps!
*EDIT* After some experimenting I've discovered that the way I like best to apply this foundation and not get clumpy while still maintaining a somewhat mattified feeling is to spread it on the back of my hand, add 1 or 2 drops of glycerine, spritz with water 3 or 4 pumps, mix well, apply to face with fingers or brush (i like fingers for this one). The glycerine keeps it wet long enough to spread nicely onto the skin and also keeps it from getting overly dry on the skin.**
original post:: I'm very oily and acne prone, so of course I wanted to try this foundation. I'm still very unsure about it and will be updating in future. But this is my first impression::
This foundation is hard to put on. It dries so fast and clumps if you massage it in too much. Various brushes and even fingers all left markings that once the foundation was dry were impossible to smooth out. I am unsure as to whether this was due to my moisturizer, application method, or something else. Primer vs No primer - didn't make a difference. I actually had to moisturize with a bit of almond oil and water in order to get the foundation on in a smooth looking finish, and even then there were still "patches" in the finish.
It does leave a light and dry feeling (even after my almond oil trick), similar to other oil-control foundations (like the Neutrogena SA foundation), and in this regard I find it very likeable. One would not need a powder with this until many hours into the day. However, as i say, I have yet to find a way to apply it that doesn't leave a clumpy mess. Would love to know if someone has a figured this out. ..
This was my very first foundation, as I always use a tinted moisturizer, and I really like it! I actually like the scent, it's not at all like the others that smell like paint.
My skin is oily/combo and this doesn't make me oily at all, and I can wear it all day. There is no SPF in it, so I do mix my TM with spf with it if I'm wearing it in the day.
Overall Rating: 4/5
SKIN BACKGROUND: Oily, acne prone, SUPER sensitive, mild scarring and discoloration, beige skin with dominant yellow undertones.
PRICE: $3.79! Such an amazing price for such a great makeup!
COVERAGE: I would say the coverage is definitely light- a light medium. It conceals most of my old acne scarring but doesn't do much for my big red blemishes.
FINISH: This stays true to its name. It has a great soft-powdered matte finish, and I don't even need to set it with powder. It DOES eliminate pores. It also sets REALLY fast. You think Revlon Colorstay sets fasts? Haha, no, the second you are done blending this out its DRY. So, I suggest using a damp brush or sponge to slow down the setting process.
TEXTURE: It is sort of thick and whipped, similar to the Revlon Whipped Creme Makeup, but not quite as decadent. It doesn't feel thick when applied the skin though.
SCENT: Yes, there is a slight scent, but nothing major.
SPF: None
LASTING POWER: This foundation DEFINITELY beat the original in this department. This last an impressively long amount of time. I apply it at 7:00AM and it has barely faded by 5:00PM.
SHADES: I got this in "True Ivory", the same shade as I got in the original Clean Finish. But for some reason, the shade in this formula is a LOT lighter, way too pale for me.This is why I took a lippie off. The shades are funky looking in the jar, but then a completely different color when on the skin. It also does not have a wide variety for those with deeper skin tones.
DID THIS BREAK ME OUT?: Nope!
PACKAGING: Packaging is the same as the original. Little glass bottle, with a plastic spatula connected to the lid to scoop the gelatinous product out. It comes with 1 ounce, which is, considering how little product you need for the entire face, a lot of product.
WOULD I REPURCHASE?: Yes, I think I might, in a darker shade :)
FINAL VERDICT: Definitely an improvement on the old Clean Finish! Definitely one of my top 10 favorite foundations.

A fantastic improvement on the original formula.. if the original was a bit to "moist" for you, as it was for me. Same smooth lightweight feel, super easy blending, fantastic paddle applicator, medium coverage. Sets better, no transfer, more of a satin finish, looks very natural, lasts at least 8hrs. A smidge darker than the exact same shade in the original formula, at least for my shade. I would say this is the best foundation available for the price (about $4).. and better than many that cost much more.
