I'm always a bit hesitant to buy (or waste money on) foundation brushes because the ones that I've bought over the years have either irritated my skin or not created the flawless, steak-free finish I want for my freckly complexion. Also, most brushes "absorb" and hold on to too much product, so I feel that I'm wasting money on foundation as well.
However, I really wanted to find a good quality foundation brush, so I thought I'd try this Real Techniques buffing brush which I'd seen in the Pixiwoo and Tanya Burr videos a million times.
I'm glad I did because this brush has given me what I've been searching for: flawless, streak-free coverage. This synthetic brush is super soft so it doesn't scratch/irritate my face yet it is firm and dense enough to create a streak-free look. Another great thing about this brush is that I'm able to transfer most of the product on to my face rather than the brush holding on to and "eating up" my expensive foundations.
Controlling the coverage is also really easy with this brush . I'm able to build coverage around my nose and mouth where I have a bit more redness but I can also thin it out in the outer areas where I need less coverage and want more of a natural look.
It is easy to wash and dries quickly. I washed mine last night but it was dry and ready for use this morning.
It works well with both light and heavy foundations.
This is a fantastic brush. I would definitely buy it again if i need a replacement.
i use a beauty blender for liquid and cream products, so i'm not sure how this brush would perform, but for powder it's excellent. it's big chunky brush with a high density of firm fibres and it makes fast work of applying powder and buffing. it's not quite as soft as my real hair brushes, but it does a brilliant job and i'm really glad i followed the reviews and tried it out.
i love using this brush with basically any liquid foundation - it does wonders with nars sheer glow and maybelline superstay. i have sensitive combination skin with an oily acne-prone t-zone, normal cheeks, and some small areas of dry, red eczema (aka a good old mess) and using my fingers or a flat brush is irritating. this brush is so soft and soothing, really works foundation into the skin but is also great for pressing it into areas which need more coverage. real techniques brushes are easy to clean and quick drying. i switch between this and the e.l.f. flat-top powder brush for my foundation but the real techniques one is softer and is in better condition than the e.l.f. one which is looking battered as hell!
I got this brush in the core collection. So thrilled real techniques is finally being sold in Canada! Yayy!! I don't use this for foundation though I use this to buff in my powder. It works lovely with Rimmel stay matte powder. I did try with foundation but it didn't work as well as the expert face brush does. The bristles r soooooo soft and the brush is super easy to clean.
This is the BEST brush I have ever used. I don't typically wear foundations but my skin is definitely far from perfect. I prefer tinted moisturizers over foundations and this buffing brush works wonders with the Nars Tinted Moisturizer and the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. It buffs it in beautifully and gives a look that you cannot get using a Beauty Blender, a Mac brush, your fingers, etc. The look is flawless and it makes makeup stay on better all day. After I use this buffing brush to apply my TM, I use Mac's studio fix concealer where I have more problem areas and apply it with a small Real Techniques brush, and I pop some Nars radiant creamy concealer under my eyes and my skin looks fabulous!
I love Pixiwoo and Sam Chapman, the brushes she designed are just amazing! I first saw this brush featured on Pixiwoo a lot, and my other favourite bloggers and youtuber's like Gh0stparties and Essiebutton were using this brush, and I'm so glad I picked it up, it's a keeper forever!
I love this brush! I use it mostly for liquid foundations and it just blends my foundation in perfectly. Sometimes, I use it to blend my concealer as well. I really love that this brush dries super quickly. I used to not like the fact that the handle of the brush was kinda thick/fat as it took up a lot of space in my brush holder but as I used it daily, I realized the fat handle was really nice to hold on to when applying my makeup! One thing I found would be that this brush, when clean, really soaks up foundation so you gotta use more foundation for every first application after cleaning the brush. Once soiled with foundation, it doesnt soak up foundation as much.
It is a good quality synthetic brush which is great for liquid foundation. I use it with MAC Face & Body & MUFE Face & Body. It provides a perfectly blended finish.
The price is really good.
If you're considering this brush for liquid/cream foundations or BB creams, buy it. Buy it now. I originally bought the expert face brush based on reviews for my foundation application. It is a really nice brush but I just wasn't getting the result I wanted. So I went ahead and bought the collection that has the buffing brush. This brush is incredible and definitely worth buying, even if you have to get the collection for it. It applies liquids like a dream. The brush doesn't hold onto the makeup, unlike the expert face brush, which made my brush feel almost damp with makeup as I applied it. With this brush, the makeup stays on your skin and it gives you an incredible finish. It's a light, undetectable finish. If you need heavy coverage you can apply layers without it looking cakey or obvious. This brush is just, unbelievably good. I have been using it for two weeks and have already ordered a second from iHerb because I know I will use it that much. Please, just, buy it. Best makeup brush I have ever used.
I agree with everyone else! This brush is awesome. I love the soft natural feel of it. It is a great price and is comparable to any expensive high end brush out there. I only really use it for any heavy bb creams or foundations as it blends soooo well and leaves your skin with a finish that is ALMOST as good as a beauty blender. Almost.
I think I would say, THIS IS MY FAVOURITE BRUSH YET!
I use this for liquid foundation, powder and sometimes to blend together. Its so handy being able to take one brush out with you but can use it for everything.
