Didn't do a thing to reduce the poof or help straighten my hair. Tried varying amounts of the product, and, nothing.
Great product. Straightens and minimizes flyaways. The smell is rather fruity, but doesn't really bother me. I used to (and still use, in my travel bag) the John Frieda root awakening gel, but this is a thicker cream/balm and moisturizes much more than any gel. The cost to benefit ratio is very high for this product! I expect to repurchase.

Some people are so stupid... anyone who gave this product one star and is complaining about their hair falling off is talking about the 3 step KIT!!!!
Can't people read!?!? This isn't the kit!!!!! This is just a straightening cream for blow-drying!! -__-
Anyways, with that said, I believe this is an amazing product to have in your staple if you have wavy/straight hair like me with weird kinks. I put about a dime size amount in my hands, emulsify it, and apply from mid-shaft downwards, then blow-dry all around with a round brush. I still have to straighten my hair afterwards like always, but it definitely smooths it out all around, leaving it soft and silky :)

I'm not sure why people are saying this makes your hair fall out and stuff. I have no issue with that. I think it smells fantastic, but other than that, it's just meh. I don't think it's bad or good. I just think it's a drugstore blow out cream and it doesn't really make a big difference in my hair. I use it with the straightening spray and it seems to work fine. Not the best product ever, but surely not the worst. I will probably just use up what I have but not buy it again.
I like this. The scent is very citrusy but not in a sickeningly sweet way. Smooths my frizz without being heavy. Adds lots of shine too. It's a keeper, I'll repurchase.

I would never buy this product again! i had the worst experience ever. First of all, my hair is somewhat curly/frizzy. and I wanted to buy this product so that I could have my hair straight for about a week ( I get lazy with the straightening) I just wanted to see what it would look like if i had a real brazilian blowout so i thought I would go ahead and try this. At first, i was excited about it. I wasnt worried about the repercussions at the time. I read the box thinking this would be fine for my hair. Yes, I have dyed my hair but not recently therefore I thought i would be o.k. using this. I WAS VERY, VERY wrong. i put the serum in, washed it out with lukewarm water as the directions instructed, and proceeded to step 2- putting the serum perfecting crap that they say to blow dry with. i tried to run my fingers through my hair but it was very difficult and like straw. CLUMPS of my hair were falling out. literallly clumps. as i was touching it it was falling off immediately and in chunks. After that, i stopped blow drying it. I quickly reached for all the protein packs i had and any leave in conditioner and squeezed it in. I never finished the entire process and now im scared to see what to do next after i wash out all the leave in conditioner. I am hoping i dont have to cut off too much of my hair. however, it is left like straw at the ends and is rubbery. this is the worst condition my hair has been in in YEARS! literally. I am so pissed off. No one, that even has GOOD & healthy hair should use this. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT, save your hair!
UPDATE: it has been 2 1/2 hours since leave -- in conditioner. my hair air dried and continued to fall out. the length of my hair in the front is gone. I touched my hair and it fell out. I had to cut off at least 3 inches from the front... and i have to go to a salon to get it cut short all around.. there's nothing else i can do. they should not even be able to put this product on the market legally :(
UPDATE 2:
To whom it may concern:
On 1/3/2012 I purchased Garnier Fructis Style: New sleek and shine blow drying perfector 2-step smoothing kit. It was said to last up to 7 shampoos, tame frizz, and give “easier, faster, blow dries”. I have been purchasing products for Garnier from a long time. I have purchased everything from hair dye, to leave in conditioner, to the shine-spray. When purchasing this product, I thought it would be perfect for my hair. I have somewhat curly/frizzy hair and wanted to use this product to make my hair less frizzy for a couple of days. On the back of the box there are statements saying that “ This is a non permanent styling aid. It is not a relaxer or straightener. It is suitable on color treated hair”. In addition to that, there is another statement saying the product is formulated with “protein building blocks found naturally in hair”
After reading the statements on the box, I was lead to think that this product would not be harsh or drying to my hair. I proceeded to use step one of the serum. After 15 minutes ( Although the recommended is 20-30 for longer and thicker hair; I began to touch my hair. It was so dry, and breakage was appearing. Confused, I began to sift my hands through my hair. To my surprise, pieces of hair were breaking off and my hair was chemically burned. I quickly washed off the product (step 1) with lukewarm water as suggested in the package. Mortified at the result, I did not go on to step 2. Had I gone to step 2 , I’m not sure what would happen. After I washed off the chemicals from my hair, my hair was like rubber- and it was breaking off in chunks piece by piece. There was nothing I could do to save it. It was severely damaged and torn and all I could do was cut it off. My hair fell out in large clumps and was fried by this product. I was so shocked and surprised because the back of the box said that this was not a harsh thing to put into the hair shaft. The box claims it has natural protein building blocks. It also claims that it is not a relaxer or straightener. If it has protein building blocks and is not a relaxer than why did my hair get friend and break off? Before using this product my hair was in good health. I had not dyed it in 3 or 4 months and I had only been straightening my hair once a week. In addition to that, each time I wash my hair I use a leave in conditioner and nutrient spray ( Both the leave in conditioner and nutrient spray are products of Garnier)
I am very disappointed with the result of this product and I want my money back. Two days after the use of the product I was forced to cut 4 ˝ inches off of my hair. I went in using this product with healthy looking, beautiful long hair that was well past my shoulders. I am now left with highly damaged, unruly , and a very short hair cut that is barely touching my shoulders. When I went to the salon and told the stylist about what happened, she was amazed at the amount of breakage that I had. The hair she said looked very dead, lifeless, and almost beyond her repair. She tried to save as much as she could of my hair but it was difficult at best.
I am very upset with the results and I want my money back for this product. Please.

It is next to impossible to find a product that's CG friendly in a drugstore. For those of you who aren't CG friendly (and I don't judge you for not knowing what this means,) basically means no silicones--EXCEPT FOR AMODIMETHICONE--which is water solulable and thus can be washed out of the hair via the conditioner-only method (AKA co-washing.) Please visit naturallycurly.com if you need any further info on the CG/co-washing method...it's ridiculously helpful.
Honestly, CG is a pain to maintain, but Garnier is really helping me afford it. phytologie defrisant balm is amazing, but as a broke ass grad student, I cannot afford that shiz. I have been co-washing with hair one argan formula (at Sally's) or tresemme, and using this balm when straightening with fab results--at 1/4 of the cost of phytologie or ojon...LOVE!
Is just awfull...the smell is just bad but u can kill that with the conditioner..this product left my hair like straw lifeless just awfull...
I use this on my naturally curly hair not to straighten but to de-frizz. I shampoo and condition my hair then dry it in a microfiber towel. I put this balm in my hair and comb through with a wide tooth comb after my hair has dried in the towel about 15 minutes. I dry it on low cool setting with my blow dryer. I spray some Tresseme heat protectant. I then twist my hair in five large sections in clips for about 20 minutes. When I take out the clips I am left with frizz free defined soft waves instead of frizzy curly unruly hair. If your hair is naturally very curly this straightening balm might work for you to calm your curls.
I also like it as a blow dry straightening balm but my hair won't stay straight on humid days.

This is horse shit. Where are all the reviews? I wrote a review on this product months ago, and my review is no longer listed on my profile. Was that page deleted? Seems suspicious that there are only 3 reviews here, and how convenient, they are all 5 stars! This product is GARBAGE. Do not buy it unless you want all your hair to fall off, or have to get it all cut off due to all the damage this stuff does. This will RUIN your hair beyond all belief, and there were talks of people filing law suits against Garnier due to the damage it caused. BAD BAD BAD! STAY AWAY!
