I was a little surprised to see some negative reviews of this but of course not everyone's skin is the same. I bought this to try about 6 months ago and am hooked - love it! My skin is combination with dryness in the winter and super oiliness in the humidity in summer if I don't use the right product, and my skin loves this scrub! It's just scrubby enough without being too abrasive (I tried TBS's Green Tea scrub and it was too much...) and my face has been very happy since I started using this (I use it every other day); pores have improved a bit, not as many breakouts. I am pretty cheap so I don't like the price but I will definitely pay it for this. I've been pretty happy so far with all the items in the Seaweed line I have tried.
Love it love it loooove itttt. The grains are small enough not to tear at your skin yet large enough to exfoliate your pores like it promises, leaves a clean tingly feeling, and foams like a cleanser on my skin. It controls my oily nose and forehead without drying out my moderately dry cheeks and chin. I also feel like it makes my skin glow and appear softer after I use it. The only face exfoliator I buy, and with the relatively small bottle lasting me for four-six months, I never mind repurchasing. Totally worth it.
N.B. I got a sample of this, not a full sized product.
This stuff is disgusting; smells horrible and actually caused my skin to react in a really noticeable way. I had red bumps all over my face after a SINGLE use. Will never touch again. Tossed the sample. Even if I hadn't reacted, though, it stinks. There are far better "soap free" options out there.
I've used the Tea Tree Oil line and decided to try a few of the Seaweed products, purchased this cleanser, the toner and the mask. Part of a buy 2 get one free sale.
It smells nice, but it really did nothing for my skin. I'm using it as body wash just to use it up ...
I just hit my twenties and I realised I must start doing something to my face. I have normal-combi skin, oily T-zone and normal skin on other areas. I have many clogged pores and whiteheads, but little blackheads.
This is the first exfoliator i've tried from the body shop, bought it at a sale at SGD16.90. I agree that it's great as a cleanser, my face feels really clean and smooth. It's gentle on blemishes as well. I thought that scrubs were harsh on pimples but this was fine on my pimples.
However, as an exfoliator, it doesnt really help coz the granules are too small. My pores are still there, esp the bigger ones on my forehead. It helped the pores above my cheeks a little. coz they're smaller.
It controls oil. My T zone is less shiny now (:
As a cleanser, I would give it 4 lippies. As an exfoliator, i think i would try st ives apricot scrub instead, cheaper and better coz of the bigger granules (friend recommended, though i havent tried it before)
As an exfoliator I would rate it a 1 or 2 but as a cleanser, I love this product. It keeps my combination skin from looking too shiny during the day, which is just what I wanted a cleanser to do. I just don't like how much it costs! I don't think that it's too harsh for my skin like some of the reviews say. But I do agree that this product doesn't have large enough granules for it to be a good exfoliator which was why I had purchased this product in the first place.
I answered yes when asked if I would purchase this product again, but I would purchase it to use as a cleanser rather than as an exfoilator.
This was the first exfoliator that I tried from The Body Shop, and although I like it, I prefer the one from the aloe line. My skin is fairly sensitive and the small beads in the aloe one agree with my skin more than the ground up shells in the seaweed one. That being said, it is a nice scrub if you like this type.
I don't like this product at all. I ended up returning it. it didn't do anything
for my skin, and even worse, it stings my face so much!
if you have sensitive skin like me, I definetely would not recommend it.
I haven't seen any real improvement in my skin since I started using this product. I find it's too harsh for my skin and leaves it a little tight. I'm not fond of the smell either. Really cheap though.
