I was on the fence about buying this simply because of the price but I thought I would give it a try..especially if it really worked...heard a lot of good reviews..I don't mind spending the money for something that delivers. I didn't think much of this..it was an ok polish..very thick. Only problem with thick polishes is that they tend to peel more easily on your nails. I could actually lift up an edge and take off the entire piece. I have my hands in water all day and that is the true test of a polish...honestly I may have kept it if it hadn't been so expensive. For $30 , it has to be great...it wasn't. Also the color was odd..gave my nails an artificial pink color...its supposed to have an optical brightener for the tips. The pink color just contrasted too much with my nail tips..made them look more yellow. Returned it. Going with OPI Nail Envy.. so far so good and half the price
I bought this on a whim. I was looking for something that will give my nail a bit of "color" while I'm wearing just a top coat during my "no nail polish days". It also gave my brittle nails some strength and avoid breaking. I also use this when I want french manicure. Most of the time I use this as a top coat and works well, too.
However, the smell is too strong and it gave me headaches while waiting for it to dry. The bottle doesn't look appealing either but I like the brush. I will not repurchase because of the smell.
My nails are reasonably healthy but a little bendy, so I bought this on QVC along with the crystal file and the clear version of this top coat. Like another reviewer mentioned, this is like a reinforcement for your nails while you are wearing it, though it won't do anything for them long term. I liked the look and feel of this, and also liked that if used as a base coat it helps color stick around much longer. I did not like that it became goopy with 1/3 of the product still there so for that reason I don't think I'll repurchase, it is impossible to apply. The price for that quality is just not right. My nails have not broken much, but I will give the credit to the crystal file. I keep using that and I love it.
This is not a miracle product. But.....
Used under and over polish like you would OPI's Nail Envy, this is a good fix for fragile nails.
It won't make your natural nails stronger. It acts like reinforcement. If your nails are particulary bendy like mine, you're better off using this under and over polish or it will crack and peel away from the nail.
What I am noticing is that now the weakened nail has grown out, the new supported nail growth is less flaky and less prone to splits, and grows longer. Its still just as bendy as before though!
I feel like I have thin, artifical nails over my own, thats how strong they are when wearing this stuff.
Its a cosmetic quick fix, not a life-long remedy. When using with colour, there's a clear version you can use as a top coat.
Pink gel coat is the only thing I put on my nails anymore. I was soooo hesitant to purchase this because of the price but I wanted something i could wear without noticeable chipping. I'm constantly typing and working with my hands all day as a bank teller, this really holds up. I love what the pink tint does for my nails, whitens the tip and makes them lovely. I feel really confident when wearing rings, now drawing attention to beautiful nails. I apply once weekly, then remove and trim my nails and reapply. My nails do appear to be stronger and healthier with this.
I think this is super expensive for what it is, especially since it's not the miracle-in-a-bottle I was led to believe it was. My nails still broke, chipped, and peeled. After going through a half bottle, I realized it was no better than any of the far cheaper options out there. In fact, if you compare the ingredients side by side with a similar pink formula that Sally's Beauty Supply sells for far less, they're pretty much identical.
Manicure in a bottle (nearly). If I push back my cuticles, file, then use this stuff, I get a polished look that can compete with a basic mani. Worth the money. The optical illusion of a healthier nail bed and tip really is true. This product really pulls things together so well I often use it alone with no need for polish.
Huge disappointment. I've been using a month and my nails are no better than when I use any other regular clear polish. Definitely NOT hardened or strengthened at all. I repeat NOT ONE LITTLE BIT HARDER OR STRONGER! The only positive I have for this is that it wears a awhile without chipping- both alone and under polish....but then so do a lot of polishes that don't cost $30. Save your money...don't buy this. (Background: I have tried many other strengtheners both high-end and drugstore brand. This Gel Coat is the worst of the bunch.)
Like many out there, I have spent loads of time and money trying to get my miserable nails to look good...not even good, I just wanted decent, not embarrassing. I've used every strenghther, oil, cream, and vitamin. Some were better than others, but nothing seemed to do the trick for any real length of time. In a final act of desperation, I bought this pricey cult stuff, expecting that it would be just another failed gimmick. But, much to my dismay it works. It hardens my nails, stays on forever, doesn't chip, and looks great alone as well as over polish. I misplaced my bottle the other day, and was panicked, because I didn't know if my nails could last a day without it. This will be one polish that I will scrape the bottom of the bottle of and be rebuying I'm sure.
Until my late twenties I had wonderful nails. No problems at all and I didn't give them much thought. Then both my thumbs and sometimes my little fingers developed ridges that would cause my nails to break and split. I tried everything on the market and made dietary changes as well (flax oil, etc.) and nothing worked until this.
This is a superior nail strengthener. It is a gel that is easy to apply and it dries quickly. I wear two coats and cover the underside of my tips with a nail whitening pencil and my hands look great. The product brightens the nails and gives them a very healthy natural appearance. It stays on really well, in fact after a week, at the base of my nails on the new growth area there is a demarcation line similar to that of overlays, but little to no chipping at the tips. The pink sheen fades in color and yellows slightly after 4 or 5 days, but by then I'm ready to reapply anyway. It is $30 for a small bottle. But I purchased during Sephora's F&F so it was $24. Still expensive, but less than the cost of a professional manicure so I'll justify it that way.
