I use this as my daily conditioner. Love it, works on my coarse, heavy and colored hair. Smells great to me.
Why did I wait so long to try this?!?!?!
My favorite shampoo & conditioner is Aveda's Brilliant line. My hair and scalp seem to really agree with Aveda's products. I bought a travel size tube of this treatment masque just to try it out. I put off using it for a full month.
One day I tried Pantene's new med-think shampoo & their treatment. My scalp was itchy and burned while my hair felt coated and straw-like. I needed help, fast.
I always trust Aveda's Brilliant Shampoo to clean everything up without irritating or drying anything out. I shampooed 3 times to make sure I got all of the Pantene gunk off. Then I squeezed out the excess water and applied this treatment. I only left it on for about 5 minutes because I just didn't feel like waiting.
After rinsing and towel drying my hair was sooooo soft, smooth, silky, and healthy! It's better than Redken's All Soft Heavy Cream, Neutrogena's Triple Moisture, and Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeeep combined! And those used to be my 'goto' deep treatments. I've also tried L'Oreal's Mega Moisture in the tub but it just coated my hair and made it slimey. This actually feels like it ***treats*** my hair and changes it for the better.
Darn you Aveda! You make really good, but really expensive products. I will repurchase anyway.
P.S. Yes, the scent does suck. It's kind of sour and citrus with a hint of some sort of floral(maybe rose? rose can be sour sometimes). But after I rinse my hair there's no scent at all. So I don't care that it smells like a high pitched scream while it's in my hair. continued >>

Okay to be fair, this stuff was a pretty good masque. I applied it and left it on overnight, as I do with all masques that I've tried and it did leave my hair feeling soft.
But the smell is god awful!!!!! Seriously, it started to make me nauseous. I tried to tolerate it, but by the third application, I vowed never again!!!!! Seriously, who in Aveda's product development dept. thought the fragrance was pleasant? It's a big YUCK!!
I will definitely not repurchase!!!
my hair just recently was stripped dry from bad shampoo and either falling out b/c of that or some other reason. it was a mess, my scalp felt sensitive and my hair looked terrible. today i put this on for half an hour and it's soft and lustrous again, but it will take time to get back the thickness. i think it's a great treatment and i'm not usually into fussing over hair stuff but it was a lifesaver. i wouldn't use it more often than occasionally b/c its really rich, its also expensive. but a good thing to help recover hair or indulge in something nice that feels like a spa.
This is a decent product. I got this as a sample along with the dry remedy shampoo and conditioner. I used an entire tube of sample on my thick 4a APL/BSL hair. This conditioner has a thick consistency with the Aveda herbal smell. I left it on for an hour or so and my hair was left soft and moisturized. I like it, but I probably won't purchase because this product is pretty expensive.

I actually had this done as a treatment at the salon and it was lovely. My hair was very soft and shiny - no huge transformations with this one, but it has a nice smell and it's a good treat for your hair every now and then. I imagine a bottle would last a long time.
i'm surprised at how many people don't like this product. i really like it. i think the trick is to use it sparingly. once-twice a week is enough! at my salon we recommend once every 2 weeks. another thing is use it AFTER you use a clarifying shampoo. you want to get all of the excess product buildup out of your hair so this product can really sink in. leave it on for at least 5 mins. i leave mine on for 20 with a shower cap over it and it makes my ends feel like i just got an awesome trim. the only thing i don't like is the smell and the bottle. i'm not really partial to the herbal/organic/natural smells and the toothpaste like bottle/tube makes it hard to get the product out.

This product makes my hair soft and silkier after using it. During the day though, it dries up a tiny bit--however, that also may be b/c I spray a heat-tamer spray on my hair and redo some of my curls in the morning. It's still pretty soft though--for some reason, it makes the hair on the top of my head really soft and silky, much more so that the rest. I think this product would be amazing for somebody with straight or slightly wavy hair, and just pretty good for the curly girlies. Idk about fine-haired-it might make it a little oily.
I got this as a sample from the Aveda store. I like it and it works fairly well, but it's so overpriced. I have cheaper conditioners that work just as well as this. I don't see a significant difference with my hair when I use this. I use this on the tips of my hair just to strengthen them. It's fine, but I will definitely not purchase.
For anyone with brittle, dry hair, this is something to try. I have fine hair, but every now and then this masque helps to quench any dryness that it has in it. It's a thick and rich paste almost that can be left on over night if need be and helps to soften and shine hair. I love the aroma and the results, but I can't use it too often seeing as how rich it is.
