I wore this for the first time today, and today was a long, emotional day. I put mascara on, because I knew the temptation to cry would be heavy, and thought mascara might stop me.
So, my 37-year-old self signed my very first lease all on my own after breaking off a 10-year relationship. Crying was involved.
I agree with someone below about the smell. I did detect a weird odor, and I had literally cracked this brand new bottle less than 24 hours prior, it definitely hadn't gone bad. Just has a slightly gross smell. I got over it, curled my lashes and was surprised to find that the brush really is fantastic for hitting and separating and lengthening the outside half of your lashes. It doesn't added a ton of volume, at all, but it lengthens like crazy and /does/ give that butterfly effect, if you've curled them.
By the end of the day, I had cried a few times and dabbed under my eyes with napkins and ran around downtown in the wind and cold and hours and hours later, I had no smudges under my eyes. None on my lids. The mascara really didn't budge, at all, which is impressive. More awesome, considering I didn't get waterproof.
Definitely would recommend, and I am a mascara snob. ;)
I had been meaning to try out this mascara for awhile, especially after seeing all the hype for it. I was very disappointed. It smelled awful, I'm not in the habit of smelling my mascaras but I just couldn't escape the scent. I hated the brush, which was the whole point of the product. If I was using the longer end of the brush on the outer corner lashes then I only got mascara on half my eyelashes. When I went to put mascara on the other half of my lashes the longer end was in the middle of my lashes, which defeated the whole point. The formula was too thick and didn't seem black, more of a charcoal gray. By the end of the day I had mascara all over my eyelids, as apparently it liked to smear. The one thing I will say is that it did make my lashes longer. But plenty of mascaras do that.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (that's the TL;DR review of this mascara for me)
Sparse medium length asian lashes that doesn't hold curl very well
I had high hopes for this one after seeing how many ppl loved it. I liked the old voluminous years ago, but for whatever reason (i think it was due to lash fall out) I stopped using it and moved onto other things. Lately I've been getting more and more into the plasticky wands and so when this was introduced, I thought it would be great.
Price: not bad, compareable to other DS mascaras
Color: I got the blackest black - dark enough, no gray tinge I could detect
Application/Formula: Here's where it starts to become problematic. The little comb brush does a fine job of separating, but the formula is quite thin and wet. So it separates but then immediately fuses together due to how wet the formula is. So I end up with thin but clumpy lashes.
Also, I bought the waterproof version since they hold curl better on my lashes - nope, this one tended to droop my lashes immediately (again I think due to the wetness).
Removal: Quite easy, even with the WP
Overall: No go for me. Made me look like I had less lashes than before, though the 3 lashes I end up having were quite fluttery and long.
I recently bought this mascara after seeing all the commercials... it really did give me butterfly lashes! Very easy to apply, it wasn't messy at all, though the formula is on the wetter side. My lashes are average length, and sparse in some areas, but this mascara gave me great volume, and my lashes almost touched my eyebrows! It gave me the coveted "disney princess" look. The only thing I wish is that it thickened a bit more.
At the end of a humid day, my lashes stayed as tall as they were this morning. It also came off very easily with soap and water (unlike my megaplush!). If the formula stays this way, I'll surely repurchase :)
I have a love-hate relationship with this mascara. It's the only mascara that dries out on me within a month. I love how it makes my lashes look when it's new. However, another downside is it does flake a lot 🙈 it does make your lashes pretty darn long though...
AHH! FINALLY A LOREAL MASCARA THAT I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
It is so easy to use and coat your lashes. The butterfly parts / wings of the wand are on an angle which makes it very easy to coat the tiny inner lashes to the long outer lashes. Just a one brush will coat all of them. I don't feel like they add length but it defines all my lashes and I love how it makes my eyes appear more awake.
By FAR my favorite mascara. I don't have to use an eyelash curler (but sometimes I do if I feel like it). It doesn't smudge and the only time I get fall out is if I touch it too much (which I have a habit of doing). It wings my lashes out perfectly to the outer corners making them look full from root to tip. It really opens up my eyes. I LOVE this mascara!! (And the packaging is super cute!)
Buying this mascara reminded me why I need to stop buying new mascaras. This formula is far too wet and gloopy for me. Did not like it. The original voluminous with the plain brush is much better and gives way better volume/separation. This one is very fragranced (dont remember if the original is) and just leaves my lashes wet. Did not like.
I got this after I realized Lash Blast was making me lose lashes and breaking them off, so in recovery mode now. I like this mascara it is HG? I don't think so but it doesn't flake or smudge on me and it is decent volume wise. Used with Dior's primer, I can pretend the Lash Blast disaster never happened.
This is an amazing product; it curls my lashes without me curling it, so it definitely holds my curled lashes (waterproof version and also flares out my outer lashes in the most subtle yet beautiful way-no clumping whatsoever . I'm asian with decent length lashes that are naturally straight, so i can't vouch for those with short, downward lashes. I can only imagine this product working even better for those with natural long curled lashes that want just a natural "buffterly lashes" effect just as the product stated. As for mine, the product also lives up the claim and works best as a lengthening mascara, I do have to go back with a voluminzing one, preferably maybelline falsies or loreal carbon black. My lashes are on the more dramatic side at this point, and can look like falsies even if i apply multiple coats of the volumizing mascara.
