I have pretty strange skin that could be best described as Combination, but I get dry patches in my oily areas occasionally. Normal face masks usually dry me out too much, but this stuff is great! I was skeptical about using a product with oil at first, but I learned that it actually helps balance the oils in your skin, so they don't go crazy. My skin is so soft! I also have very large pores that are greatly reduced for a while after using this. Doesn't pull everything out from deep down, but I definitely see a big difference! I follow up with my toner and light moisturizer and my skin feels great. Can't beat the price either!
I am not fond of the scent, I was kind of put-off by the smell. Too powerful. But it does remove the oilies from the skin which leaves skin nicely oil-free, I use the Origins Charcoal mask, which is superb but there's a big difference in price. The formula and texture is different as well, but I think for a three dollar mask, it's pretty good
This was beyond terrible. I can usually pick up whatever facemask, and it does the job just fine. Of course some are better than others, but I am not overly picky to begin with. I want something to purge my pores and to deeply cleanse, without stripping my generally dry, sensitive skin. However, given all of that, I used this once and never again !! Broke me out in some ridiculous cystic acne. Which I found very strange, as I've been on accutane so products very rarely break me out. Five days later, I am still nursing my broken out, deeply congested face. This congested my skin like no other product I have ever used. Which I thought was strange, as the product felt nice going on, and seemed to feel okay and like it was doing the right things ? But alas, it wasn't meant to be. I do, however, recommend the chocolate and strawberry facemask by Freeman. I've used it for years, and I'm sorry I ever strayed ! lol. If you're willing to take the risk of cystic breakouts, go for it. But for me, I'll pass. It's just not worth the money or risk.
I love love love this mask. My skin looks fabulous when I wash it off. My husband even uses it. I don't have acne or any particular skin problem so it may not work well for someone that does. What I do have is tired looking skin - especially after a night out. This never fails to make my skin glow. Works just as well (for me) as products ten times the cost. Great stuff.
I agree with the other who experienced break outs from this product. I picked it up as I love the Queen Helene mint julep mask so I was curious if another product could do any better. NOPE. I used this mask 4 times for about an hour and it left me with cysts forming on my chin TWICE. I know it was from the mask because I wash my face first and I would have noticed any cysts forming. Other than the break outs, it leaves my skin really dry, far drier than the QH mask, but I do find it really cleans out my pores. I suppose the break outs are from the purging but I don't know, I can't behind a product that breaks me out :-/. I'm gonna stick with the mint julep mask.
I like this product and it does fine to purge out the pores, but it leaves my skin feeling dry. The packaging is honestly so messy for me. I also have not noticed anything special it does to my face, sometimes I even feel a burning sensation, I dont know if its an allergic reaction to something. I will try to find a Freeman mask that purges out pores but does a difference on my skin
I like Freeman products generally, and I've reviewed a few of their other masks. This one is definitely my new favorite. I used to think that a little bit of dryness and tightness were just part of using a clay mask, but this mask helps get the gunk out of my pores without making my face too dry! I didn't think it was possible. The only reason I deducted a lipstick was because something in this mask irritates my eyes when I use it, which has never happened to me before. It's not so bad that I can't stick it out, but it's not pleasant. I'll still keep using this anyway, just because I LOVE how it makes my skin look and feel.
This is the first mask I've ever used. I was looking for something to purge my pores once a week or so. The product is really fun to use, slathering it all over your face and feeling it dry. Something in the product, however, makes my eyes burn and water like crazy. Even when I use it as a spot-treatment, my eyes still water.
My biggest turn-off with this product is that it breaks me out, which seems completely counter intuitive to the purpose. At first, I thought it was just purging my skin, bringing the toxins to the surface, so I kept using it. Even after using it three or four times, it was still making me break out. I then tried using it as a spot treatment, but that just reaffirmed what I already knew: the original spot would dry up nicely, but then 3-4 more spots would form around it where I'd put the mask.
Overall, very frustrating, but I hope it works for others!
I really like this mask. It cleared up my acne alot and i have tried everything! EVEN proactivv but it is my remedy. Ilove the smell. For one i love avocados so haha. but seriously i would recommend this to acne-prone skin... see if it helps !!! :)
I LOVE this face mask :D
Because I have oily skin I used it every second day and I used to have such bad acne on my forehead and it was painful and this started to take it away
Too bad I was too lazy to continue using it :P
I do use it on occasion now as my acne has cleared up quite a bit thanks to benzoyl peroxide :P (and this antibacterial dish washing soap)
