So much hype about this line lured me into buying it. UGH I HATE IT. I even watched the accompanying dvd because I thought I might be doing something wrong. Forget it - it's not me. This stuff is just awful.
There is not one thing I like about this product. First of all, it is a mess to use...you will have an orange dusting over your entire bathroom. I never use the lightest shades, and I had to with this...and it still looked very orangey on me. It was not enough coverage for my acne-prone skin, and it wore off in a matter of a couple hours. It dried me out, and it made my face itch terribly. I'm not sure if this just doesn't work with my skin type or what. Maybe this is just another product for people with flawless skin...
I know people really love this product line, I for one HATE IT! The foundation looks like it has been caked on, has no staying power what so ever...just doesnt work with my skin. Would never repurchase.
i've used BE for about 18 months. i thought it was pretty ok until i tried Everyday Minerals (for cost of shipping - $4 - they'll send you good sized samples-3 foundations, a blush and a concealer). it really caused me to look close at BE - it just doesn't last on my oily/combo skin, by mid-day it looks like its only on my cheeks and the color changes!! i walked around like that for a YEAR!? ack! sorry BE, you lost me. plus, EM doesn't have bismuth in it - the ingredient said to cause many BE users to itch. i also have to comment (as other reviewers have) that for all the advertising BE does, they should save the $ and cut their prices/develop a better product - you get the same amount of EM (a superior and ALL NATURAL product) for half what BE charges. bottom line: there are far better MMUs out there for waay less of your hard earned cashola. (and no, i do not work for EM. i am just tired of wasting $ on junk.)
I just love BE. It makes skin look flawless and it feels so light. I have used the Mac foundations but they felt to heavy and cakey. The jar and sifter is the reason why I gave it a 4. It's so messy and to much comes out of the sifter. I have been using BE for 10 months now and I am hooked.
I gave this a shot after hearing all the hype about it. It's not the worst makeup I've ever used, but it certainly isn't the best. It is nowhere near worth the money in my opinion. After two weeks I took it back to the mall and got a full refund on the starter kit I bought. The coverage was just not good enough, no matter how much I used. My skin is fairly clear, but even so it didn't do as good of job as my liquid foundation.
Those who love this product seem to REALLY love it. It has a very loyal following. I am not one of those women. Messy, messy. Uncomfortable feeling of having powder on my face. Not happy with the color selection. But what really did it for me - my makeup from other really good lines didn't seem to work well using this as a foundation. If I used "warmth" or another BE face color, fine. But if I used Nars, MAC, Stila or Smashbox for bronzer, blush, powder or anything else, my face looked dirty and disconnected. Ick. I just can't commit to only one line. I get the sense that many BE gals are very loyal to the entire line (based on the BE blogs). Anyway - not for me. I will continue my hunt for the perfect foundation. I returned this.

I bought this product to have as part of my kit. I tried it myself a few times just to practice with it and obtain the needed 'hand' for control issues. I must admit that I hate it. I will keep using what I normally use (FTR, Dior Icone in transparent, just works really well for me), and use this only on people that really have skin issues, since that was what this was supposedly developed for. I don't like the coverage, or the way it settles into lines, and it will settle into lines when you have more mature skin--this is a powder, I don't care what the propaganda for it states.
I happened to be working in a Sephora one day, and a Sephora makeup artist and I were discussing the product, and she was amazed at how it just flew off of the shelves because of clever marketing. And she agreed that it really didn't work for more mature skin.
I love Bare Escentuals. I went for the longest time avoiding it because of all the hype. I then walked into Sephora and had my face done up and went out and about my business.
By the end of the day the makeup was intact and my acne prone skin felt smooth and calm.
I purchased it the very next day and have used it for 3 months now. I can't imagine going back to anything else now.
I want to love this product as well, but with my naturally oily skin I have found to my horror that after three months of use that I have these bumps all over my face. Although I have oily skin still at 36 years old, I only had maybe two breakouts around the time of my period. I had used Mary Kay for about 15 years and never had any skin issues while using it (should have stuck with it) I tried Bare Minerals to use something other than the liquid foundation and that it was supposed to be so good for your skin.
The bumps are small almost like the pore is clogged, really weird. Has anyone else had this problem with the Bare Minerals? I have changed facial cleansers however I noticed at first the bumps were coming up around my jaw area, however I blamed that on putting my hands on my face at work.
