Studio Fix Fluid in NW10, a perfect match to my skin. I am very pale with redness around my nose and jawline, and I have lots of freckles. I want to cover the redness but let some of the freckles show through. This foundation works wonders for me, I love it.
I have never been a fan of liquid foundations and haven't used one in years. All of MAC's foundations were just too dark for me anyway, at least until NW10. Now I use this foundation every day
The coverage is medium but easy to build if you need to cover problem areas. I like that with a foundation brush, I can use a little of this foundation to cover the red areas of my skin but my freckles can still show through. It comes off as glowing and natural. I sometimes have dry patches on my skin and this foundation does not settle into or exaggerate those dry areas, at least when applied with a foundation brush. I use a $1 e.l.f. foundation brush and it works perfectly. If I need quicker or heavier coverage, I use a damp Beauty Blender sponge and dab/press the foundation into my skin. If I need to set the foundation, I use MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder/Pressed with a powder puff, then dust off the excess. The finish is nearly flawless, which is great considering my skin is full of flaws!
I prefer this to my Studio Fix Powder Plus in NW10, which is darker than the liquid NW10, tends to settle into fine lines and dry skin, and looks much too powdery on its own.
I really like this foundation a lot. NC15 is a great match for me. It does a great job of covering my rosacea, and I don't even need concealer (usually I do with some other foundations because of the redness in my cheeks). I apply this with the Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush, and set the foundation with MAC MSF Natural in Light. Not a fan of the paint smell or having to buy the pump separately. Thankfully, no breakouts, and it lasts all day on my oily skin. Overall, I am happy and do recommend giving this a try.
I love this foundation. I wear NC20 and I don't wear it every single day. I wear it mainly for special occasions or when I just want to look really, really perfect. I use it often on clients. I don't use it for flash photography, though, because of the SPF. Overall, I love it!
NC 40 This has been my go to foundation for years. It lasts a good 6 hours with primer. I love its coverage just wish it had some more staying powder.
This foundation matched when I wore a little (mixed with moisturiser) daily, but when I wanted to build it up at night, the colour (nw25) looked very pink and didnt match at all. The colours are good if you are very pink toned, or very yellow, not so good for neautral toned people unless you plan on wearing very little. I also found it oxidised throughout the day, after about 6 hours. It didnt break me out, and the coverage is very buildable though. There's an excellent range of colours for darker skin too
I really wanted to try this foundation as so many people on youtube bragged about it. So I finally brought it. I got skin matched at the Mac store for NW10.
First of all, the smell of this foundation is horrible. It smells like paint. It also felt like paint on my skin. When first applying this foundation it didn't look very good. As the night/day goes on it settles a bit better on the skin and looks okay. Unfortunately, it irritated my skin so much that I had to take it off. The Mac consultants said that the ingredient in the foundation that most likely irritated me was called Talc. It also made my skin break out within hours of using it.
Major cons about this product is that the lightest shade was my exact skin colour, so that made me look even more pale than I am. They don't have many light shades for pale skins as a lot of them are too yellow. Another con is that the design of the bottle is not a pump. You have to buy the pump, which is silly as all liquid foundations should have a pump or the pump Mac supply should be free if you are buying a $50+ foundation to begin with...
Overall, I was disappointed with this product and would not recommend.
I have really oily acne-prone skin so for me a lot of the time foundation tends to slide off easily even with setting powders etc& finding a foundation with good enough coverage that doesn't look too fake is hard... I also have an unusual skin tone so getting foundation for my colour is hard. However I bought this after being recommended by a friend and I was pleasantly surprised.. it applies nicely and makes my skin feel really smooth and the coverage is fantastic and doesn't look like you've plastered loads on because you really don't need to because of the coverage and it generally lasts me all day, it sets 5 mins after application and the range of colours is phenomenal, I am NC15 and it's great because NC is just the right tones for my face as I often find that foundation is too pinky or orange for my skin. This product is a little on the expensive side costing me £22.00 but it was definitely worth it! Overall this was a good buy and although it is a little expensive, it works like a dream, covers well, matches my skin tone& most importantly stays on.. would definitely buy again!
My Skin tone: Pale with pink undertones, Skin type: Oily/combo, acne prone.
I decided to try this foundation despite what i had heard about it e.g. the smell, people breaking out etc. as everyone's skin is different.
I went for this particular foundation because A) It has a pretty good colour range B) matte finish C) Oil free D) Long wearing.
I got colour matched by a really nice sales assistant and i was NW10. I made sure that i could return it if i'd opened it and had a skin reaction, luckily i could.
When i applied it the next day the first thing that hit me was the smell! It is strong and not very pleasant, i don't understand why it smells, as so many other foundations don't! The colour was good and i liked the texture, coverage and matte finish. It also was build-able. It lasted pretty well throughout the day and still looked ok at the end of the day (fyi i have to blot my skin throughout the day as i get very oily). But after a few days i started to notice new spots and also spots that had started to dry out, came back again. I was annoyed and upset because i had finally found a good colour and i liked how my skin looked when wearing it! But i decided to return it as i don't want to add more spots to the ones I've already got lol! Something else i didn't like was that they don't sell it with the pump, you have to buy that as well! Its ridiculous! Anything to make money!
Overall i liked the foundation but i would not buy it again as it broke me out!
this arrived this morning and i was so so excited. after previously trying (and HATING) studio sculpt i wanted to give mac another chance after seeing people on instagram saying they swear by it.
i have just finished scrubbing my face raw to get this off and slathering on moisturiser to try and save my face.. this is like some kind of acid. i have NORMAL skin. not sensitive, i only break out at my time of the month, my skin is not dry, nor is it oily, its just normal. never in my life has a foundation given me this reaction.
MY SKIN IS STLL BURNING AS I WRITE THIS. i put it on about 10am, and it was fine, pretty average coverage, didnt cover any discouloration or redness in my skin, just looked like my normal skin, which was dissapointing because i paid £25 (including the pump) i could feel it on me. then my face started getting abit itchy but i didnt think to much of it. i looked in the mirror 3 hours later and it had completly dissapeared (it was still there, but there was no colour too it other than a greesy orange tint. so much for nw10!) so i put on another 2 pumps and bam, the itching started again. about 15 minutes later i noticed my skin going red and it felt warm, and then it went from warm, to burning, so i washed it off and what the foundation had been hiding was a bight red itchy mess. i washed it off, used my clarisonic and all, and this stuff was still burning my face. i look awful and i have came straight on here to say this because i am so so angry and upset and want to save others from this. DONT BUY IT.
If you have sensitive skin and are acne prone this product may severely break you out.
The studio fix foundation + concealer irritated my skin.
The PROLONG wear concealer works, and if you mix with a moisturizer it can be a tinted, full coverage moisturizer :)
WILL NOT BUY this product again. Will return it.
