I have all four colors of this product (rose, passion, honey and plum) and this one is my FAVORITE!!!! It has the most AMAZING scent; very lemony and refreshing.
The formula is very soft and moisturizing, though you have to be careful not to mush it it's so soft. The rose color is PERFECT for those days I want some color on my lips but I want it to be super subtle and not heavy.
The container is some sort of very interesting metal (I think) and has a screw on lid which i think it great, I hate when lip products burst open in my bag, ESPECIALLY the more expensive ones!
I love all four colors to death and though I have the mini ones I think they'll last me a good long time so I won't need to repurchase anytime soon :)
I received this as a birthday present from Sephora and adore it! It came with the regular Sugar lip treatment which I also really like. The smell is delicious-like lemony sugar. What is really nice about the rose one is that the tint is so natural. It's like your lips, just enhanced a little bit. It is smooth, non sticky, and has spf. Plus, I really like the packaging. It's substantial and feels luxurious and special, which is weird to appreciate about something as simple as a lip balm, but I do. I will definitely repurchase this as a little luxury item that I can actually afford.
I also received this from Sephora for my birthday. I used it quite a bit at first but I cannot say that it does much for my lips. That is why I do not think I would actually purchase it. For a free gift it's great! It has a slight lemony taste to it so it's not an icky lip balm, the tinted balm also goes on pretty nicely (I have medium toned skin). SO, I would say that it is alright, but probably not worth the expense. You might as well go with something that does the trick for keeping your lips moisturized.
I wrote this as cheap because I actually got it from Sephora as a free birthday gift! I like the screw-on packaging and the universally flattering color. Very rarely to pink tinted/colored glosses flatter my exceptionally yellow olive skin, but this works it. It's nice to have, but hasn't done anything for my lips that my Neutrogena chapstick hasn't been able to do aside from looks/taste, so I doubt I would dish out whatever exaggerated price this probably is :p
I got this in a sample sized set with the Sugar Lip Treatment (which I reviewed separately). First of all, yes, what everyone says is true. Do not put this in your pocket or anywhere exposed to any sort of heat or it will get melty and break off! But that's the major negative. I love the metal container (perhaps contributing to the heat factor) and the screw packaging. Reduces messiness. I love the lemony, sugary flavor and how it softens and protects my lips. I'm one of the few that doesn't care about SPF so I can take it or leave it. (I'm not allergic to SPF either so it's a non-issue). Here's what I don't like about the rose tinted one: it's a slightly weird tone for my NW20 complexion. Too cool maybe??? Not sure.... It just looks "off" somehow. Because I got this in a set as a free gift, I'm not complaining too much but this is definitely a try-before-you-buy item. I'm thinking the honey might work for me - I'll let you all know. :-)
EDIT: I'm changing my mind about this - it's grown on me - and I'm adding a lippy. This works best for me with a no-makeup look. It's still a try-before-you-buy though! ;-). But no, I still will not repurchase.
I was really hoping that despite the crazy price tag, this might be a HG all in one lip product for me. But my hypersensitive lips boycotted it almost immediately. Maybe it is too much beeswax (first ingredient), maybe the lemon...I don't know. All I know is that my sensitive lip line on my cupid's bow FLARED UP BIG TIME with this. And at $24 a pop, this has to go back. I am going back to my plain ol' Neutrogena Lip Balm (white tube) and using a 1017 lippie approved color on top of it. Looks like my easy, breezy summer makeup will be minus a cute lippie.
I, too, got this as a birthday gift from Sephora (I have purchased the "regular" sugar lip treatment before, though - and actually paid money for it.
Meanwhile the Sugar Rose has a sheer blush-pink-rosey tint to it and I like it just as well.
Like many others I got this and the original minis as a birthday gift from Sephora. The packaging is awesome, I must say. They look so sleek. I like the texture of the balms, and the slight lemony scent. The rose lip treatment has a pretty pink tint to it. They keep my lips supple and moisturized. As far as repurchasing a full size, I'd have to go with no. I'm all for putting out extra money for amazing products but 24 bucks is ridiculous for some lip balm. And honestly, it's not much better then my regular old Lip Smackers.
I got the mini duo (Rose and the regular one) as a BDay gift from Sephora. They are quite good. I like them both. And as someone said the swivel tube is pure genius. But $22 for a small lip balm? Way beyond my budget.
I was ready to slam this product after the first time I used it, but after using it for a couple weeks, it's really grown on me. First, the packaging is genius--really sturdy metal that screws on so the lid can't come off. More high-end lipsticks should come this way! Second, it has incredible staying power. It lasts on me through meals and even after I wash my face at night, there is still lip balm on! Third, cute little flush of pink.
The downside is that this product is ridiculously expensive. Like many others, I got the free b-day gift from Sephora; I did not pay for it. I was glad to have the chance to try it, because after all the reviews here, I WAS on the verge of paying $24 for a lip balm. But while I really like it, I don't think it's enough of a difference from, say, Burt's Bees (my go-to) to justify being 8x as expensive.
My biggest pet peeve other than price is the form of the balm - imagine you buy a regular size lipstick, open it up, only to find that 1/2 of the circumference of the actual lipstick is gone, and there is a tiny, scrawny matchstick of lipstick inside the tube, surrounded by a half-inch ring of space. Making this product half the size of a normal balm, but five times the price, is adding insult to injury! It's so skinny that even with my tiny, Kenneth-Branagh-sized no-lips, I have to swipe twice to cover the surface. And I know it's only a matter of time till it breaks off and becomes a gloppy mess.
My final take on this product is if someone gives it to you, enjoy. If you're a Beauty Insider, go get the freebie and enjoy. If you can afford to buy, say, $50 Chantecaille lipsticks with abandon, buy this and enjoy. But if you're a normal person, it's not worth the money. Go buy Burt's Bees and a cute top on sale and enjoy!
EDIT: Having gone through two sample size tubes of these, I have to change my tune. It's worth the cost! I still give it 4 instead of 5 due to the price, but it brings me much more joy than Burt's Bees.
