This is my HG cleanser, and I am so happy I found it! My skin is really sensitive and other cleansers don't seem to have the right balance of cleaning power while not being too harsh. I have used this everyday with my Olay Pro-X for about six months, and my skin has improved so, so much! It's clear and radiant. It is a little pricey, but a little but goes a long way with my brush. It took me about five months to use the whole bottle, and my boyfriend was using it every day, too (and yes, his skin has improved, as well!). I just purchased my second bottle.
This product works just ok for me. I think it is totally over hyped. I used it with my clarisonic and it is a good combination. I have noticed that after some time my skin gets used to it and the effect is not so good anymore.
The text on the packaging is nice but the black cap broke off about a third or half way through the bottle. I had to replace the product in a new bottle.
Love it at first, but now it makes my face very dry and causes it to flake sometimes. I've never experienced this with any facewash until I used purity. It's also pretty expensive, paying $25 Cad for the small bottle. The smell is okay but nothing to crazy good. I really wished that it would have worked out better :-( guess i will continue searching for a facewash.
I got a sample of this from Sephora. It's just ok to me. I needed to use alot to get my makeup off, and I don't even wear foundation or concealer! Just bronzer and mascara. Yet it didn't feel like it was cleaning my skin. The pros:
- no fragrance, so no irritation at all and great for sensitive skin
- left my skin feeling good, not tight or dry
- after using enough it did feel clean
Overall, a nice cleanser, just not enough to wow me away from my usual one and make me switch. I feel like I'd go through it fast having to use so much.

My skin is so different from most people because I know that this is a lot of peoples HG cleanser and for me it just dried me out....It didnt feel healthy or clean to me at all...and it smells like a cheap Avon brand or something.....
I love this product! Half way between a face wash and cleanser it's really gentle and refreshing but also cleans really well!
Worked fine for about two weeks, then... red bumps/ breakouts (like cystic acne) all over my face. So disgusting and painful. I was disappointed. Really wanted to like it... I love Philosophy's marketing!
For the price, I expected more. It was okay, and eventually broke me out. The salesperson at Sephora told me that this product is heavily perfumed, which could be irritating to my skin.
Oh well, back to MB and Clinique!
I got this at Ulta with my Clarisonic during a time when I was having lots of hormonal skin changes and breakouts. I find salicylic acid drying for everyday washing, so I liked that this didn't have it, and also had some natural oils which I know your skin needs some of even if it's oily. I paid for the big bottle which is overkill, it's humongous, but it's the better deal dollarwise.
The clarisonic does help this lather well, so if you like a lather use that or another type of facial brush. Otherwise using your hands, there is very little lather, which might be gentler for sensitive skins.
This is very creamy, clean/herbal smelling, but I don't find it leaves my skin "filmy" like some other reviewers have said. However, I only use it with the clarisonic, so maybe that's why.
It does remove makeup, but not waterproof makeup. You need to use another product for that. For nights when I have lots of makeup, I use a makeup removing towelette first, then Purity wash.
It does not leave my skin tight or stripped feeling- just clean and fresh and soft. I use it daily and have never broken out. I feel like it's a great go-to for any skin type including sensitive skin since it's gentle and does not have a strong smell or too much detergent. When I run out (in ten years!) I will buy it again for sure.
Philosophy's Purity is very well known in the beauty community. Its raved about for its ability to take off makeup and how it cleanses the skin. I have mixed feelings on this product. I like the consistency of it, a good in between of thick and thin. Its not too much of either. I found that this cleanser did not remove my makeup as nicely as I expected. I enjoy the Purity in a bar soap form so much better and I find that it removes my makeup a lot better. Also with the liquid cleanser it leaves a slight film on my skin, which I don't like, especially since my skin is oily. I think this cleanser is a bit overhyped.
Purity is the only cleanser that I've used that didn't sting my eyes when used close to the eye area. It's gentle, yet it removes all my makeup! It does leave my skin a bit dry, so I took off a lippie for that. But this has become my daily cleanser/makeup remover. I got one of those huge containers so I won't need to repurchase for a while.
