I was having major oily skin issues with my HG foundation, Armanis Luminous Silk Foundation, just when I was about to give up wearing it I turned to MACS blot powder in Medium/Dark and this has made a hug difference! I can now wear my favorite foundation with minimal oily breakouts, all I do now is blot one/two times a day with MAC powder, even stands up in the humid area I live in. If you have oily skin and need a good powder try this!
I love how this powder gives my skin a nice matte finish. Also, it eliminates shine and oil. I can re-apply it a few times a day if it's completely necessary, but most of the time, I just use it to set my foundation and use oil-blotting sheets.
First, I dislike the applicator it comes with. Unlike the Select Sheer Powders that come with a nice suede feeling puff (?), Blot Powder comes with a more cotton feeling one that feels too harsh on my skin. I ended up just buying a new applicator from MAC to replace it.
Second, if you apply too much, it seems to cake on. That's reasonable but almost everyday I end up with a bit too much on my nose, even if i'm applying it liberally. i have to fix it with Fix+ spray so that i don't look all cakey.
Overall, I love this product. I'll definitely repurchase if I have too, unless I find something else I love.
I love blot powder! However, it is quite expensive for how much you get. I hit the pan today and I bought this item 1.5 months ago. I use it once in the morning with a large brush and this is good for about 8 hours. I use the puff that it comes with for quick touchups just once a day in the t-zone. So I don't think I'm using it often enough for it to hit the pan so quickly! I know a lot of people here seem to hate the puff that the compact comes with. I agree, it's not the best but I found that the best way to apply the powder with this puffer is to "blot" not smooth over your face for a nice finish.
Just got this today, based on the reviews and also since the MAC make up artist used this on me when i went there for some other mac purchases. i loved how it mattified and got rid of my shiny t-zone. I use Bare Minerals foundation and set it with Mineral Veil but i see shine creeping up on me as early as 1030am!!!!! So ive been in search for someting to help that. I tried BENEFIT's Dr. Feelgood but it still made me all shiny. This lasted through the whole day , me getting home and walking my 3 dogs, putting gas, walking to the mailbox, doing a little bit of yard work. so far, so good, im liking it. The price was $20. a little pricey IMHO, but hey if it works, why not? as long as it doesnt cause me to break out then i am definitely DEFINTELY repurchasing when i run out!
I used to love this but now that I'm living in a warmer place it doesn't work as good as before. But still is the best powder around and it keeps me "matte" for most of the day
The coloring is pretty strange since I'm quite fair and I still have to get it in medium dark .
I really like this blot powder from MAC. Sometimes I use it to set up my foundation + blush, sometimes only to retouch my make up on my go during the day. Its easy to apply and doesnt give much colour to the skin, so its really impossible to put too much of it in the face that look that strange powdered face, almost like a ghost.
I live in Brazil and here MAC make up stuff is very expensive, almost 200% the price in USA. I dont know the reason, maybe the huge taxes that we have here for this kind of product or maybe they are trying to draw such a great profit... I wish this were cheaper so I could by more times and have much more MAC make up that I like so much.
(Forgive me about my bad english, but as you could read Im brazilian and english is not my first language. :))
I have purchased this over and over. Does an excellent job at getting rid of shine. MAC Blot is one of my staples---I will not leave home without it! I'm NC35ish for reference.
This is my HG of powders! Great for setting my SF fluid and to blot oily areas during the day. Just wish it would provide a round sponge instead of the cloth pad it comes with. Instead, I replace the pad with a foundation wedge and use that to apply it for touch-ups. Does a good job of mattifying my oily t-zone without a cakey finish. Love this product!
I've been using this powder for about 6 months now and it hasn't given my acne-prone face any breakouts! I have weird combination skin that starts out dry/flaky but gets really oily throughout the day and so far this powder has kept my face oil-free the longest out of all the other pressed powders I've tried in the past. I usually only have to re-blot 1 or 2 times throughout the whole day. For reference I am an NC40 in Studio Fix Fluid and I use Medium/Dark in the Blot Powder. HG? Maybe!
This is a pretty good powder. It's translucent so it doesn't affect your makeup, and doesn't get cakey even if you layer it on. It does a good job at mattifying the skin, but I found myself having to re-apply quite frequently. This is probably due to the nature of my combination skin in general though, so I guess it's to be expected. I would recommend getting a powder brush to apply this with because the little puff it comes with is pretty useless. I got a short-handled powder brush to take with me in my purse for touch-ups. Medium Dark is perfect for me (Asian skin, yellow undertones). The MA told me that Medium was too light and would make my skin look very ashy.
