I love this colour, it's described as a cloudy pink on the MAC website and I would describe it as a sheer, natural mid-rose colour. On my lips (pigmented, NW25) it is almost the same as my natural lip colour only with more pinky tone to it. It's a lustre formula so the colour is buildable but offers a very natural look, perfect for daytime. I would definitely buy this again.
This is a very subtle mauve MLBB type lipstick. It looks quite midtone in the tube, but goes on a bit lighter. It reminds me of Prestige Raven but lighter and more plum tinged mauve than Raven's mauvey plum, if that makes sense. To put it another way, Raven is a little darker and a touch more plum than mauve. Either way, Syrup is a great nude-ish lipstick for pink and purple eye looks, and looks awesome paired up with Nars Sin and MAC True Romantic beauty powder blush. It's a really nice everyday shade for me. I love the Lustre formula, I think it's my fave and I know most of my MAC lipsticks are this formula. It's slightly glossy and very natural feeling.
I was browsing in a MAC store, and this color was what the SA recommended, and she was spot on! I told her I wanted a mauve-pink shade that wasn't too bright or dark, something that I could wear for everyday. I was looking at Sweetie and Plumful, and she suggested Syrup. After swatching all of the 3 I realised she was right after all! So I got Syrup, and it's exactly the same color as my lips :) I do wish it was a tad darker for that MLBB look, but it's definitely something I'll use again and again, especially since it's so wearable.
I wanted to like this, and based on all the glowing reviews I thought that I would. Unfortunately it was too dark and too purple on me to look like mlbb. I have very pink lips for reference. Syrup just wasn't flattering at all. I was really surprised because there are reviews of people with the same coloring as me who rave over it, so go figure.
An YLBB dusky pink, SYRUP goes perfectly with my NC15 skin tone.
As itís a lustre finish, the colour is sheer and fresh. The lipstick itself is non-drying.
A perfect everyday shade, which matches most MU looks.
love, love, love, LOVE this lipstick!
it is kinda like one of those my lips but better lipsticks.
it's very natural looking, has a nice gloss to it, and i can put it on without having to use a mirror which is great for those days when i can't be bothered to wear much makeup.
This lipstick is shiny and applies softly; i.e., no sticky, thick feeling on your lips. The color is beautiful on my NW20 complexion. It's pink, but by being muted, it's not the garish pink sometimes seen. Although it's light, it's not so light that it washes you out or looks ghoulish.
One of the things I love the most about is that you can get a totally different look from it depending which lip liner you use. If you go for a darker color and blend it, you can really make thin/small lips look larger. If you go with a color similar to it, you can make it look brighter. Amazing little lipstick.
i like the texture and the feeling of this lipstick but the color is too light and sheer it hardly shows up on my NC35 skin with pigmented lips. now i just use this as a base color to tone down bright colored lippies.
This lipstick is a milky pink, which doesn't bode well with my skintone (NC35-40). I look washed out...or at least totally 80s with the pastel pink. I think it might look okay with the appropriate liner to darken it up, but I think people with lighter skintones will fare better with this lipstick. I received this as one of my free lipsticks (for exchanging six empties), but I don't see myself purchasing it for myself...maybe for my kit, but not for myself.
This may come as a shock to all the MAC die-hard lovers out there but this lipstick is my only purchase at MAC (so far!).
I'm impressed with this lipstick - it's a creamy and moisturising light pink lipstick that adds natural colour to my rather pale lips and gives them a pinkish tinge without being overdone. I've never been able to use pink lipsticks before as they look too pale for my skin tone but Syrup is just perfect for a working day when you don't want bright red lipsticks or to complement a dramatic eye look.
I tend to reach for this on weekends when I put on blue eyeshadow! I usually put on a thin layer of lip balm as my past experience with lipsticks make me quite wary about their drying effect on lips but I suspect Syrup would be fine without the pre-requisite lip balm!
