My current favourite mascara! Mascara used to be my absolute essential makeup product but recently I've gone straight for falsies or just not bothered at all. Then I got a sample of this and loved it so much I bought the full size :)
The *best* part is that it holds a curl so well - I have the very slightest droop at the end of a 17 hr shift!
Volumises without clumping and defines lashes without making them look sparser.
Also lengthens pretty well for a volumising mascara and no stupid annoying fibres
Smudges! I do have very oily eyelids + use an oily sunscreen around my eyes (haven't tried the mascara without the sunscreen yet) and most mascaras smudge on me. This is lessened somewhat with Clarins Double Fix.
For reference: the whole typical short, Asian eyelashes. I use (Kanebo) Kate mascara primer and haven't tried the Extase on its own. I have used the original DiorShow, Unlimited and Iconic and thought they were all good but not great. My favourite mascaras have been MF Masterpiece Max and ModelCo Fiberlash but just the mascara (didn't bother with the fibre part). I have also liked GA Maestro and Eyes To Kill except they smudged really badly on me. continued >>
at first i was a bit disappointed with this mascara.
the formula is pretty thick, and i hate how the tip of the wand gets a huge clump every time.
I also dont really like the wand, but the results are pretty fantastic. I am really loving this mascara now.
it really thickens and volumizes my short thin asian lashes.
doesn't really hold a curl, but it really emphasizes my lashes and makes them look so full and soft. one or 2 coats for a nice day time look, 3 coats for full and dramatic soft looking lashes. this was really amazing for me.
I actually got compliments on my lashes! I've never gotten compliments with any other mascara.
i really liked ysl faux cils, so i think i might pick up another one of those and another one of this one... and just do a comparison on which one i like better.
I love this mascara. At first I thought it was just okay, but then I let it sit for a week or so and now it really does live up to its name. It actually does what it says on my skimpy lashes. The formula aslo goes on really smooth which is an added benefit!!!
The saleslady at Dior gave me a cute little sample of this after I purchased a foundation. I was a bit apprehensive about it because she had used it on me whilst showing me the foundation, and she'd used about 30458 coats. My eyelashes had length and volume alright, but they had banded together in indignation of being assaulted with a mascara wand so many times, so it looked like I had about 5 lashes :P
But when I tried it a few days later, after curling my lashes and only using one coat, I was impressed. It made my lashes very pretty looking - long and curly and slightly voluminous. They had a lot of lift and when the formula dried, my lashes felt really soft, unlike with every other drugstore mascara I've ever bought (aside from possibly Covergirl). But its real achievement came the next morning. I looked at my eyelashes and - what? Why do my eyes look so good? Oohhh, I forgot to take off my mascara last night!
They had held their curl and length and lift not only all day, but all night as well! It looked almost as good as it had the morning I put it on.
Very impressive to me, but unfortunately I can't afford to have several mascaras on the go at once. I love mascara just as much as the next girl, but I don't see the point in splurging on something that's going to dry out within a few months. I might buy this for a special occasion, but there are mascaras for half the price that do almost the same thing.
The sample will probably last me one, possibly two months, which is awesome considering it was free ^.^
NICE! Tried it once and I'm in love...this gives length and thickness...it's not clumpy and the formula is fairly wet so you can build nice layers with it...would recommend! If you like Dior mascaras, this is certainly worth a try...a little pricey though at $35.
Wow, not many like this one. I'm super picky and I really like this. It is much more dramatic then Diorshow. It can clump if not put on the right way. It it very thickening. What I like to do is put on a light layer of Diorshow and then that extase and roll it over diorshow for a dramatic, yet clump free look. One thing I noticed from this mascara is that it is wet enough to put on another layer of mascara on when my eyelashes already have dry mascara on without giving me a spider leg look. I've never had a mascara like that would do that before. I do really love this and ordered it before I read the reviews. I'm glad I did too. I guess it just depends on what you like. My other favs are, MUF Smokey Lash, YSL Faux Effects, Diorshow blackout so as you can see I like the dramatic ones. If you want a "I'm not wearing makeup look" I'd say not for you and to maybe try Diorshow, which I guess on its own I don't find very dramatic.
Picked up this mascara on a whim - went out intending on purchasing another one, but temptation set in when the SA reminded me I could return if I didn't like... Anyway, I compared against BB Perfectly Defined and Clinique High Impact Curling (one on each eye). I would say it's VERY close to the Clinique, made my lashes a tad longer. Definitely thicker than the BB, but the BB isn't really a thickening mascara. Only negative is I have had some under eye smudging halfway through the day, which, along with the ridiculous price, is why I wouldn't purchase again. Overall, nice mascara that does really lenghten and thicken, but why does Dior feel the need to make each mascara more expensive than their last???
I really wanted to love this mascara after hearing such great reviews, but I found that it was just okay. I have stick straight lashes and while it does volumize and lengthen, it did not hold a curl throughout the day. But, if you have curly lashes, this would definitely be a hit! Loved how dark the formula was, but just wasn't for me. I'm sure one of my friends who are blessed with curled lashes will love to take it off my hands!
I was excited that Dior came out with a new mascara. Like a lot of other women Iconic and Diorshow are my favorites. I'm glad I had a gift card to purchase this since the price is quite steep.
Upon application of my second coat, the mascara started to clump. It's definitely not applied the same way I would the Iconic where I start at the base and wiggle the brush up. This is really meant to just lengthen. This is speaking from someone who already has long and fairly thick lashes. Maybe it will work better on others.
I've tried to justify my purchase but I still get clumps. I've had to use iconic first and apply this to the tips to give that extra length (which it does).
Don't think I'll be purchasing this one again.
I was so excited to try this mascara out when I saw it on Sephora's website. I bought it in the store a few days later and unfortunately, I was disappointed. It did not hold my curls at all which was very upsetting because I have stick-straight lashes. It also clumped a lot. The volume was OK and it did lengthen but I already have long long longgg lashes so that was the least of my concerns. It did the same job as my drugstore Rimmel SexyCurves mascara. You might as well buy YSL Faux Cils for this price. I give it one star for the pretty gold tube.
