This foundation does absolutely nothing for me. It melts away after 2 hours and the shaded are limited. Will not repurchase.
Got this in NW10 a few weeks ago and I love love love! So happy Mac brought out these new shades so I finally got to see what all of the fuss is about. Hope they bring out similar shades for the other foundations. I'm used to wearing Lancôme foundations and find this to be reasonably priced on comparison. I apply it with my real technique buffing brush and looks flawless but am planning to splurge on a 187 soon since it seems to be the brush everyone else is using. I find that you really need to set this foundation with a powder to achieve the flawless look. I have normal to dry skin and this suits perfectly. Coverage is good and lasts all day. Definitely a HG for me
I am SO sad that I have to rate this so poorly, because it looks beautiful on and makes my skin flawless! (My skin is so far from it, being acne prone and sensitive) If you have sensitive skin and acne prone skin, I would not recommend this product at all. Or any of their face makeup in general, really. MAC is obviously stuio/stage makeup and thats why it looks so gorgeous on and its why I am extremely upset I cannot use it anymore. I never had an issue with cystic acne, just regular pimples (a lot of them for awhile). My skin has improved quite a bit since high school but it still has a long way to go. When I started using MAC products I began getting the painful cystic acne all under my chin and all along my jawline, it was horrible! As much as the makeup looked awesome on, my skin looked just awful when I took it off. (I really would rather be ok with not having to wear makeup as much than having to always cover it up). Anyway the point is, I am just not blessed with skin that can handle MAC's facial products. And those of you with the same type, please beware I would hate to have you go through what I did with it!
i loveee this product. i am acne prone skin and this foudation doesnt make me break out. The onlyy bad this is the color matching my skin tone. Its soo hard to find the rite color.
28th May update:This foundation is advertised as oil free and non-acnegenic. I did think it was interesting that it was NOT advertised as non-comedogenic. I personally think that if you have ever had a break out with a product, you should only use non-comedogenic foundations and moisturisers. Non-comedogenic means it doesn't clog pores. Non-acnegenic seems to mean it shouldn't cause acne but it might still cause clogged pores which in acne-prone people seem to lead to acne - though I'm not a scientist so don't hold me to that. I also understand that companies can say something is non-comedogenic without being held accountable, so you need to check the ingredients yourself. I've only recently started doing this because it seems like SUCH a mission. But spending 30 mins on the ingredients list is a breeze compared to the suffering of a breakout, especially if severe. This foundation has algae extract listed as an ingredient, which is a botanical extract that is rated as a very highly pore clogging ingredient. My previous foundation from L'Oreal was advertised as non-comedogenic and checking the ingredients list, none of the ingredients were comedogenic. A+ to L'Oreal.
I think that NO cosmetic company should be producing a FOUNDATIOn (i.e. to make your skin look better) that causes it to look worse. It's like taking medicine to be sicker.
Before checking the ingredients list, I tried this product:
25th May: I love the consistency and the colour (NC35) - the yellow undertones look fresh and youthful. I used the MAC primer, let it set and then lightly applied this foundation - more heavily around my T-zone and more lightly around my jaw and lip line as that seems to be the break out risk area - my skin is fairly good if it is heavily managed.
At the end of day 1 of wear, the shade was still great (not much oxidisation), but the coverage not so great - the foundation had separated on my face, so some sat in my pores and caught to drier parts of my face and the rest had slicked off. It was pretty oily. Anyway, the next day I had two unusually large spots just above my jaw and another on top of my lip. Hmmmm. It may be the primer rather than the foundation, but still a little unimpressive.
Honestly I like the product but I got it in the new shades that came out because I was matched too "NC3.5" but I'm usually am NC20 they said it was a mixture between 20-25 so I'm like okay whatever. I tried the sample it looked dark n orangey and I went back with make up on the guy matched me to the same colour and it looked good in the mirror, brightened up my face and everything but I barely reach for it now because I feel as if I put liquid bronzer all over my face. It smells nasty but such good coverage. I have tiny dry patch near my mouth n nose probably n it really brings out my dryness I'm like oh cool thanks. So you pretty much need perfect skin to use this med-full coverage foundation but I wouldn't understand why someone who has perfect skin use this anyway if they have perfect skin. Anyways I wish I could return it or something. Waste of $45.
I have recently been on a foundation mission to see what other products are out there, and honestly nothing really beats studio fix in my mind. I have had this foundation for a very long time and I love it, but I thought I would try and see what else is out there. I have tried many different foundations, NARS, Estee lauder, Ingalot, Chanel the list goes on. While I liked some of those products, I kept going back to studio fix. My skin is combination, but all in all very easy to deal with. When I wear foundation, I actually want to feel like I have something on, I want a medium to full coverage, that does not look like I have a layer of slap on my face, but something that gives me a flawless finish and this foundation has this. It's coverage, texture, application and colour is fantastic. I also must say that although this foundation is expensive in Australia over $50 it is worth it and lasts a very long time. I would recommend this to anyone that is searching for the perfect foundation. My tip, use studio fix powder to set the foundation for an even finish. This foundation is one of my staple products. I always have to have this in my makeup collection as its my security blanket. This foundation is great for those who want that extra coverage i would say its medium to full coverage and it is buildable. The price isn't bad at all for a high end foundation and one that is good. The packaging is nice the bottle can look small but there is the right amount of product in there, I am in the shade "NC20" I struggled with finding my shade at first as i bought it offline the first time but its the perfect match they also have a wide colour range so without a doubt your skin tone will be there. I love the finish of this foundation is isn't too matte but it isn't to shiny or oily. I have oily to combination skin so sometimes i can be tricky picking out foundations and i have found this one works amazingly well on the skin! I would normally wear this on days i need a little extra coverage whether i have had a breakout or im just having a bad skin day then this foundation is perfect. I have also noticed how long lasting it is throughout the day after a while though it does start to crease and settle into any fine lines and it can become very oily especially in the T-Zone area but other then that this foundation is perfection.
This foundation was probably the 2nd MAC foundation I purchased. I used this product for a few years before trying anything else. But the older I got, the oilier I got, and this foundation became near useless to me. It didn't do anything for my acne-prone and oily skin, especially during the warmer months. Primers and powders did not help keep the foundation in place in the summer. It would for the first 2 hours, but would have to re-apply blotting powder during the day - multiple times a day. If you have VERY oily skin, you'll probably have the same opinion.
This is the only foundation I use and will continue to use. I have oily skin and this foundation provides a wonderful matte and even glowing coverage. A little goes a long way. I suggest purchasing the pump and a stipple brush. Overall amazing coverage and quality.
