I just bought this in Apricot after attempting to use the Crystal Rock deodorant for a few weeks without success. I'm very concerned about the chemicals in antiperspirants since breast cancer runs on both sides of my family, and this is the only other option I can find at any local store. I've been using it for about a week, and it only keeps the stink away for a couple pitiful hours, and I'm sitting behind a desk all day, not running marathons. The wetness is there, of course, but I can stand it as long as there's no odor. I have less body odor today than on previous days, so I'm hoping this is taking a turn for the better and starting to work with my body chemistry. The deodorant itself is lightly scented and doesn't linger long. It's an orange gel formula that glides on very easily, and the packaging says "now with hops." I haven't had any irritation at all, nor does my underarm skin have that horrible waterproof texture that I get from antiperspirants. I just wish it worked!
Edit 6/11/07: I had to give this up--it absolutely didn't work, (in fact, I'm convinced it intensified my stink) so I'm back on Secret for the time being. The search continues for a women's deodorant. continued >>

I'm a big fan of Tom's of Maine products and this deodorant is one of my faves. It purports to be unscented, but does have a pleasant, natural smell. I wouldn't wear it out on a date or a special occasion because the deodorant (it's not an anti-perspirant) doesn't last all day. But it's wonderful for every day use.

Yes, I agree with the many that pointed out natural deodorants don't work as well. I am of the opinion, though, that the human body was designed to sweat and stopping that is not natural. But, I also don't like to stink. Further, there is so much concern lately about Aluminum, chemicals and parabens, etc. I pick my battles with these. It is too hard to cut chemicals and parabens out completely since they are practically ubiquitous, so I just cut it out when I can. I use Tom's deodorant on MOST days but certainly not all. If I know there is a day when I will be in air conditioning all day or it is the dead of winter in Chicago, I will use this. If I plan to sweat, I would certainly not use this product. It just won't do the job if you are planning to be hot and sweaty. But, I still like this product. I just don't expect it to be as effective as an antiperspirant. BTW, in the naturals category, the EarthScience "liken plant" natural deodorant is good too.

Awful. Burned my armpits, made the skin film off, and left me with hyperpigmentation.

Another disappointment on my quest of trying to find a good natural deodorant. I went shopping today and I had major BO. Yuck! I would not recommend this at all.

I start to stink after just a few hours. Makes me feel like an incurable stinker. Also makes me lose faith in these "all natural" products. There is a reason why products went "un- natual" in the first place. "Un-natural" products work.

Normally I use Mitchum because I tend to sweat a lot and it's not exactly pleasant. However, the whole hoo-ha surrounding aluminum in deodorants has started to concern me, so I wanted to try an aluminum-free one.

Although the Tom's stuff isn't an anti-perspirant, I decided to give it a try anyway. The honeysuckle rose scent is sweet without being overpowering. I've only used it for two days, and even though of course I still do sweat, there is no odour, which was not the case when using Mitchum. I suppose I'll have to give it a few more days to see if it pays off, but I'm definitely liking this no sweaty odour thing.

This was so-so. It only partly prevented underarm odour. I stopped using because after a few weeks my armpits became very itchy with peeling skin. I don't have sensitive skin, so this was unexpected and most certainly due to the Tom's. When I switched to another non-aluminium deodorant (UltraBan, I think), the rash quickly stopped.

First I've used Tom's natural deodorant and found it so so, I did end up smelling by the end of the day. However, Tom's Natural Long Lasting deodorant is a HUGE improvement. It's the same great natural product, but it works 10x better regarding smell. It's a hard product to find on the drugstore shelf, but worth the search if you want an effective aluminum free product. Yes, I sweat a ton, much more than the average person, I always have. This product does not stop the wetness, but it is effective against odor and it's natural - a big plus in my book. I am currently using the Lavender scent, very nice and not overpowering. Also, I have no irritation when I use this product, it goes on smooth and somewhat cooling, even right after shaving.

Let me start by saying that I am one of those people who, for whatever reason, sweats more than the average joe. I always used Mitchum and most recently, a Dutch deodorant/antiperspirant that is AWESOME but I have to get my in-laws to bring it with them when they visit or get it there and bring it back. But I digress. I have heard so much about the aluminum in anti-perspirants being a possible carcinogen that I wanted to change to non-aluminum. I bought the Lemongrass scent of Tom's natural deodorant (I also bought Burt's Bees natural deoderant which has alcohol and stings like hell if you put it on after shaving, but it WORKS). The Tom's doesn't work as well as Burt's Bees, but it's okay. I noticed yesterday after a particularly grueling 5 hour car ride that I STANK afterwards, and I showered and used Tom's deodorant right before I left, so it doesn't work all that well for me. Three lippies for being natural and smelling nice and unisex.
