I'm simply in love with this cleanser. The product itself is natural and gentle, and packaging is minimal and recycled--great for those of us who don't care about pretty bottles as long as something works. I'm generally quite oily and a bit acne-prone, and I find the gentle exfoliation very refreshing. I feel clean without that tight, dry feeling, and since I've been using it, I've noticed that I break out much less often and less severely than I did with cleansers containing typical acne medications.
I personally love the smell; it's clean and herbal. And the cleanser is easy to use. It's a bit messy when you're first learning how to work with Lush, but when you get used to it, it's no worse than a typical cream or gel cleanser. When I first began using it, my skin freaked out a bit because I'd never touched anything natural, but after my adjustment period (even the sales associates will tell you that it's best to try it for two weeks unless you're having an allergic reaction) I've been pleased as pie.
I highly doubt I'll ever go back to another cleanser.
I really wanted to like this product and even tried using it a couple more times, when it was clear that it was causing sensitivities, but this product just did not agree with my skin. The first time I tried using it it made my skin a little pink, I used it a couple more times and it produced the same results. I love the smell though and it creates a milky substance when combined with water. I'm not fond of dipping my fingers into a container either. For the price and it's effectiveness or lack of effectiveness, I will not be purchasing this product.
Made me break out. Smell is kind of awful at first but when you get use to it it really isn't that bad. I wanted to like it but sadly didn't work for me.
Great cleanser for dry skin. It also very gently exfoliates.
My skin feels really good after I use this cleanser. No dryness or sensitivity.
I am in love with this product! Who would have thought something so simple can do so much for your skin? I've been using this cleanser for about 2 years now, and I refuse to use anything else! It gently exfoliates, and cleanses. I rarely get breakouts anymore and I really think it is because of this product, in addition to the rest of the LUSH skincare that I use! Try it! You won't regret it!
Despite some cons, this is overall a really nice cleanser for sensitive skin in need of gentle exfoliation. I have somewhat dry skin and this never made my face feel tight or dried out like some of my gel cleansers. The ground almonds provide the exfoliation without being too harsh. My skin always feels fresh and clean after using this. The main scent coming from this is lavender which is pleasant enough. The consistency reminds me of soft play-doh.
THE CONS: This will not remove makeup so I just use this in the morning. As many have stated the packaging and presentation of the cleanser leaves something to be desired. It takes a little more time to pinch off just the right amount, add just the right amount of water and blend. Don't get me wrong, it's not a deal breaker, it's just something to get used to with most LUSH products.
It's also a bit pricey especially factoring in shipping cost if I wanted to repurchase since I don't live anywhere near LUSH.
For these reasons I probably won't be repurchasing but if if I'm ever near a LUSH again I'm sure I'll have to pick something up and try it. There products are unique, good quality and fun.
This cleanser has made a LOT of difference in my skin. Let's start with my skintype...I'm dry and sensitive & acne-prone (yay, right?). I also have acne-scarring.
This stuff smells AMAZING and it's soooo gentle. The lavender in it is good for scarring and also very soothing for dry, sensitive skin. It also has ground up almonds in it so that it's a bit of an exfoliator. Holy crap ~ my skin is CLEAR for the first time ever and sooooo soft. The only thing it hasn't helped with is the scarring. I still need a foundation to even everything out. But I can imagine that in time it will help with that too.
I used this a few years ago, when my skin was more combination than it is now (now it's just dry all over, with sebborheic dermatitis and rosacea issues). It's gentle, but messy to use and after a week or so of use, I started to get nice, juicy, very poppable zits appearing on my nose, chin and cheeks. I do not suffer from acne and the spots went away when I stopped using it, so I definitely put it down to this product. I have since discovered that products with a lot of 'natural' oils - or even straight oil-cleansing, will always have the same result on my skin - zits. Definitely will never repurchase.
First a note on Lush products in general and my skin. I used to work for Lush so I am very familiar with their products and their ingredients. Considering the quality of the natural ingredients that goes into Lush products, I think their facial skincare is reasonably priced, epecially when compared to other 'more sophisticated' natural brands such as Liz Earle and Neal's Yard. Unfortunately the packaging isn't as luxurious or pretty. I digress... moving on to my skin... it's normal-combination and sensitive in the sense that all hell breaks loose when I use harsh products, think foaming agents and salicylic acid. Ironically anti-acne skincare causes it to break out like crazy. I am very much of the opinion that harsh products ruin the balance of skin; if you strip off all of its oils, it will overcompensate by producing more and that can cause blemishes. I would recommend Angels on Bare Skin particularly for people who suffer from this problem because it's wonderfully gentle and cleanses effectively. Having said that, it's great for all skin types but better suited more to those with normal/combination/oily skin as those with dryer skin can afford to opt for something richer. It's also wonderful because it gently exfoliates with the ground almonds, the lavender aids cell renewal and rose helps to balance and calm. It's a cocktail of natural lovlieness in a pot! My only gripe with it is that it's so darn messy! I've removed one lippy for this and because, if you're in a rush, it's quite a performance to mix this into a paste!
I like the feel of this gentle scrub and how it doesn't leave my face tight and dry after use. However, I break out EVERY TIME I use this. (I use a cleansing oil, then AoBs, then toner) I switched back to my old cleanser and my skin is calm again. Will not repurchase!
