I accidentally picked this one up instead of the gentle cleanser which is what i usually get. So I was a bit surprised when I used this one! So far I do like it though, gives a very nice clean feeling without being dry and tight on my skin. I will use this bottle up and update my review again when I get to know it more ; D
***EDIT** So I used this for only like 3 days and I returned it for the gentle skin cleanser version. This stuff has a really really strong scent in it which I really do not like. I think it was drying my skin out and starting to clog my pores as well. I LOVE the gentle version so Im switching it for that and next time Ill remember not to accidently pick up this one!
**EDIT** I have to admit I'm missing the 'clean feel' and some sort of lather and form action.
I am currently exiting the hormonal acne phase at 24 and for the last 8 months or so my skin has cleared up dramatically. It wasn't due to any specific product and like many others suffering from acne I tried countless of products to try get rid of it.
With my skin now pretty much blemish free except for minor scarring I have decided to move on from acne treatment cleansers to gentle cleansers. I have to admit, with all my skin care on the higher end and beautifully packaged (but working great for me nonetheless) made me hesitant to try because of the boring almost ugly looking bottle. I bit the bullet anyway because I knew it was ridiculous and am so happy I did!
I have gotten so used to cleansers stripping everything off my skin thinking it was best for my acne, had me so used to that 'clean' feeling. Initially I felt uncomfortable, almost as if my face wasn't clean enough and hating the thought that I still had gunk on my face and that it would cause me to break out, I stuck to it anyway and soon realised (together with too many swipes of toner soaked cotton pads) that my face was definitely clean but not at the expense of hydration!
My skin has never felt so soft after cleansing which is pretty amazing!
Still wish it came in a nicer bottle and a little lather and foam would be nice, but fussiness aside, this is a really great product!

I am a satisfied user of Cetaphil bar soap - but I decided to try this product out for two reasons
1 - It's by Cetaphil, which is known to be dermatologist-approved and skin-friendly
2- It's marketed for Oily AND sensitive skin - I thought it would work for my blemish-prone skin.
I'll admit - I didn't read the ingredients before purchasing this product...I just trusted that Cetaphil would be gentle and safe...BIG MISTAKE.
After using it for around a week, I started breaking out in places I don't usually break out (on the lower part of my cheek). Also, I found this cleanser waxy and hard to wash off...since I hadn't changed anything else about my skincare routine, I took a closer look at the cleanser's ingredient list - and it has CASTOR OIL!
Now - even when my skin wasn't as problematic and could tolerate SOME oils (like rosehip oil and jojoba oil) it would ALWAYS react badly to castor oil...so I can't understand why Cetaphil would put this in a cleanser for OILY and SENSITIVE skin...it was definitely not their best decision - luckily I was able to return my purchase and get a cleanser with gentler ingredients.

I think I may have found my go to cleanser for a long time here. My skin is combo - flaking in areas and oily t zone. I used tretinoin (Retin A) which makes my cheeks flake. I was trying to use the normal Cetiphil Gentle Cleanser to remove makeup and again to cleanse my face and it just did not feel clean. It felt like it left a film. I think it was probably just that it is so gentle that it leaves the oils your skin naturally makes, which is great if you have dry skin. I happened to try this version while camping with my husband. I gave him this cleanser when I accidentally bought it thinking it was the Gentle one. I should have kept it! This stuff is great! I wash twice, once to remove makeup and once to cleanse. It does not dry my skin out or leave it feeling overly tight. Gradually I think my skin is beginning to balance itself. Today I did not experience flaking and that is great. My skin feels clean afterwards and it removes all my eye makeup as well without a lot of rubbing. (I do not use waterproof though). Great stuff! Cetaphil cleansers are the best out there! If you have normal/dry go with the Gentle Cleanser, you will LOVE it. If you have Normal/Combo/Oily try this version, it will do everything a good cleanser should without any false claims.
Update: Still LOVE it! I have been trying out the famed Purity cleaner by Philosophy and just happened to try this again for a few days... I forgot how much I love it!
One of the best cleansers I have ever tried. I doesnt remove eye make up but that's fine.
It leaves my skin feeling soft and clen without drying it.
I have oily skin, with dry patches in a few places. Like my nose sometimes gets really dry.
The smell is very subtle.
This one and Effaclar bar are my 2 favorites in the world.
Cetaphil + Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel = love
Love it, have been using it for years. Removes all oil without drying my cheeks up! Super cheap.

First things off, I did not buy this product I got some samples from my local walgreens, and teh first thing I thought after my firt use was dry. When I purchase a cleanser I expect it to ot dry out my face like the sahara desert, but to leave some moisture behind and this didn't give me this moisture. The reason I gave this 2 lippies is because it does clean your face; but I expect more out of my cleancer; also this does hae a slight fragrance which I don't like.
I have been using the Gentle Skin Cleanser for about year, since I was diagnosed with Rosacea. I have my rosacea under control along with using Clean & Clear Deep Action Cleanser for sensitive skin. However, about a few months ago, I started to break out really bad (unknown causes), and my doctor asked me to use steroid cream. It was better at first, but after using it for a month it worsen my rosacea. I've searched online and found something called "steroid induced rosacea". I think that is what happen to me, and for those who has rosacea, no matter how bad your skin situation is, never use anything that contain steroid. Even since my face becomes more sensitive, and i have to deal with these red bumps on my face. I went back to my derm, and she asked me to use Finacea (to clear the redness, red bumps, and pimples). It has been really helping me so far, but at the same time I feel like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Clean & Clear cleanser stopped working for me. Also the Cetaphil lotion with SPF 50 that I've been using for over a year also stopped working for me, and also causing a bit irritation to my face. But I still like Cetaphil a lot, so I thought maybe I can try using the other cleanser that they have for Normal to Oily Skin since I have oily skin. I started to use it for the first time last night, and when I wake up this morning.............bad bad bad......I broke out like crazy with zits and red bumps..........then I realized on my last visit to my derm, she gave me some samples of Cerave Hydrating cleanser and lotion. She said it works the same like Cetaphil if I ever want to try something different. Thank god I kept the samples, after washing my face with Cerave, it calms my face a lot, and 70% of my redness are gone, specially after I applied the lotion. I will continue to use it for a few more days before I put up my reviews for Cerave cleanser & Lotion. continued >>

I have oily to combination skin, I used to use Cetaphil many years ago when I was pregnant with my oldest son, as pregnancy throws your hormones out of whack, everything was breaking me out. I then switched to proactive then quit because of their customer service. After having gone back to proactive and it doing nothing for my breakout skin, I decided to try Cetaphil again. After about three days I could already see a huge improvement in my skin and the overall appearance. I will continue to use this product forever-now that I have found what works I am not letting this go!
