I've been using this for 8 months and I love it. I'm an occasional smoker and I can tell that after I've been smoking my teeth look a bit yellow, I use this once a week for 15-20 minutes and I can see results immediately after I remove it! I've used Crest Whitestrips and they don't even compare to this, and it's probably 1/6 of the price.
I tried this and I'm only on my second day, but so far I'm disappointed. I can't really tell the difference, but i will continue to use this until I run out. I will update accordingly if any changes occur.
If anybody has any tips for me on how to use this stuff, please message me. Did any of you use it for a while (like a week or more) before you started noticing anything?
I have to say I am very dissapointed with this product - especially with all the wonderful reviews on it here. I have been using this for around a week and a half now. I apply it with a Q-tip, then leave it on for about 10-15 minutes with my specially made teeth mold to keep the gel on. I still have yellowed teeth - they just still look dingy. Basically, they still look the same color they did when I began using this. I have also tried professional at-home whitening gel and crest whitestrips and my teeth refuse to get lighter. Perhaps my teeth are resistant to whitening? :(
I wanted a system that was easy, didn't make me feel clausterphobic and gaggy, and actually worked as I am going on a vacation to LA next month. I drink alot of coffee and I feel like that was dulling my teeth. So based on the reviews here I got this - and I am so glad I did! It was about 7 bucks for the large tube of whitening gel. I painted it on my teeth with a q-tip and let it sit for about 10 minutes and rinsed. I did that again the next night, then did 5 minutes twice per day for a couple weeks. My teeth are definitely white again! I love how this doesn't cause any irritation and doesn't have those annoying strips that never seem to work right. It's also takes way less time - I can actually whiten my teeth noticeably while I shower every day and take off my make up at night. I could talk and swallow and everything with the gel on my teeth, I am so glad to have finally found an actual whitening product that I can tolerate! I will definitely repurchase this one!
I've been roaming Walmart for a while now looking for a good whitener. I've used gels designed to apply right to the teeth, but since I had trays made to fit my teeth, I put them on to hold the gel in place. I've always overlooked this, it's one of those "too good to be true" gimics that would either not work or make my teeth sensitive. When I hopped on MUA, I ran across the review by accident, and was surprised to see that everyone answered "yes" to would you buy this product again. I gave it a shot, and bought the kit including the rinse, guard, and gel for $6.98 or so. I just got done using it for the first time. The rinse I'm a little uneasy about it. It taste kind of like you're rinsing with a chemical that will potentially kill you. That's ok, it made my teeth feel very clean. I put the gel on with a Q-Tip, and then put the guard on top for 15 minutes. The guard is a little awkward to use, but works very well, I could even swallow with it in! After the 15 minutes, I rinsed off the gel and although I didn't notice much of a change, my teeth seemed a little brighter (not really whiter, if that makes sense). I'll have to update after the full two weeks is up.
Edit: One week in, and my teeth are a lot whiter. I've even got a couple compliments from people at work!
Edit 2: About two weeks in. My teeth look beautiful! I even skipped two days inbetween, and they still look great!
Edit 3: I stopped using this after my second edit, as my teeth were significantly whiter and I didn't think I needed it anymore. It's now a month after I stopped using it, and my teeth are still gleaming!
I've tried all kinds of whitening products over the years, few if any really worked well. All made my teeth sensitive. Crest white Strips were the most painful. You couldn't pay me to use those again! Whitening toothpastes are a nice idea, but don't work any better than regular toothpaste. After reading reviews here, I decided to spend the big $7 and give Plus White shot. I'm so glad I did! It actually works - really well and it's pain free! I have zero complaints about this product. It's a big tube and lasts a long time. What's a little mess, just use less. Rinse well. No big deal. For $7 this is a steal. Just put a little in the soft pliable tray; don't go all the way to the ends; just enough for the center top & bottom. Put it in and make sure the gel squishes up to cover the whole tooth and let it sit per package directions. Rinse and you're done. No pain and after a few days, whiter teeth. Make sure you brush your teeth prior to using, it'll work better.
I'll definitely repurchase and I highly recommend you try it!
I read the reviews for this a few days ago, then went out and purchased a tube @ Walgreen's for $7. I drink black tea constantly and the tannins have yellowed my teeth quite a bit. I had used Crest Whitestrips years ago but I didn't like the price, the way the strips came off, and how sensitive my gums would get.
So I chose this particular product and applied it using a
mouth tray that came from one of those $1 whitening kits. They aren't the world's best but you can make them comfortable by cutting down the tray to fit your mouth better.
I've used it two days now, yesterday for around 15 minutes and today for 20. I'm really seeing results already! My teeth are a few shades lighter, and I'm hopeful that they will get much, much whiter yet.
So far I've had only a tiny bit of sensitivity on top of one tooth, and no gum sensitivity whatsoever.
My one qualm is that it's difficult to squeeze the gel out of the tube onto the tray without making a mess or using too much. They really needed to package it with a narrower tip.
Would definitely repurchase. A steal @ $7.
I can't believe this product doesn't get more love here on MUA. I read the reviews on drugstore.com and it has great reviews. As a very heavy coffe drinker ( and i love dark chocolate) i am always on the search for the perfect on the go dental whitener. After trying strips, liquids and toothpastes- i found my-self unhappy all the time because of either dental sensivity or very suttle changes. Desperate for help i saw this at walgreens for only 10$ -it includes a pre-whitening rinse, tray & gel ( also available $ 5 for just the gel). I figured that it looked cheap and it's probably going to suck- but with only 10$ to risk i went for it.
Came home -tried to use it as directed, didn't work for me. the tray has way to much space ,my teeth never even touched the gel. So i trimmed the ends of the tray to make it smaller for my tiny jaw. in order for this to have contact w/ my teeth I would really have to bite down on the trays (which were super soft -so that's a plus ) & that was very uncomfy. Then i read about the q-tip application and tried it-obvioulsy my lips touched the gel and i has drool everywhere, but i just rolled two cotton rounds/squares into little sausages and put them between my lips & gums. Worked like a charm & absorbs the saliva as well. Now be warned that you will look like an ape- but the results were amazing!
I used it three times for 20mins & let me tell you -my teeth look really great- even hubby noticed ( will test that on him later) . Out of all the products i have used- this gave me the fastest and most dramatic results. It completly made up the time i wasted figuring out how to keep the gel on my teeth. And no sensitivity ( i can only take crest strips for two days in the row-so i'm very sensitve!)!!!!
Bottom line: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!! (at least try it- it's only $ 5 for the whole tube!!!)
I usually get Crest Whitestrips every year as a Christmas gift, but this year I noticed my teeth were looking dull already. I stopped into CVS the other day thinking about trying a whitening toothpaste. I saw this for only $5.00 (on sale). You apply it directly to your teeth with a q-tip and leave on for 5 minutes. I like that I can talk, swallow, etc without worrying about strips or trays sliding around. I've done 6 treatments (3 days) and I see a HUGE difference! For how inexpensive this stuff is, it really works!
I bought this at Shoppers Drug Mart the other day when I went out to buy some type of whitening product to use with my whitening toothpaste to hopefully boost the minimal results. This was the only non-strip type product available and much cheaper than any of the other products. I was sure it was probably garbage considering the major price difference from the other products (about $6.50 CAD compared to $30-$70 CAD) and that the box resembled the cheap-looking "As Seen On TV" style of packaging. I decided to try it anyways since the strips are all fairly expensive and I don't know whether they'll work either. From what I understand, this product used to come with a whitening tray. Now they just expect you to apply it to bare teeth with a cotton swap and try to leave it on for 5 minutes, which has proven to be very difficult for me. The gel doesn't want to stay in place, especially on my lower teeth where the saliva gathers, and it makes the insides of my lips feel weird. With a tray, I imagine this would sooo much easier! However, I've used it 4 times now (2 days of treatments) and I am seeing a small improvement already, so I guess it still manages to work in these less-than-ideal conditions! I guess I should add that I'm also a non-smoker and I don't drink coffee, tea or wine, so my teeth aren't that far from white to begin with, not to mention that I'm also using a peroxide toothpaste (Colgate Visible White) 2-3 times daily. I have yet to experience any sensitivity, even with using two whitening products together, but my teeth have never been sensitive. I guess only time will tell how well this stuff really works. It's only been 2 days so I've still got a long ways to go. I'll update my review if/as needed.
Update 08/30/2008: I've been getting really frustrated trying to get this gel to stay on my teeth (and off my lips) for any amount of time, so I had an idea today. I cut up some old costume vampire fangs to use as whitening trays. I'll see how that goes.
Update 08/31/2008: So, the vampire fangs makeshift whitening trays do help. I need to find some cheap ones that fit better though because the only ones I had (just really cheap ones that came with some fake blood from a past halloween costume) are way too big and square for my jaw and are painful to wear. Should be easy enough to find different ones right now considering that most of the stores have their halloween stuff out already. They just have to fit around my teeth half decently. I feel pretty goofy wearing them twice a day but they're a lot cheaper than buying whitening trays and they keep the peroxide on my teeth and off my lips! Sometimes you just have to be creative!
Update 09/09/08: I stopped using this for a bit as I was frustrated with the application, but then I started again, trying different ways... and my teeth are definitely looking whiter! They're not quite paper white but definitely noticeably whiter. I'd highly recommend this product. You just need to have patience. I've never tried Crest Whitestripes but from what I've read and understand, this is probably more effective... and so much cheaper! And probably a lot less sensitizing compared to a lot of the whitening products. I still haven't experienced any sensitivity while using this product. The worst it'll do is make the insides of my lips feel weird if I don't protect them.
Update 10/29/2008: I'm still using this on and off as needed and will be starting my second tube soon. It really does make a difference. I can get my teeth looking almost paper white with just this product and an Arm & Hammer toothpaste. I noticed the bottoms of my lower front teeth (where I was a bit lazy with application before) were looking stained in contrast to my now-whiter upper teeth, so I started focusing the gel application more in those areas and the difference in colour is now becoming less obvious as those areas are becoming whiter as well. I would recommend giving this stuff a try. It's cheap enough to take a gamble on anyways.
