(First, about my hair: I have virgin hair - never permed/colored, straight, long and coarse.) I have been using this serum for years now, and I absolutely love it! My first foray into hair serums was with Frizz Ease, and this is comparable to that, just better smelling and less sticky, making it easier to apply to the hair. For me, it's best applied to wet hair before styling, but oh my gosh, does it ever get rid of frizz! It smells fantastic, is easily absorbed and when I use this in combination with my flat iron, I have the straightest, softest, smoothest hair ever! I do have to add that I do NOT use this everyday (at most I'll use it once a week), as I try not to use heat on my hair, but for special occasions, this is it for me!
This is so over hyped!! It's ok when you put it on wet hair, helped define my curls a little bit, but nothing special. Its really filmy and greasy, and smells pretty horrendous. It smells chemically and perfumy. But the worst part is what it does in the long run. It actually damages and dries out your hair until it turns to straw!! Why? Because it's main ingredient is alcochol. And its somewhere around $12 for the tiny bottle, and by the way, it takes a LOT of this to see any result. Want a much better oil/serum? Try Joico k-pak. Just by reading the ingredients list you can tell its far superior. It contains various botanical extracts and keratin and nowhere is alcohol on the list. Plus, it smells like heaven! Once I tried this serum I have never looked back, it makes my curls look like liquid gold. Yes, its pricey. But so is biosilk. The only difference is that Joico is worth it.
UPDATE: I must have gotten a fake or something because I tried it at my friends house and it was GREAT!! The smell was nice and peachy and it actually worked!! It made my hair smooth and shiny. However, I still dislike the ingredients (just dimethicones and alcohol) so I save it for special occasions when I do my hair fancy.
LOVE this! I usually have really dry ends, but after my last haircut I started using this and my ends are soo much better, and not very dry at all (5 months after the haircut). I put just a little bit in damp hair which makes it really soft :)
The first couple times I used this my hair looked great, I had a little sample bottle and I only used it once in a while. Then I bought a full size bottle and started to use it more frequently, about every hair wash 2/3 times a week. I only use a small drop en then blow dry my hair, my hair still looked nice and shiny when I used it but after a while I started to notice that it dried my hair out. I believe that this only coats your hair (silicone) on the outside to make it look good but because of the high alcohol contents in this product your hair actually becomes dryer and dryer. It's not a bad serum if you don't use it to often but I would not recommend it. Your hair will be better off with a serum that contains no or less alcohol.
I've used this twice so far and I really like it! I got the small size of the silk therapy in a travel set for a really good deal- and I always wanted to try it so I was pretty happy :) I've been having horrible dry split ends lately, especially from going swimming a lot the past couple weeks. Nothing really seemed to moisturize my ends enough until my next cut. I used some of the silk oil on my ends after a shower and wasn't too impressed at first- I used too little (I had assumed it would be too greasy if I put more than a pea sized amount in but I was wrong. ). The second time I had just re-hennad my hair and I used a good quarter-1.5 quarter amount of oil in ALL of my hair and my ends are so smooth! I love it love it! Very shiny and sleek, still volumized etc. Really like this :)
This is a good product although I think it is a little bit overrated in the internet, since it is not much different from other serums out there like the one from frizz ease. My fine curly hair can easily absorb too much of this stuff and start look really oily and plain dirty so really have to be carefull when putting it on towel-dried hair when I don't see how oily my strands can get. But I definetely like the light watery texture and how it glides on my hair making it soft and silky. I use it on the tips of my hair warming it between the palms of my hands first to get rid of alcohol in it (advise from my hairdressed). Also don't forget to shake the bottle well before applying it to hair, otherwise you'll only get alcohol gathered and the top of the bottle. Will repurchase when I run out, good that it is also available in large bottles online.
Gotta love this product! I used to have soft and silky virgin hair back in highschool, but after 7 years of daily straightening and constant trips to my HD for a new colour, my hair is extremely dry and damaged, to the point where there's heaps of spit ends and constant breakages. Now I'm trying to get my hair back into shape, the first thing I did was invest in a good leave-in conditioner/treatment, and I have to say I absolutely love this product! The first time I used this product was on dry hair and it instantly made it feel so smooth and silky! The second time I used it was on towel-dried/damp hair before blow-drying and straightening. I prefer to use this on dry hair - really drinks it up. It is very easy to overuse as the sqeeze-bottle packaging has to be the worst aspect of this product and you could end up with a handful of serum before you know it. Being of an oil/serum consistency, it really should be packed into a pump-action bottle to save on product and minimise wastage. But otherwise, excellent product and I'll definitely buy again!
My hair isn't neccisarily oily or dry but it can get seriously puffy. This is one of the only products than can fix it without making it oily (as long as you use the correct amount.) I love this stuff!
This is my HG product for my hair. I only use this after I shampoo and deep condition my hair. Nothing else. I love it!
I have long, non-processed, naturally straight hair. It is fine & can get oily at the roots fairly easily; however, I can usually get away with shampooing every other day (at least in winter!). I have had a travel-sized tube of this for a few years now. Yes, one bottle! I do not use it daily, but occasionally for touch-ups on the go/detangling, etc. since I normally carry it in my daily purse.
I apply about 1/2 dime-sized amount (if that!) to my hair from the nape of my neck to the ends, usually when my hair is fully dry. This stuff, in my opinion, is well worth the price!! I think the larger bottles would last me about a decade (haha).
Another bonus? No residue--you can just maasage any remaining product (after applying to hair) right back into/onto your hands! I have sensitive skin & it's never bothered my skin, it has just made it softer! The smell is not my favorite, to be honest, but not bad--it's pretty light once it absorbs and would not deter me from
buying it again!
This stuff can be a little beauty lifesaver, especially if you keep a little bottle with you on the go! ;)
