I urge you to try a sample before buying- my roommate broke out but my skin loves this stuff. I have combination skin- super oily between the eyebrows- semi oily forehead and nose- normal/dry everywhere else.
I received two samples of this and I LOVE it. The first sample lasted 2 1/2 weeks, the 2nd sample lasted 3 1/2 weeks. I admit I was scared at first because of the oily parts of my skin- but I found that when I stuck to the one-to-two drop recommendation per area- that's when I found the best results. It absorbs fairly quickly- and you have to resist the urge to pile on more as you would a normal moisturizer- I don't think it's meant to be used that way. I avoided using this in the oiliest part of my skin (right b/w the eyebrows) because it did feel like it was clogging my pores there.
I use this under the Kieh'ls Ultra Facial Moisturizer at night. After I wash my face in the morning- the combination of both products is making my skin very fresh- bright- and plump. I find I am using less oil sheets during the day (used to use 3 through out the day- now I use one in the middle of the day)- my makeup goes on so much smoother and the overall condition of my skin has definitely improved. I find that my daytime moisturizer (Clean and Clear dual action moisturizer) also works even better now.
I'm moved on to the full size now- and I don't think I can turn back.
O I want to love this product for I've heard rave reviews of it.
Unfortunately after two days of application I have had a breakout - somewhat similar descript to previous reviews: superficial pimples in areas of my skin I NEVER used to get spots. :(
My skin is pretty resilient, would not classify as sensitive. Thus I'd urge you to use a sample before making purchase!!!!
I received a sample of this, and was skeptical. I also received a sample of the toner and cleaner which we just "meh". Didn't do anything for my skin either way. But the serum is lovely. After I'm finished the serum I'm working on now, I may consider buying this.
The texture is extremely light and silky, not greasy at all. Application is quick and easy but it's not moisturizing enough for me. Did not wake up with better skin. Definitely prefer creams. Will not repurchase.
Oh my goodness, do I LOVE this product! It's worth every penny. Every night I put a few drops on the palms of my hands and gently pat into my face. It sinks in immedately and leaves no greasy feel. It has a very mild lavendar scent. The next morning my skin looks velvety and refreshed.
(If you go to the Kiehls stores a lot you can usually score a couple of samles of this--I once used a single sample for five days straight!)
I received a sample of this in a mini glass bottle when this product was first launched and the sample lasted FOREVER. I just bought a full size version after seeing pretty awesome results on my skin. I have normal/combo skin which gets drier in winter and last month I have some menstrual-related breakouts. I put this stuff on and overnight the breakouts had significantly calmed down. I also spent about 6 weeks in a very high altitude mountain town this winter and this stuff was a real skin saver up there. I never woke up feeling dry when I put this on at night. My skin feels smoothed and refreshed and kind of plumped. In the winter it's good for daily use but I noticed that in warmer weather, it seems to work better used a few times a week. I have both patted and rubbed this in and noticed no real difference between the techniques. I tend to use more like 4 drops in winter. Whatever is in this stuff, it works and the price for a serum is phenomenal. The tiny sample bottle lasted me for ages so I can only imagine how long the full size will last. Very well priced and effective product with good packaging. I'll definitely repurchase and recommend to friends. BTW, I use this over my Skyn Iceland night cream.
UPDATE: Bought a full size of this and it's amazing. With prolonged use (a few months now), my skin glows. I took it with me when I stayed in a high-elevation ski town this winter where it is EXTREMELY dry and this stuff saved my skin. If I had any flakes from skiing or windburn, my skin was perfect by the next morning. For $45 CDN, this is incredible and a great buy. I hope Kiehls never discontinues this.
I received this product as a sample from a Kiehl's store, and considering you're only supposed to use 2-3 drops it was quite a large sample. I was impressed that they would use a glass dropper bottle for the sample sized, which is great for traveling since I can just refill it.
I haven't been paying attention to my skin care for quite some time other than using pro-active, and working night shift can be hell on my skin. I actually expected to hate this product because it's basically oil concentrate, and with adult-acne I was sure I'd be pimply by morning. I was surprised to find that this was a very fast, clean absorbing product that left me feeling only very slightly oily. My skin certainly glowed in the morning after just one use and I noticed a reduction in the bumps on my skin. I will be purchasing the full sized product ASAP.
If I have a negative reaction down the road I'll update, but I was impressed enough after just one night to go ahead and post a review.
I find this product works best when my skin is dehydrated or in need of a pick-me-up. The oil blend sinks well and leaves my complexion looking soothed & well-rested. Its not an essential product in my routine but I love it enough to keep it in my weekly arsenal or for a treat for my skin. I have normal/combo skin thats prone to clogging and this has never aggravated my skin or caused blackheads. The glass bottle in a gorgeous midnight blue has a dropper affixed to dispense the right amount of product. I recently brought a vial with me on a business trip and it kept my skin in great condition.
I received a generous sample dropper bottle of this with a Kiel's purchase at Neiman Marcus. I read up on it here to see if I wanted to try it, or put it in my give away basket. So, I tried it, and its ok, but I'm not seeing what the other positive reviewers did. I don't find that it makes my skin any softer than my other night creams do, and no difference in how I look during the day after it on the previous night. It has a nice inoffensive scent, is lightweight, no grease slick after applying, but no real effect either. I did follow directions and pat it onto my skin rather than rubbing. First night I used the recommended 2-3 drops, next night, when I went to pick it up, I found I'd not screwed it tight the night before and it tipped over and spilled on my mirrored vanity tray, so I used some of the puddle on my skin, probably a lot more than 3 drops equivalent, but still no better results. Then, last night I used it on one half of my face, and my Avon Gold Emulsion on the other, in the morning the Avon side was actually softer and more hydrated looking. Perhaps the Kiels helps with hyper-pigmentation and inflammation, but this is not much of a problem for me, I do have a very few small melasma which I've been treating for a few months now, and any change would have to be gradual I'm thinking. I didn't dislike it, had no bad reaction, did not wake dehydrated the next morning or anything, just did not find it is a product that works particularly well for me.
I wish I could love this essential oil. However, for combination skin, I believe It's a little oily. I got a sample, and applied on my face and my neck. Just two days, I got the break out on my face and my neck! And it took one week for them to disappear. I agree it's a very good product for dry skin.
