I love this product. Perfect coverage and more importantly, perfect color (NW25). Prior to discovering Studio Finish, I tried about a million other foundations, including Bare Minerals, which didn't quite live up to the hype. I've tried other liquids but nothing works as well as this stuff. Definitely recommend to anyone who wears liquid foundation.
I completely agree with babeybearz! You really need to have a good brush to apply the foundation but I suppose you have to have good brushes anyway because that is the key for everything. The Fix Fluid was my first MAC foundation that was chosen by professionals for me and i love it. I have oily skin and of course I use prep and prime primer but I love its texture and it really gives my skin a great tone. It smells wonderful and makes me smile while applying it (do not laugh). Definitely a good choice if you don't want to wear a mask or if you have oily skin!
I had to use a lot of it to get full coverage, but it made me look plastic and it looked really oily. When I used less, it matched my skin tone exactly but the coverage wasn't good at all- all my scars were still visible but it did give my skin a nice glow and it looked really natural.
EDIT- I like this foundation a lot more now. I apply it with a cotton bud now and rub it in. The assistants picked a shade for me and it does match me perfectly. As I said before the coverage is quite light but it does even out my skin tone, but still doesn't cover blemishes. As I am still a teen I've decided I do want quite light coverage instead of a heavy caked face like some others.. It is really hard to set though and it does come off on stuff so you have to be careful!
I don't know why this product is getting mixed reviews... I thought it was AMAZING. I didn't even want to like this product at first because I ordered it along with the Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation in NC30, and I was anticipating that I would like the powder foundation much better. When I first got the foundation, it looked wayyyyy too dark in the bottle and I was frightened. After applying it though, it started to look more like my shade. I did find that it's very easy to make your face look too dark if you don't blend it out really well. As a result, it takes me a while to put this foundation on if I want a really flawless look. If you take the time to blend it out though (especially along the jawline/neck area), it looks AMAZING, flawless, and airbrushed. I think most of the negative reviews for this foundation are most likely due to its difficult application than its quality and results. I think using a brush for this foundation is a must if you want it to look perfect. Overall, I was elated by the results and would definitely re-purchase. Also, the smell is wonderful! You can only smell it when you first put it on, but it makes me WANT to put it on. Love it!
I was so afraid of using this foundation because of all the horror stories that I read about it breaking people out. I am still in the review process, haven't decided yet how my skin has reacted to it. But the foundation itself I love. I have redness in my cheeks and this smoothes and cover that beautifully. The coverage is great.
NC15 is the shade that works best for me. I originally got samples of nw15 from the ma at mac, but found it oxidized orange on my skin. I was skeptical that I was an NC, but it does look much better, so unless someone tells me otherwise, I am sticking to this.
I have altered my skincare regime recently as well, I am not using clinique's 3 step program, so I can't tell if my skin is reacting to that or the sff, or something else. But I have been getting more breakouts than normally along my chin/lower lip area, but nothing that will stop me from wearing this foundation... for now, I will update if it gets worse.
I added a foundation pump to this so that it is easier to apply, I can't imagine applying it without it now. They are $5 and available at mac or mac online. They make a huge difference, no wastage.
At one time MAC was my HG for everything. But I stopped wearing their Studio Fix powder years ago because it made me look orange, greasy, rubbed off on everything and ruined my skin. I returned to it in the Liquid form about a month or two ago. NC 44. HORRIBLE.
Tiny red bumps (pimples??) everywhere and in the oddest places.
Breakouts, some painful, all along my jawline.
Whiteheads on my chin.
Even while using the STRONGEST acne skincare products, I would wake up in the morning and find a RASH of new pimples across the lower portion of my face. Even after thoroughly cleansing and using my clarisonic.
MAC MUAs love insinuating that if their product breaks you out it's because you're not washing you're makeup off properly and cleansing properly. NOT TRUE.
The coverage is not what it's claimed to be. No matter if you use a 109, 187, 190, or a sponge you STILL need concealer.
The MAUs also say things like It will help with dry skin because it's a liquid foundation. This ACCENTUATED my flakiness and dry patches to the tenth power.
I could go on and on. The most amazing thing this product does: Creates a fresh batch of zits after just hours wear. I'd wash my face as soon as I got home from work and I'd have new blemishes.
I have been using this product since January of 2007. I love this foundation. It covers all of my blemishes, acne scars, and imperfections. It truly makes you look flawless. I used it at Hurricane Harbor one day and it lasted all day. While my body turned a yummy caramel color my face stayed white as a marshmallow! Although, I only use it for special occasions because the foundation does break me out if used on a daily basis.
I bought this product last week..So far it did great even though I had a little breakout that's tolerable for now.The coverage is superb..Though I had to blot after abt 4 hrs of applying it..I used foundation brush and I add a tiny bit of moisturizer and the result was perfect. Not too cakey..But the price is very steep here in Singapore.$47 for just a bottle and I bought the select sheer pressed powder to go along with SFF.That cost $39..Had to spent so much just for my face..And I washed my face twice every time I used SFF.Just to make sure it's thoroughly cleaned..So I'm not sure whether I'll repurchase if I'm done with this bottle.Maybe I'll just stick to my old HG Revlon Colorstay though the selection of shades are very limited here..Sigh...
This is the best match ever for my skin tone. NC35. No other foundation has ever matched as well. It evens out my skin tone the best, has good coverage, and i really like it best out of all my foundations. It doesnt last through out the day but oh well still one of my favs. Currently in circulation i have clinique real? foundation, estee lauder double wear, an hsn mineral foundation i forget its name and one of the true match loreal foundations...The others are all GOOD, but.this is my fav :)
Excellent coverage, matches my skin perfectly in the summertime (but not too much of a difference that'd make me buy a lighter shade for winter), and for all who complain about getting one or two pimples on your face from this, remember you ARE applying a mix of unknown ingrediented product on your face...anyway I love this foundation, nice smell, lasts long, but makes my face look a bit oily if I don't pair it with blot powder.....
