My skin broke out after using clinique suberbalanced foundation occasionally and benefit playstick everyday for a year. My skin is generally acne prone/combination.
I have used MAC studio fix fluid almost everyday for the past year, at first I was given NC44 which was too orange, now I use NC42 which is perfect. The coverage is amazing, it lasts throughout the day without feeling too heavy on the skin, covers everything, I love it!!
Was a bit unsure of using it after reading the reviews where people said their skin got worse or they got breakouts, touch wood it has suited my skin no break outs, and a lot of things break my skin out even tea tree oil..The important thing is to wash it off, have had a breakout when I have not washed my face after a night out, gross I know but other than that this has to be the best foundation I have used.
Oh how I wanted to love this product. No matter what shade I tried, I could not get a match. NW's were too pink, NC's were too orange. I am a NC 25 in the Studio Fix Powder. NC 15 in this was too dark and oxidized to a muddy orange color on me. The coverage was good, but like I stated, I could not find a good match. I did not have adverse skin reactions to this foundation like many people did, maybe because I didn't use it for long periods of time. My oily skin did shine through the few times I wore it, but that's not a surprise. It would be a miracle if I could find a foundation that matched my skin perfectly and controls oil. But for now, I'll settle on a different foundation that would match my skin better. This, unfortunately, is not it.
I have only gotten some samples so far, but I will buy it when I run out of foundation. I tried the NW20 and thought it was too light, its summer right not and I want some color, so I tried NW25 and it gives me a more golden look and I love it. It's a really good foundation. It helps with oily skin which I have a bit and need a foundation what helps with that. It goes on with a little bit of a healthy shine or gloss to my skin, but in a good way. It has pretty good coverage. I would definately recommend it.
I've been using MAC Studio Fix Foundation in NC35 for a couple of years now and I LOVE it! I get endless compliments on my skin even though underneath I still have acne scars, but you absolutely cannot tell when I wear this foundation. I use a MAC foundation brush to apply it and It gives me a flawless finish each and every time. The only downside is that it takes some time to put on and blend well to get the flawless finish, but it's well worth the time for a flawless face!
LOVE THE WAY THE FOUNDATION WORKS... however, the glass bottle is bad... one wrong move and I broke the brand new makeup by dropping it. Also, I didn't like how I had to purchase a pump... it should just come with it. PRODUCTS ITSELF IS A 5 - everything else kinda sucks.
I love the colour match I get from this product (NC15) but that's where the positives end for me! I hate the paint-like smell of this foundation, find it very thick and obvious looking (despite the fact that I usually like a full coverage foundation!) and find that it doesn't last well on my skin - it transfers off very easily! So I won't be purchasing again.
This is my HG foundation. I love the coverage this foundation gives me. It's also buildable, which I really like. I saw one girl said it was very watery. Thats crazy! MAC foundation is pretty thick, so I find that very odd. I also use MAC Studio Fix Powder with this and I get the best coverage I've ever had. An airbrushed look for sure. <3
i LOOOOOVVVVEEE this foundation. Its deffinately my HG. It provides the perfect matte full coverage i've been looking for forever.
I have been wondering for a while what was making my skin oily and break out on my cheeks occasionally then i stopped using this MAC foundation and both of those symptoms went away. I've actually been using it for around 8 months now, but i use it sparingly. (If you're interested in a product that lasts well, it does last forever!) I would not apply a lot to my face because it isn't a matte finish but infact a shiny and greasy feeling one. If i wear it to work i'll find by lunchtime most of it has slid down my face and made my face feel like it can't breathe and is sweating underneath the foundation. I would not buy this again, the colour match is perfect for my skin however it just does not blend to enhance my skin..i found if i applied it fully i looked like a shiny plastic barbie - no contours or natural features to my skin at all. It does nothing to enhance what beautiful qualities your skin already has instead it simply washes it out and leaves you feeling a bit greasy. In the winter it is better but now it is moving to summer (it's mostly cold in London until about June!) and i daren't use it at all, i can just see my face melting away into a shiny greasy mess. What it does do is holds the colour of my top powder well (which is not MAC and is much better for my skin) but from now on i will definately be staying well away from MAC foundations & concealers! They are not right at all if you have any sort of dry, oily, combination skin and if you want to keep your face looking natural i'd head for a better counter! Shame because i love MAC shadows and pigments but i think from now on that is all i will personally stick to.
I personally wouldn't use this foundation on it's own, it doesn't have the best coverage, very watery. I do like that it has light colours that don't have a red undertone, i'm very pale and usually most make up is too orange/pink for me but this one was actually too white in NC15.
I like to mix it in with other foundations that are too dark for my skin and also to try and remove the undertones in other foundations. I would buy this product again, but the next shade up.
If you have flawless skin then this would be perfect for a light natural coverage, unfortunately i have bad skin and horrible freckles. But add some concealer or mix with a thicker foundation and it is wonderful, so either way i recommend this foundation.
