This foundation is great. Coverage buildable and stays all day w primer. I am still oily and will not look good and last long without some type of oil control. The color match perfect and is a little darker than the foundation I purchased before this MAC Select SPF 15. That is great because I am a tad bit darker. I wish this would come with a pump instead of having to purchase it seperate. Very blendable and looks great.
This was actually my first foundation, and since I had no experience w/ makeup, though that it was OK.
Now, after several years of messing around w/ makeup, I had to admit that this is one of the worst liquid foundation that i had purchased and the reasons are:
1. wrong color, i had it in NC30, and it is way to yellow and dark for my skintone (I was color matched in mac counter);
2. it feels very heavy on my face;
3. and i hated the smell.
I have used this foundation for 5 years and love it. It provides excellent coverage in the areas that I need it and sheer coverage in the areas where I don't. I am surprised to read it has caused break outs for some, I have extremely sensitive skin and have never had an issue.
I really thought I would love this foundation because I love all mac products. The first week was awesome, my skin looked great but shortly after that I started to breakout alot around my cheeks nose and forhead. I continued to use studio fix fluid thinking the break out would go away but it got worse.. I stop using it and the breakouts went right away!
This has looked the worst on me, as far as foundations are concerned. It's so heavy, cakey, not matte and bubbles up giving illusions of bumps when clearly there are none on my forehead. I mean, seriously? Not to mention the color didn't perfectly match me. And how do you get it out, pour it onto a sponge? No thanks. I felt like it would eventually make me break out being as thick as it was. I have friends who love it though, I assume skin types have A LOT to do with the line, and whether or not you want to look made up or more natural.
I don't hate this foundation but I don't love it either, however the cons outweigh the pros.
-Buildable coverage, medium to very heavy
-Good value for money as a lot in the bottle
- It has never broken me out and I have quite sensitive skin
-Looks extremely cakey on me no matter how little and what application technique i use
-Range of shades available is rubbish, whats with the weird nc and nw? how about just colours for a change mac
- After about an hour it goes a ridiculous shade of orange/brown and continues to get more orange as the day goes on
- Even with a primer and setting powder, it has melted off after 5-6 hours
I wanted to love this for the coverage and the mass of rave reviews, but it isn't for me at all. I'm currently nc10 but i might retry this when i am more tanned, maybe around nc30, as the colour change is the main problem.
My skin broke out after using clinique suberbalanced foundation occasionally and benefit playstick everyday for a year. My skin is generally acne prone/combination.
I have used MAC studio fix fluid almost everyday for the past year, at first I was given NC44 which was too orange, now I use NC42 which is perfect. The coverage is amazing, it lasts throughout the day without feeling too heavy on the skin,covers everything, I love it!!
Was a bit unsure of using it after reading the reviews where people said their skin got worse or they got breakouts, touch wood it has suited my skin no break outs, and a lot of things break my skin out even tea tree oil..The important thing is to wash it off, have had a breakout when I have not washed my face after a night out, gross I know but other than that this has to be the best foundation I have used.
Oh how I wanted to love this product. No matter what shade I tried, I could not get a match. NW's were too pink, NC's were too orange. I am a NC 25 in the Studio Fix Powder. NC 15 in this was too dark and oxidized to a muddy orange color on me. The coverage was good, but like I stated, I could not find a good match. I did not have adverse skin reactions to this foundation like many people did, maybe because I didn't use it for long periods of time. My oily skin did shine through the few times I wore it, but that's not a surprise. It would be a miracle if I could find a foundation that matched my skin perfectly and controls oil. But for now, I'll settle on a different foundation that would match my skin better. This, unfortunately, is not it.
I have only gotten some samples so far, but I will buy it when I run out of foundation. I tried the NW20 and thought it was too light, its summer right not and I want some color, so I tried NW25 and it gives me a more golden look and I love it. It's a really good foundation. It helps with oily skin which I have a bit and need a foundation what helps with that. It goes on with a little bit of a healthy shine or gloss to my skin, but in a good way. It has pretty good coverage. I would definately recommend it.
I've been using MAC Studio Fix Foundation in NC35 for a couple of years now and I LOVE it! I get endless compliments on my skin even though underneath I still have acne scars, but you absolutely cannot tell when I wear this foundation. I use a MAC foundation brush to apply it and It gives me a flawless finish each and every time. The only downside is that it takes some time to put on and blend well to get the flawless finish, but it's well worth the time for a flawless face!
