I love this foundation, it is my first MAC foundation. It has great coverage, I just took me a while to learn how to apply this without it looking cakey. The reason I gave it a 4 is because the shade I got is a little dark. Which normally wouldn't be that bad, but it's a little darker than my summer tan. Meaning it'll be way too dark when it's winter. But it makes my skin look great, and gives it a beautiful glow. I bought it at a MAC store in Greece. Also I love the packaging, it's so simple and pretty, I almost didn't want to take it out of the box. I would definatly buy this again.
I love the coverage of this foundation, but...I got the wrong foundation shade, it's an NC when I'm an NW, it's too dark and looks unatural. Also, I love when I put it on, but after a couple hours, my face is a greaseball. I really wanted to like this. Plus it's just so obvious and cakey, not the best look. I wouldn't buy this again.
So my friend has been recommonding this for me for a while so I got it a week ago. THe MAC counter in my city lack customer service because everytime I go there no one wants to help me...I wanted to try it out so I sucked it up and wait at least 5 mins for one of the girls to help me out. She matched me with NC 42. I bought it and tried it out. At first I thought I looked orange! I was like "I look like a carrot head!" but after a few mins. It look fine. It does get me a flawless coverage. I was afraid it would break me out, but I think it just made my recent break out stay the same. I don't know if its a good thing or not, but at least it didn't worsen my breakout in the forehead. I've been using this with the blot powder press...these two are awsome together because I have oily skin. oh, its also SPF 15! Its always a plus! I hate how I had to buy the pump seperately.
Update 6/18/12: I try buying this for my vegas trip, it was a totol regret and mess! I broke out and it turns me into over bronzed Snooki. Yuck! This has become the worse foundation I've ever purchased, not to mention its expensive! I suggest you ask for a sample for a couple days before actually buying the bottle and that pump.
When I first used this product, I was amazed. It gave me great coverage and made my skin look flawless. I had that glow that people with perfect skin always seem to have. But as the weeks went by, my usually spotless skin began to break out more and more. My jawline was full of blackheads and acne and my cheeks and nose were beginning to break out in blackheads. I kept using this product though, because it was the only thing that would cover the acne. I was also still infatuated with the product, because of the way it had made me look at first. I liked the coverage so much that I would make excuses to myself just to keep using it. However after about 2 months of usage, I began getting huge, cystic-like pimples that would not come to a head. I got a huge pimple on my upper cheek that was literally the diameter of a large pea. That was the final straw. The foundation wouldn't even cover it up. This stuff is horrible, because it makes you break out like crazy. Not worth the coverage or anything else this product offers. I would NEVER recommend this product to anybody.
I am glad I tried this- so I know never to buy it again! It made me break out quite badly :( coverage was good, but kind of over the top. Luckily I could return it. Yuck. Dont waste your money- satin finish looks so much better in my opinion. AND has never made me break out. l
+If you want COVERAGE , this one is for you.
+Gives a matte finish , I don't even need a bloting powder.
+Lasts all day.
-Broke me out badly :(
-The smell of it is absolutely awful eeeerrkkk ( smells like petrol or something like that)
-The colors are extremly orangey/yellow , even NW15 which is supposed to be light and cool is actually too dark and very yellow for me.
-Doesn't come with a pomp , you have to pay for it... Even drustore brands are not that stingy lol !
-Dries out my skin , leave a cakey finish.
-The texture is soooooo thick , it's really obvious because it just sets in your skin , it doesn't blend well.
-It contains an SPF so it tends to make you look gosthy in pictures....
Overall: I hate this stuff , I don't trust Mac anymore in term of face produtcs.
I must say that i love the coverage this product gives for a reasonable price. I would definitely buy it again only if i did not break out. I have combination to oily skin, sometimes have ocassional breakouts but with this foundation i had pimples on my cheeks (which i never have)and had to throw the bottle away. What a waste of money. If you have normal to dry skin then it works well. It is thicker than the select spf15 foundation but stays on all day, till you take it off with a makeup remover.
One of my first MAC foundations. I'm an NC37.
The MA at the MAC counter tried it on me and I was hooked.
I love the full coverage that can be achieved with this foundation. I do have a few cons on SFF. Since it's a very thick texture you do have to have a light hand when applying. Still even with a light hand I saw that it made the "smile lines" around my mouth and eyes stand waaaay out. I don't need to look like I'm in my 60's here lol. I felt that this created wrinkles that I didn't have lol, but that's when fix + comes in handy. Also Since I'm oily and acne prone this DID break me out. Doesn't matter if the MA over at MAC says it's great for oily skin......if you know your skin...you know your skin.
I stopped using SFF for a few days and my skin started to clear out. After using it again the bumps were starting to come up again.
Over all.....I would re-purchase again because I love the full coverage but would only use for a once in a blue occasion. UPDATE : I have swapped my MAC SFF a while ago. Now I use Revlon's Colorstay. It gives me the same coverage. Minimizes my oils on my T-Zone. And doesn't break me out at all !
Ugh, this is the culprit for the worst Makeover I ever had at MAC. I'm NC20 or NW 20 (combined is my perfect tone, MAC needs to make N20). The MUA used NW20 and it was waaaayyyy to yellow. Even though I asked for medium coverage, it turned out thick and heavy and accentuated every pore and wrinkle on my face. I couldn't get to my car fast enough to wipe it off. It took 3 fully saturated napkins to get about 75% of the product off and then immediately drove home and washed off the rest.
I've had bad luck with MAC foundations. I'd rate this one a zero if I could.
I have a love/hate relationship with this foundation... I love the coverage it gives me (medium-full), but I HATE the way it photographs. It makes me look paler than I really am in pics! Other than that complaint, I love this foundation. I apply this with the MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush and it looks amazing! I wear NC42 and have combination skin. It wears great during the day and lasts all night when I'm going out dancing with friends. I will definitely repurchase again!
Yes! Finally a foundation that does everything I'm looking for in base makeup.
I first picked this one up when I was in Japan and the foundation that I brought with me just melted away in the humid september heat. I went to a department store and a super cute girl at the mac counter helped me pick this one out. I've always had a bottle at home since then.
The first thing I fell in love with was the color, I've never had such a perfect match before (NC15, how I adore you). Then it was the coverage. Just a nice matte surface that hides what you want to make less obvious but never cakey or smudgey. And it stays put all day, hot, cold, humid, dry, doesn't matter. It never fails me!
I've used it for a long time now and never has it broken me out or made my skin dry. It fits me like a glove.
Sometimes I like to mix it with a small amount of Mac's strobe cream for a dewy complexion. Makes you look good for a night on the town :)
