This cleanser and I have had a love/hate relationship for the past 6 years. I believed I instantly fell in love after trying it the first time. The cleanser had a light citrus scent and felt so wonderfully smooth and creamy, not to mention it completely removed all makeup, even extremely stubborn waterproof eye makeup. The bottle is sleek and easy to use. However, with extended use, my skin started to break out for the first time in my teenage years thanks to how drying the cleanser was - I was no longer blessed with perfect skin and this product was the only change I had made. I shoved it into my medicine cabinet and forgot about it for a long time.
Over the past 6 years I have gone back to this product, and will likely continue to do so, because it is so easy to use and ensure that you have no makeup left on your face. However, the light citrus scent has since been replaced with a more chemical smell. The cleanser is still extremely drying on my normal skin. Unfortunately I am one of the people that this cleanser is not completely right for, but I continue to use it.

I got the sample size of this face wash for my birth day and absolutely loved it. so I got the bigger size and than after a while I don't know what happened, but my face started breaking out and getting VERY oily. I might try using it after I try clearing up my face but for right now Im not a huge fan

A great face cleaner! It is gentle yet removes every trace of makeup. I wear foundation daily and this cleanser is a miracle worked, leaving my skin very soft. I have sensitive skin and I have never had a problem with this irritating my skin or eyes. A little goes a long way so despite its hefty price tag, it lasts a very long time.

About the third day after using this I ended up with cystic acne. I haven't had a spot as big as this one in many years. Also, I did not feel like it cleansed my skin thoroughly. Throwing it out!

Edited: Ok, Well, unfortunately I'm going to have to edit all of my squawking below. After using this product twice a day, every day, for nearly three months, I've had to stop and take it back because I've had an allergic reaction to it.

I have sensitive, fair skin and for a while I was doing really well with this - skin was clean, clear, and soft. I was using it with Philosophy's Hope in a Jar Moisturizer (which I still love to pieces) but I was ending up with these odd dry patches across my cheeks and one side of my nose and across the bridge of my nose where my glasses sit. The spots would never spread or move, but when I exfoliated to remove the rough-stuff, it would be back again at the end of the day.

I found out that one of the ingredients used in Purity Made Simple is Piper Nigrum Seed Extract, also known as Black Pepper Oil, and I have an allergy to black pepper that is generally pretty mild, but after using it consistently for so long, my skin had finally had enough and freaked out. To test this, I stopped using it for a week and a half and the weird spots went away. I went back to Purity, and the same day the exact same spots came back.

It's my own fault I suppose for not reading the ingredients but 1. It was recommended to me by a pro working at Sephora that it is the ultimate in hypo-allergenic products and that there was nothing in it that would give me any problems and 2. It never occurred to me until now that black pepper would be something anyone would put in something that would be on your face... ever.

I'm taking this from a rating of five to a two. I still think for most people who aren't weirdos like me it should work out just fine. I can't use it anymore and have thus begun my quest for a better wash for my finicky skin. I've learned my lesson and will be religiously reading any and all ingredient labels on anything I put near my skin.

It seems to me, going by reviews here and on other sites, that you either love this stuff, or you hate it. I firmly fall into the first category.

This was recommended to me by a pro at Sephora, and then a friend who uses it who refers to it as "soapy Jesus in a bottle". I admittedly didn't have a very consistent facial routine, as I have never had acne prone skin but I will break out into an odd rash on my cheek areas if I use something my sensitive skin doesn't like... so I just never really washed my face with anything but hot water to keep those odd breakouts from happening. I ended up being given a sample bottle of this, tried it for a week, and ran out to buy a bigger bottle as soon as my sample size ran out.

I'm not a huge fan of the smell, though it has grown on me and I can live with it. That said, Purity has done amazing things for my skin. I never thought of my skin as particularly bad, but after using this for two months my skin looks more even, often has a glowey, dewy finish that I didn't think I could get without makeup, it's SO soft, pores are smaller, and best of all - my sensitive, uncooperative skin hasn't broken out once since I started using it. Now I wash my face with it twice a day without fail.

This would be a fantasic product for other people. For myself this completly stripped my senstive skin and left it very tight and hard to deal with even after I put on my moisterizer. I used it a total of twice before my skin became unbareable. I only had the travel size (8 fld oz.) so when I tossed it I didnt feel so bad. I use the container for my other clenser so i guess thats a bonus?

I have been using Purity for the last 5 or so years, I have pretty normal skin. Most every cleanser I have ever used, and I have used plenty being an Esthetician, this has been been the most consistently perfect for my skin. It doesn't dry me out or make me oily. It removes ALL make-up, even waterproof mascara. I have tried the Purity Foaming cleanser and that dried me out. After washing my skin always feels fresh, clean, and not stripped. I even recommend this cleanser to my clients!

I got this in a set from Sephora that came with this face wash, Hope in a Jar moisturizer, Eye Hope, and the Microdelivery Peel for $69, which isn't bad considering how expensive the face wash and moisturizer are on their own. I've been using the two together every day (2x a day) to replace my Neutrogena Grapefruit Scrub which I hated. When I first started using it, I broke out on my forehead. I was really bummed because it was so expensive and I wanted to love it. My mum told me to just keep using it, that my skin was purging, so I did. And can i just say- WOW. My skin has never been so clear and smooth! I'm really glad I stuck with this and it's now my HG face wash. For the first week or so, you'll have break outs, but they go away, no problem. I love that this isn't too drying, and really cleans. I do use makeup remover before and toner after this, but only because I tend to wear a lot of makeup and the extra steps just make me feel like I'm not hurting my skin :P This stuff is really amazing, and paired with my prescription acne medication, my skin has never been better<3 Will definitely buy this for the rest of my life ! continued >>

I used this product for a few months. I was using Cetaphil but wanted to try something better. I found that it smelled great and did a good job at cleaning off make-up, but didn't really help with my acne prone skin. Even though it's "one-step" I did still use a toner afterward.

I really did not like this cleanser. I have combo skin, and in my 40's. I thought it smelled terrible, and did not clean my face very well. There seemed to be a film left on my face. I got one pimple the very next day, and have not had any in years. I went to read the reviews today and see I am not the only one that has happened to. It appears to have a polarizing effect you either love it or hate it. I RIS a small bottle, and back I am going to Paulas Choice, which is priced right and works fabulously. I will not stray again.
