I bought this cleanser a few days ago because I've heard many positive reviews on Cetaphil's cleansers. So the first time I used this my skin felt very fresh and glowy. The second time I used it..My skin was from fresh and glowy- to red, itchy and irritated. I have Oily skin, so this was a shock to me. It was almost like I had a sunburn! My friends thought I did too.

PROS:
Smells nice.
Isn't too expensive.
Come's in a nice pump package.

CONS:
Doesn't foam up.
Irritating.
Burns/Feels like a sunburn.
Harsh- not gentle at all!
Doesn't clean as well as my other cleansers.

I think I'm going back to my Neutrogena Cleansing Facial Bar. Maybe I'll give this away to my brother or a friend, because I don't want it.

Asian, sensitive, ruddy skin, prone to blackheads and acne when stressed or in new/dry climates. I actually really like this cleanser as a basic cleanser and always revert to it when something new disappoints me. It's cheap, readily available (in the States) and takes my makeup off well. It doesn't irritate my skin, doesn't strip it and seems to make my pores clearer. I try to just massage it in for at least 15 seconds so that dirt and makeup can break up and work its way out of the pores a bit (I have sooo many blackheads!). I still go over any face wash with a gentle toner (currently SKII) but this stuff doesn't make me feel tight or dry and removes my makeup well enough at the same time.

Decent price, easy to use packaging, but really that's were the pros stop. It didn't get my makeup off well, and yet somehow managed to make my oily/combination skin feel sahara desert esque. It didn't foam well, and the consistency seemed to slip out of my hands, making me feel like I was wasting product. Basically, it made my skin feel dry, dirty, and dull. Will not buy again.

Meh. I didn't find it did much for me. My skin is acne prone and tends to get a bit oily throughout the day, so this was okay but it didn't do anything special. Wouldn't bother buying it again.

The only cleanser that doesn't make my skin flaky!! So thrilled about that! It does an OK job at removing my makeup (bare minerals) as my toner cotton ball still tends to pick up some residue. I have extremely oily acne prone skin and this wash has become my HG; doesn't over-dry, gentle, just nothing harsh to irritate my skin.

I am on a mission to get rid of all supposed gentle, natural cleansers and lotions that seriously just clog my pores and ruin the state of my skin. Yes, this is a gentlish (if that is a word) cleanser. It does what it is supposed to do in that it does in fact clean your face. BUT, there is so much junk in it that i find it hard to believe that it can truly be gentle to your skin. There is sls and a number of other preservatives. I just dont feel like it does anything for the health of my skin and i am always trying to clean up the mess on my face that this cleanser causes. It does clog my pores and dries out my skin - I guess I am just sensitive to the sulfates in the product. I wouldnt have as much of a problem with it if it did not try to appear to be such a gentle, natural product. I just feel like it is false advertising. Gosh..I have turned into such a tree hugger!!

This cleanser is very well clean up the oil on your face and reasonable price but it leaves a strong Fragrance i think it has perfume in it. Also it has SLS which is very bad for sensitive skin. I feel like it leaves a coating on your face after washing it. I develop redness and activate my acne scar after few days after this.

EDIT 19/07/12 - For some strange reason, I much prefer the gentle version over this one.

I just bought this cleanser about a week ago and so far I am really liking it! I purchased the cleanser for oily and acne-prone skin and so far it has not broken me out. It does have a mild fragrance, but I don't really mind it. It is also an excellent make-up remover and apparently reduces oil production with continual use (which I find it really does!).

Pros:
- Has a pump, with on/off function
- Controls oilies
- Value for money

Cons
- Can strip skin
- After a while, the pump becomes really messy.

I usually am a Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel user, but I finally decided to try a cheaper cleanser. So far I've been using it for 2 weeks and it's working fine for me. I like the smell and the fact that it doesn't foam. My favorite things about this cleanser is the pump; very hygienic and convenient. In fact, I wish my MB cleanser had a pump! I also love that after the cleanser is rinsed off, it doesn't leave a residue and also does not strip my skin dry enough to make me run for moisturizer. The only 4 downsides is that the packaging is extra ugly, it doesn't remove waterproof mascara, it has more ingredients than my MB, and it has sodium lauryl sulfate (this ingredient is known to strip skin's natural oils). Dry skin people might have to try the gentle skin version.

I really, REALLY wanted to like this and I tried so hard to make it work. I didn't really think a cleanser could actually have a negative effect on my skin. I used this for about 1 1/2- 2 weeks and have finally given up on it. I usually get small breakouts (no more than 10 small to medium bumps at one time) and the occasional large pimple but with this, I started to notice weird things. I would get clusters of tiny bumps near my temples, on my cheeks, and on my chin. I woke up 1 day with the worst pimple I have ever had in my life on my chin and it took several days to finally disappear and left a scar, which hasn't happened in about 3 years. On the day I finally quit using it, I noticed 2 cystic pimples (1 on my chin and 1 on my cheek) which I have never, ever had. I also noticed a small pimple on the bridge of my nose- which was actually the straw that broke the camel's back- I have never had acne on the bridge of my nose. It's been about 3 days since I stopped using it and the difference is amazing. My acne has cleared considerably and I have gone back to my previous washing/ cleansing method using the generic Wal-Mart version of the Olay cleansing wipes to wash off my makeup and cleanse my face. They are tried and true and I am never using Cetaphil products again. 10 dollars is about what I paid for this and I believe that is way too much money for this terrible product. Unfortunately I lost my receipt and cannot return it. I would NEVER recommend this.
