I normally use the Cetaphil Gentle cleanser and the moisturizer, and i really like them. Lately though, my skin (mostly my cheeks) had been breaking out a lot more. At the last minute i decided to try this because of its good reviews. Well, when i first opened it, i was pretty upset because i notices how strong the scent was - i was so surprised, since Cetaphil is not know for using fragrance, right? I was worried that it was a waste and that it would end up causing more irritation. But - it really hasn't. It has actually calmed down the skin on my cheeks. And it looks less red and irritated now after using it for a few days. Im afraid to say too much at this point - but i'm really hoping that this is something i can rely on for future pimples. I stil like using the cleanser, for the rest of my face - so, i actually use this mostly on my cheeks, and it works ok for me. I definately have to moisturize after using this, because it makes me feel a tiny bit more dry than usual. I would still prefer if they hadnt added any fragrance, but at the same time, i dont really notice it that much now. I hope this keeps working :)
Edit** - After using this for over a month, i am feeling good about this bar :) my skin has cleared up quite a bit, and it doesn't feel as irritated as before. (I have also stopped using the Cetaphil liquid cleanser). I'm comfortable with this bar now :)

If you have extremely dry or retinized facial skin like mine, avoid this-- i broke out in big flakes and experienced awful tightness immediately after rinsing. Had to slather with Cetaphil cream, which luckily is very good stuff. I guess the bottom line is soap is soap-- Cetaphil says the ingredients aren't soap, but I was surprised to see that they are. I can see this used as a good body soap, though. I have to return to the liquid cleanser...

This is one of my favourite cleansers. It leaves a really clean feeling and no residue or stripping of my skin. I will repurchase.

i like this cleanser. i use it on my combo/oily skin that tends to get flaky, dry and greasy all at the same time. i was using clinique mild liquid soap but it dried my skin out and made my face feel uncomfortably tight. i switched to this and i really like this because it washes off my makeup and leaves my face feeling soft and comfortable. it doesnt feel like my face is being stripped of its needed natural oils. i havent broke out from this and ive been using this for about a month and a half. i learned sometimes the harsher products marketed for acne/oily/combo skin isnt always the best. it strips my face of its natural oil and makes my face produce even more oil to try to compensate for the lost.

I swear by this product, I never use any other kind of soap on my face. I have normal to dry skin, which is also a bit sensitive. This soap works well to clean my face and I don't find it over-drying. Plus the price is great!

I started using this a few years ago when my dr suggested it. I have used it ever since.

For those with rosacea, this soap can be classified as a "YMMV". I had run out of my HG, Jan Marini BioClean, and purchased a bar after reading some reviews. My skin is sensitive and prone to flares but I really didn't think this would set my skin off. WRONG! Within seconds, my skin was red and slightly sore. Now, I'm not saying that noone should buy Cetaphil because I know that my skin, when I was in my 20's, would have been just fine. The bar didn't leave my skin dry or tight which is good in my book. I still use Dove Sensitive Skin bar occasionally and it has never caused a flare like the Cetaphil. For normal skin, this would be a good choice but those with sensitive skin might beware.

My skin is combo right now. This soap is to harsh for me. My skin felt irritated and tight after using it. This soap dries your face, burns your eyes, and is far from being gentle.

I had bleeding patches of eczema on my trunk and legs and arms before I finally gave up the ghost and switched to this about 3 weeks ago; long story short, I can now wear perfume (in moderation) and use scented deodorant again (YAY!). There's a reason I refer to this as my 'soap fiancee' - it's saved my skin's life so far this winter. Hasn't cured the terribly dry and sensitive skin on my body, but it's done better than any other soap ever has (even Dove, my standby) and made living in it much easier. I use it on my face, too, which, aside from the occasional post-adolescent hormonal flareup, looks great. I love what this soap's done for me so much that I now even love the scent of it, which initially repulsed me. I would give this 50 lippies if I could!
