I finally got my hands on Angel....i was a bit skeptical and wanted to get a dupe instead...BUT being a NC-42 i have to say that with a darker liner, and dabing it instead of smearing it, and adding a thin coat of a light pink or colorless gloss over makes Angel my favorite! and please take in account that i own TONS! of similar colors but i just love Angel....
I think that Angel is pretty when I apply a gloss over it but I am not a fan of it by itself. I find that most of MACs frost finish lipsticks can look really dull, and often times drying, if lipbalm is not applied first. I also have yellow toned tan skin, so I dont think Angel is very complimentary unless it is paired with something else. I also think it looks better in photographs than it does in person. Angel is pretty on some people, I think it just boils down to shade/finish preference and skin tone.
One of my go-to everyday lipsticks that I can just swipe on and go without too much fuss. Great pink that works well by itself or with a gloss on top. A must-have in my opinion.
My first MAC lipstick! Inspired by Kim K of course, so obviously I bought Stripdown liner. (used a drugstore dupe for the nars turkish delight by Revlon called Peach Petals)
LOVE this. People would comment on my lips, I do find though it is a look that requires you to be be reasonably made up (foundation, mascara, tiny smoke on the eye, bronzer/blusher) otherwise you can look washed out. I have olive skin (I think i'm about NW35, I use Chanel Vitalumiere in 40 for reference)
for those who want to achieve the Kim K lip, sticking to Angel won't suit most and there are plenty of other colours to suit different tones that will still give you a perfect nude lip. Angel is pink rather than nude, so if you solely want a nude lip, then this isn't it, unless paired with the complimenting liner/gloss.
I really like this color because it does give me the perfect pinky nude lip. Not too frosty either.
I honestly dont know what the hype was to make me want this lipstick so bad but when I FINALLY got my hands on it, I had mixed feelings about it. I'm not sure if it's the lipliner color I use with it or the fact that I prime my lips before applying it or if its the lipgloss that I put on over it, each day I apply this lipstick I feel differently about it.
Today I think I found the application that I liked the most since the day I bought this lipstick. I applied a cheap NYC Neutral lipliner to my lips, then applied the MAC Angel lipstick and over it I applied MAC Lusterglass in Baby Sparks (?). I really liked the neutral liner rather than the tan or hot pink liner. It really gave my lips a natural "just pink enough" look.
The price well, if any of you are familiar with MAC products you know lipsticks run about $14.95 (something like that) which is much more espensive than say a Revlon lipstick but is also much cheapter than any NARS lipstick or gloss. I'm not too fond of the price but the quality is good.
Packaging, I personally always liked the classic/classy look of the black MAC lipstick tubes, your opinion may differ.
Would I buy this again? I think I would, after I try out Snob though. That's next on my list. =)
So since beginning my makeup craze, this has been one of my go-to lipsticks. It just works with everything, the packaging is nice and sleek and for a higher end lipstick, the price is pretty reasonable compared to other higher end products. I love the colour and it's wearable on it's own or with a gloss. It doesn't make my lips chapped like Revlon Soft Nude. I notice that I tend to pick this lipstick up a lot whenever I have to rush out of the house or what not. Definitely becoming a HG lipstick. I would also definitely repurchase!
I really like this lipstick because it is so moisturizing. Also, the color is really pretty on, like a frosty pink. I layer this on top of my more matte lipsticks like snob to give it more dimension.
This actually hurts a little. I wanted to like you Angel, I really did! Kim K made it look so good, and talk about hype! Has there ever been a more famous shade of lipstick? When I swatch Angel on my skin it is gorgeous, a sheer, silvery neutral and light pink. But for some reason when I put this on my lips it looks like pale pink chalk. And that is being nice about it. I tried wearing it for a day, living in it, trying different levels of application and even sloshed on some clear gloss but alas....we just weren't meant to be! Probably won't try any more frosted shades from MAC although I am a big fan of their Lustre formula. My lips are naturally a light rosy pink color and not especially dry so I don't know why Angel works so well for some but not others.
My everyday lipstick! I love the colour of this, a nice understated pink.
I don't like bold colours, but this lipstick is one that isn't too bold but not so light you can't see it.
I wear this when I have more done up eyes and just want something simple on my lips, it looks good with a clear gloss.
