This mascara separates and lengthens lashes really well. I really like how black this is, and gives me the wide eyed look. The bad part is that I find it flakes after a few hours giving me panda eyes, which I hate.
I don't think I'll repurchase this, but it's not a bad mascara by any means. The brush is unique, and I'm not sure whether I'm into the spikes at the end or not. The formula is difficult to take off without baby wipes, just like a waterproof, and it tends to deposit little wet flakes underneath my eyes for a few minutes after application, so I have to go back and get them with a q-tip at the end of my routine, as well as bigger pieces sticking to the ends of my lashes -- and I'm a one-coat-only kind of person. That's definitely annoying. On the other hand, it's easy to keep clump-free, and after drying, it neither smudges nor budges.
I've almost used up my current tube of this, which has lasted me a long time. I'm glad I tried it, but I will not be repurchasing this mascara a second time.
Contrary to what some others have said, I actually like the spiky plastic wand - although it hurts like hell when you poke yourself with it, so be careful! One thing I LOVE about the wand is how the design of the end prevents a clump of mascara from collecting on the tip when you pull it out of the tube, like most mascaras do.
I think it separates the lashes really nicely and it really doesn't clump at all when I apply a couple coats. However, it you are looking for a super curling, volumizing, dramatic mascara, this is not it. It's great for daily wear, though.
Overall, I liked this mascara quite a bit, but it's nothing extremely amazing considering that it is pretty pricey.
I felt the need to review this because of the hype that brought me to buy it in the first place.
I loved the idea of the balled end of the wand and the spiky rubber bristles, and still do. However, this wand just doesn't get it right.
I wanted to love it, but this didn't live up to the name at all. I would say it defines the lashes, but there is nothing significant about the lengthening and practically no volume. When attempting to add layers, it gets spidery. I was expecting something that would look awesome for going out, but this only satisfies for daytime. I was especially surprised the color isn't very dark/deep, which other reviews hadn't seem to mention. Sure it's black, but not "blackest black" or "very black" like I would expect a supposedly impressive formula only available in one shade to be. The only reason I use it at all in the daytime is when I want something I know won't smudge because my lashes are long enough that happens easily with wetter formulas. This is because this They're Real is not easy to remove, so I've basically been trying to turn a con into a pro. It requires a makeup remover fit for a waterproof mascara.
Even Covergirl's LashBlast does a more impressive job than this. If LashBlast had bristles on the tip of the wand there would be no debate. For something that's touted as the best of the brand, it's quite basic. I've had it for a few months, and probably used it 10 times hoping it will impress me each time with no luck. So I'm finally throwing the towel in. As soon as I get a chance I'm returning it.
First thing- I am a drugstore makeup junkie. Never believed in spending over $10 for an expensive product that had a drugstore dupe that works just as well. But i had heard so many good things about this mascara from friends and their lashes looked AMAZING. So I went out and bought it about two months ago and am not disappointed at all! I am so in love. This mascara makes my lashes so long and full-looking. I cannot get this look from any drugstore mascara- even my former HG! Love, love, love. SO worth the money.
After hearing the majority of women rave about this mascara, I decided to give it a go.
I quite like dramatic lashes, with length and volume present. This provided that after several coats, it has a great brush that tackles most lashes.
The problem for me was removing this mascara! It was very difficult, and not ideal for my sensitive under eye area.
I found throughout the day that this mascara transferred to my under eye area, which I've not experienced with a mascara before! I would not buy this again.
I got this as a free bday gift from Sephora. When I hear "They're Real" I expect big things to happen to my lashes....not the case. I did help lengthen, but didn't do much for volume. I had to add 2-3 coats for it to be noticeable. The worst thing about this mascara is getting it off. I normally use Clinique take the day off or mary kay eye make up remover and neither work for getting this mascara off completely. I will not be buying this when its gone; not worth the money.
I am very disappointed in this mascara. Instead of "they're real", it should be called "they're real SPIDERY".
I bought this with a giftcard with high hopes that this could be a HG mascara. I already knew of the mixed reviews and was hoping that I would fall into the lucky end of the stick and love it.
Packaging is nothing to talk about so I'll skip that.
The wand is fairly thicker and has a bristly, prickly ball like tip. I've already poked my eye twice. The first coat did not do much besides make my lashes darker looking. The second coat made it clumpy and spidery. It did not volumize and it did not lengthen. My lashes felt crusty and by the end of the day it was flaked underneath my eyes. I know some reviewers have mentioned that it was hard to remove, but mine removed easily with baby oil. That is probably the only decent thing about this mascara.
I am not a fan. The tip of the brush is all spiky like some sort of medieval weaponry and the formula is gross. It's gummy and sort of pulls at the lashes...leaves those nasty little balls on the tips and tangles them together. I'm glad I didn't pay for this...I got it as my Sephora Beauty Insider birthday gift. I would not recommend it and would never purchase it for myself.
Eye lashes are longer. Best mascara I've used.
