I love having really long thick lashes and this mascara manages to help me achieve that. The packaging of the product is great and also came with a free mini mascara! I love the effect the mascara gives my eyelashes although I sometimes find actually applying the mascara a pain. I find the wand to be quite rough and hard which sometimes makes applying the mascara uncomfortable although that isn't a big deal and wouldn't put me off using it. The biggest downside for me is how easily the mascara smudges. When I apply this mascara and then leave the house I have mascara all under my eyes even though I applied it carefully and made sure it was dry and there were no smudges before I left. Overall it is a decent mascara with good results however I feel it is very expensive for what you get and I've found some high street brands such as maybelline to be much better quality.
I received this as a Sephora birthday gift along with the Porefessional. I had been wanting to try it, but was on the fence about the price. Mostly, I believed that spending a bunch of money on mascara would lead to a marginal difference over drugstore brands.
Benefit They're Real! is a pretty good mascara, much better than drugstore brands I have tried over the years! I have naturally long lashes, and it makes them look even longer. The black is dark enough for evening wear, wouldn't recommend it for daytime (at least for a fair complexion).
The only complaints I have about this mascara is it does clump easier than other mascaras I have tried, and it is a real pain to remove even with makeup remover. I also didn't purchase a full tube yet because there are other offerings that have twice the product for $9 more (Givenchy Noir Couture 4 in 1).
I'm not a false lash fan AT ALL, so I am all for anything that plumps, lengthens, darkens, and adds a bit of drama while keeping the look clean. If you're careful, you can achieve that look with this mascara. Once I run out of this, I might purchase a full tube as I like the overall look it achieves for night-time wear!
I do love this and was amazed by how much length it added to my lashes. However the tip of the brush is supposed to be used to get the corner of my lashes, but because the mascara is so thick an stringy, the end is clogged and can't be used for that. But I would use it for that anyway so I can't really complain. But that's the only real negative side I personally think
This mascara separates and lengthens lashes really well. I really like how black this is, and gives me the wide eyed look. The bad part is that I find it flakes after a few hours giving me panda eyes, which I hate.
I don't think I'll repurchase this, but it's not a bad mascara by any means. The brush is unique, and I'm not sure whether I'm into the spikes at the end or not. The formula is difficult to take off without baby wipes, just like a waterproof, and it tends to deposit little wet flakes underneath my eyes for a few minutes after application, so I have to go back and get them with a q-tip at the end of my routine, as well as bigger pieces sticking to the ends of my lashes -- and I'm a one-coat-only kind of person. That's definitely annoying. On the other hand, it's easy to keep clump-free, and after drying, it neither smudges nor budges.
I've almost used up my current tube of this, which has lasted me a long time. I'm glad I tried it, but I will not be repurchasing this mascara a second time.
Contrary to what some others have said, I actually like the spiky plastic wand - although it hurts like hell when you poke yourself with it, so be careful! One thing I LOVE about the wand is how the design of the end prevents a clump of mascara from collecting on the tip when you pull it out of the tube, like most mascaras do.
I think it separates the lashes really nicely and it really doesn't clump at all when I apply a couple coats. However, it you are looking for a super curling, volumizing, dramatic mascara, this is not it. It's great for daily wear, though.
Overall, I liked this mascara quite a bit, but it's nothing extremely amazing considering that it is pretty pricey.
I felt the need to review this because of the hype that brought me to buy it in the first place.
I loved the idea of the balled end of the wand and the spiky rubber bristles, and still do. However, this wand just doesn't get it right.
I wanted to love it, but this didn't live up to the name at all. I would say it defines the lashes, but there is nothing significant about the lengthening and practically no volume. When attempting to add layers, it gets spidery. I was expecting something that would look awesome for going out, but this only satisfies for daytime. I was especially surprised the color isn't very dark/deep, which other reviews hadn't seem to mention. Sure it's black, but not "blackest black" or "very black" like I would expect a supposedly impressive formula only available in one shade to be. The only reason I use it at all in the daytime is when I want something I know won't smudge because my lashes are long enough that happens easily with wetter formulas. This is because this They're Real is not easy to remove, so I've basically been trying to turn a con into a pro. It requires a makeup remover fit for a waterproof mascara.
Even Covergirl's LashBlast does a more impressive job than this. If LashBlast had bristles on the tip of the wand there would be no debate. For something that's touted as the best of the brand, it's quite basic. I've had it for a few months, and probably used it 10 times hoping it will impress me each time with no luck. So I'm finally throwing the towel in. As soon as I get a chance I'm returning it.
First thing- I am a drugstore makeup junkie. Never believed in spending over $10 for an expensive product that had a drugstore dupe that works just as well. But i had heard so many good things about this mascara from friends and their lashes looked AMAZING. So I went out and bought it about two months ago and am not disappointed at all! I am so in love. This mascara makes my lashes so long and full-looking. I cannot get this look from any drugstore mascara- even my former HG! Love, love, love. SO worth the money.
After hearing the majority of women rave about this mascara, I decided to give it a go.
I quite like dramatic lashes, with length and volume present. This provided that after several coats, it has a great brush that tackles most lashes.
The problem for me was removing this mascara! It was very difficult, and not ideal for my sensitive under eye area.
I found throughout the day that this mascara transferred to my under eye area, which I've not experienced with a mascara before! I would not buy this again.
I got this as a free bday gift from Sephora. When I hear "They're Real" I expect big things to happen to my lashes....not the case. I did help lengthen, but didn't do much for volume. I had to add 2-3 coats for it to be noticeable. The worst thing about this mascara is getting it off. I normally use Clinique take the day off or mary kay eye make up remover and neither work for getting this mascara off completely. I will not be buying this when its gone; not worth the money.
