the w4 looked darker in compact than applied. i have light-med nc 35 skintone and this was too light for me. this is creamy, kinda dewy, emphasized flaws and looked fake on.
Meh....I didn't love this. Its a totally unremarkable foundation. The color match was okay for me. But it didn't make my skin look great, just kinda blah. I thought a creme would be so easy but it really didn't seem to make a difference. I felt like the foundation would be slippery and greasy and honestly it wasn't as bad as I predicted, it was average in texture and feeling. Overall this was a disappointment but not a huge one. Still, I think this compact is wayyyyyy to expensive. Won't repurchase. I'm not saying there is no good foundations from the drugstore...there are. But this one is not one of them. I loved The Maybelline Dream Matte Liquid though...
Well after reading many of the reviews here on makeupalley I didn't think my opinion would be of much relevance towards this product; however, i cannot keep my opinion about this product to myself. I have actually never been a fan of powder foundations since my skin tends to look overdone. With the L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Compact I honestly can touch my face and not feel anything. To make my skin super soft and hydrated I use Nivia's moisturizer which comes in a white container. It contains jojoba oil and vitamin E, which both help keep your skin healthy. I then use a stippling brush to apply the L'Oreal foundation to my skin. It creates an airbrushed look. I would definetly buy this product again.
I had high hopes for this, but it was a disappointment. I like the True Match range of color choices, and I've had decent luck with the liquid foundation, but this compact foundation gets a big thumbs down. I'm guessing that its formula is heavy on silicones, because it has so much "slip" that it never really "sets." It slides around on my face and feels greasy to the touch. I tried it with primer, and without, and either way I get the same result. Even after setting it with powder, it felt slippery and would rub off easily on my phone, and even if I blot lightly with a blotting paper. Yuck. The color is nice, but that's about all it has going for it.
I was really hoping this product would work. I *need* a compact form of makeup and really dislike powders in compacts so I thought this would be perfect. Since it's supposed to be a 'true match' and they had a color card to hold up to 'match' I thought YAY finally found what I've been looking for. DEAD WRONG.
When I opened the packaging there was oil spots on the makeup. I wiped the top layer off and still thought what the heck just give it a go. I put it on and oh my. The color was not a 'True Match' at all!! So much lighter than what it looked like it was.
I will say that it did feel good on my skin after I put it on. But between the color matching not being correct and the way it settled into my skin, it just looked horrible. I will not be buying this again.
I bought this because I love the True Match concealer, and thought they must make good products. Well, they make some good products...this is not one of them! Honestly, it's probably one of the worst things I've ever put on my face. My face is prone to dry patches, and as soon as I put this stuff on, every dry spot was like...emphasized 100%. My face looked gross and flaky, and I washed it off immediately, could not even step out of the house with this stuff on. Good thing CVS accepts returns on makeup.
Ok, so this is a horrible foundation.....but......I gave this 4 lippies because I decided to try this as a concealer and guess what?.....it works really well!!!! I am the queen of concealing and I normally use L'oreal's liquid concealer mixed with Almay's stick concealer and then set it with powder. This eliminates those three components because I use a dab of this on my "problem" areas after putting on my foundation and it works beautifully. I am really excited about it and the color match is perfect for my skin (N-3).
UPDATE: Uhm, even as a concealer it didn't hold up throughout the day. I will stick to their liquid concealer.
I picked this up because I like the True Match liquid foundation, and I was hoping for a compact that I could use for touchups on the go because my nose runs incessantly, or for next day application after impromptu overnights. Sad to say, this product bears practically no relationship to the True Match liquid. Like many other reviewers here, I simply cannot find a way to apply this product without it streaking horribly and settling into every imperfection of my face, not to mention the fact that it literally sucks every last bit of moisture out of my face, leaving me with obvious dry patches and flakes.
The True Match liquid is drying enough for me, given that it is an oil-free formulation, although it works just fine when applied over a good moisturizer (I've been using Korres stuff) and a good primer (I use Laura Mercier Foundation Primer-Hydrating). I'm really upset about the fact that I paid 13 USD or so for this compact and it's going to end up in the dustbin. It's one good feature is the packaging, which I love. Too bad the makeup doesn't work. I imagine it might work if you already have flawless skin, but then you wouldn't need the makeup, would you?
As I said, I like the True Match liquid, their concealer, and their blush, but not the powder (too dark to use over the foundation, at least in the N4 or N5 color that I use, even though it's suppose to coordinate--I stick with LM translucent powder), and definitely not this compact foundation. I like having a drugstore option in addition to my more usual Laura Mercier products, simply because of the price, and all the magazines have been raving over L'Oreal True Match for years now, but this new formulation is quite simply terrible. I hope they rework it.
I think this foundation is great! I found the coverage to be med, but buildable if you need a little extra some day. Seems to have good lasting power, too. I have super oily skin and I do need to wear powder over it about half way through the day, but one touch up is not a big deal. It is also very cheap compared to the dept store foundations that i would normally wear. My only complaint is the color is sooooo much lighter than it looks - pick the color you think you should buy and buy the next darker one!
(These are other people's comments - but match what I would have said exactly! I normally wear double wear by estee and this is comparable in coverage and lasting power...for $10 or whatever - perfect for everyday! Love it! and I love the powder too!)
for a foundation, I absolutely hate this product, its goes on streaky adn makes certain parts of your face look uneven, but I have found a perfect use for it, its a really good concealer.putting a little bit on with your finger and it goes on light and smooth and amzaingly. I love it for a concealer, terrible foundaiton though.
