I love this foundation! I had it for 6 months now before I decided to write a review... and now I am convinced that I have found my HG foundation! I wore it countless times to parties and it has never failed me. My skin looks so smooth yet natural. It gives a natural glow to your skin. And it doesn't accentuate dry flaky patch on my skin either. It didn't break me out either. The only thing that I need to do is blot once in a while on my t-zone. But that's okay... because the finish of this foundation looks amazingly natural in real life and my skin looks fabulously flawless on pictures too!
The only thing that I don't like about this foundation is the packaging. It comes in a bottle with no pump. The opening of the bottle is too big and sometimes I ended up pouring out more than I used. I like the jelly-like consistency of this foundation though... it feels hydrating.
I think I will still definitely stick by this foundation despite its poor packaging. Finally I can have a foundation that I can always count on.
I just love the finish of this foundation...my face looks completely natural & smooth! I also have extremely oily skin and it hasn't been a problem so far...so glad I bought it!
This is my favorite everyday foundation.
It makes my face look naturally flawless and is the only foundation that doesn't transfer to everything during the summer months. The MUFE store in NY mixes a custom color for me but I'm closest to 12 with dash of 44 mixed in.
This is my HG. In winter when I am a little pale, I tend to go for something with a little more coverage. However, I always come running back to FB. Sheer yet buildable coverage in an oil free formula. Packaging is now a 5 since they added a pump.
Well, I used this for about a week before returning it to Sephora. I really wanted to like it, but couldn't stand my face being so shiny. The thing is, most foundation looks kind of bad to me when I first put it on, because I hate the way I look with a perfectly matte face. But then within 45 minutes the makeup starts to soak up oil from my face and I look great to myself (until 3-5 hrs later when I have to blot, of course). Well, with this foundation, I skip the window of looking a little sick/dead, and immediately start off with a nice glowy radiance. The effect is really stunning, I have to say. I look 3 or 4 years younger than my 21 years, and like I've just gotten back from a long, restful vacation in paradise. Or something. Unfortunately it only takes about an hour for my face to start feeling oily and gross and looking greasy. Theoretically I could fight this with blotting and powdering, but I'd rather find a foundation with a finish that better suits my skin type. Really though, this is a wonderful product and other oily-skinned girls might find ways for it to work for them. Otherwise, I found that Tarte smooth operator had very similar coverage, and took my oily-ness and turned it into a nice, healthy glow that didn't need to be touched up with blotting until about 6 hours. Unfortunately it made me break out, but it may or may not have that effect on others.
According to cosDNA, this foundation has only one comedogenic ingredient (butylene glycol) in it, which is almost unheard of for any foundation, high-end or drugstore. To boot, butylene glycol only has a rating of 1, with 0 being non-comedogenic and 5 being extremely comedogenic. In fact, when I bought this product, I was dealing with a mild breakout from the smooth operator, and my breakout subsided despite wearing F&B every day.
-Wonderful, glowy, doll-like skin (almost like highlighter and foundation in one)
-Won't clog pores
-Nice amount of coverage, somewhere between a tinted moisturizer and your standard medium coverage foundation
-38 dollars isn't cheap, but that's for 1.7 oz (whereas most HE foundations are similarly priced for 1 oz)
-Gel texture makes application with fingers the only feasible option, which I find to be a little time-consuming and tedious compared to using a brush or sponge
-Sorta limited color selection. I found shade 20 to be just a little too light, but 32 was waaaaaay too dark
-Dewy finish = hot mess on my oily-combo skin after just 1 hour :(
EDIT: Well ladies, after a long-overdue skincare overhaul, I am now able to use this! I was the typical case of someone who thought they had oily skin because I didn't moisturize or exfoliate properly, so my skin was a hot mess! I do still have to break out the blotting sheets after 5 or 6 hours, but I don't consider that to be a hassle or a deal breaker. Always remember: skincare first, makeup second! AHA, BHA, and/or mandelic acid does so much more to control oil than any primer or powder could ever dream to! Oh, and one last thing--other reviewers have mentioned it already, but I found that warming this up between my fingers before applying makes the finish less shiny. You can feel the texture change as you rub it between your fingers, it gets slightly thicker and almost tacky. I apply it thinly and really rub it into my skin, just like if it was a skincare product (as a previous reviewer also mentioned.) Hope that helps!
I love love love this product! Its very light in texture and I didnt think it would be enough coverage as I have freckles on my nose and cheeks which I like to cover up but once I applied this foundation my skin looked like actual skin but without any blemishes!!! I apply up to 2 pumps of this product with a stippling brush and I get an absolute flawless coverage, I have tried applying with other tools and just hands but the stippling brush works best. I used to used a highlighter on the sides of my cheeks and the mid of my nose but I find thes foundation has a dewy look so I have no need to apply any highlighter. I would definately buy this foundation once its finished again but I just hate the price of this its so expensive but for how it makes me feel I would easily pay this price.
on a trip to MAC the sales associate said he wouldnt sell me any other foundation rather than their face and body because I have good skin and nothing to cover. I wasnt keen on the mac face and body so I bought this one instead, and its HG material for me!
It is perfect skin is a bottle and it looks like radiant summer skin!
If you have a lot to cover up, I mean serious problems, you can layer it because it NEVER cakes but its defeating the purpose. It does however cover some redness around my nose and chin and it helps brighten up my ugly dark circles.
I do have to settle it (I usually go for mufe hd powder) and in the summer I blot my t-zone once a day, other than that its fine. I dont even wear primer underneath because I can be bothered.
I apply it with my sigma f80 and it doesnt looks streaky at all. My only complain is that sephora in portugal isnt selling it with the new package, with the pump!
Oh, price wise. Yes, it is expensive but it lasts me a good 9/10 months using it daily, no joke, you only need a small amount.
I consider myself somewhat of a foundation junkie, but I always kind of ignored MUFE F&B. A Sephora SA once told me I needed to avoid it because it would "clog my pores and cause acne." I have extremely sensitive/acne-prone skin, I figured that was all I needed to hear to never want to use it. I use Tazorac gel (0.1%) and Aczone, and certain areas of my face, mainly my chin and jawline, tend to flake/peel. Even with heavy moisturizing, my foundation would just sit on top of the flakes. When I started to look into moisturizing/hydrating foundations, I rediscovered MUFE F&B. To my surprise, I read that it wasn't actually likely to be bad for sensitive skin (ugh Sales Associate from Sephora). I wear shade 38, which works wells for my very fair skin. Unfortunately, I have yet to apply this with a foundation brush without tons of streaking. When I use a cosmetic wedge, the results are quite nice. The coverage is light, but it's somewhat buildable. I see a teeny bit of flakiness showing through, but not nearly as much as before. But remember, I'm an extreme case with ridiculously dry skin from two topical retinoids. Considering all of that, I'm pretty happy with this foundation.
UPDATE: Well, don't I feel silly. After reading some other reviews, I tried applying this with my Sigma F80, and WOW does it make a difference! Absolutely zero streaking, and it's so much more buildable than before. If you have an F80, I would really recommend using it to apply this foundation.
UPDATE 2: Well, I've been using this foundation regularly for almost 5 months now and I'm almost finished with my first bottle. I have around 4 or 5 foundations in my rotation, and this is definitely the one I reach for most often. It's not easy to find an exact color match being an N/NW10-12 (did I make that one up?), but shade 38 is by far the best match I've ever used. It's perfect. I no longer use topical retinoids, so flaking is no longer an issue. I still prefer to apply with the Sigma F80 as it gives the best finish. I changed my overall rating from a 4 to a 5. I highly recommend this foundation!
I wanted this to work SO badly :( My usual go to is Alima Pure mmu, but combination of winter + retin a means my skin is extremely dry, so I'm on the quest for a liquid foundation. The reviews prompted me to choose this one first. I got a sample from Sephora. Day 1: Loved the glowy look I got and kept throughout the day. I'm in my 40's, so my skin can tend to look dull and this was a pleasant change. Noticed it felt a little odd on my face but disregarded. Day 2: Face felt hot and slightly itchy the entire day I wore it. When I cleansed, I had whiteheads forming on my chin. Morning of Day 3: I woke up to welty, flaming red, itchy skin. I have NEVER had a reaction like this. I have no idea what caused it, but will do some research and update this if I figure it out..
Still worth trying a sample from Sephora though. It has a beautiful finish.
I never thought I would find a liquid foundation that actually worked for me. I have dry, red skin that needs some love. I bought this because I was in the market for a waterproof option, I fell in love. This covers really well and won't budge. I use a primer, MUFE Face & Body, and MUFE HD finishing powder it looks amazing. This is not an everyday product because I am lazy and don't need that much coverage (more lazy), but when I want to look good I grab for this first. I have tried a lot of liquids and I guess I am picky. They are either took thick, cakey, drying, or greasy; not this one I cannot even feel I have it on at all. Advise on this product though, make sure you rub it in until it won't let you any longer. You will know what I mean, try it on your arm. If you do that this will not rub off even when you blow your nose. I will defiantly buy this again.
