This is quite expensive but I have been on the same tube for 6 months and it still seems pretty full. I have super oily skin. If I don't use this, my makeup will oxidize and I will have to blot at least 4 times a day. When I use this, my makeup doesn't oxidize all day and I only need to blot once, if at all. My dark marks also seemed to fade much faster once I started using this. Love this product and am super surprised by the great quality and oil control!

I love this stuff - I have an oily t zone and this controls the oil all day. I've worn this in the Caribbean in the middle of summer and it kept my oil production to a minimum, that's how great it is. It doesn't break me out or feel heavy on the skin. I really hate the packaging though. It's pricey but my bottle lasts about 1 year so it's a worth while investment.

I hoped this primer would keep my oily T-zone shine-free. Unfortunately it did not. It got so oily that I had to blot regularly. No matter what foundation I used, my T-zone got very oily during the day. At the end of the day, there was no foundation left on my T-zone. The packaging is horrible as well. It is difficult to dose and difficult to see how much product is left. The only positive thing about this primer is the high SPF factor, but that's the only thing.
Anyway, I would not repurchase this primer. My Chanel le Blanc Sheer Illuminating Base does a much (x10) better job at mattifying my T-zone.

This is quite an expensive product for such little quantity. I thought it was an average primer. I bought it for the spf protection but overall, I thought that it was very average in terms of priming & keeping my makeup on

I hate the bottle. It would leak into the cap. Towards the end of the bottle it gets hard to squeeze out and you need to put a bit of force into it causing a huge amount to come out.

Would but purchase again as I think that there are better primers out there with spf protection and in a similar price range. continued >>

This is great both as a primer and as a sunscreen. Of course we know that physical sunscreens don't offer the best UVA protection, but anyway a physical-only SPF 50 is great for me right know, as I found out that chemical sunscreens irritate my skin a lot. Anyway, if you apply enough for it to be a real sunscreen, it can go on a little white (just a LITTLE - not really white like Shiseido sunscreens) but you can just wait a few minutes than it sets in your skin. It doesn't make me oily and didn't break me out at all. Now that my skin is pretty clear and I don't have discoloration or acne issues - just some oiliness in the T-zone and some large pores around my nose - people think I am wearing foundation when I'm actually wearing just this primer and underye concealer, because the primer really gives that flawless appearance to the skin. It's perfect as a base for mineral makeup, too, and makes blush application easier.
I own Avon Magix Primer and LM oil-free primer and both don't even compare to this one. Magix has a lot of silicones, is really weird to apply and its sunscreen is not nearly as effective as MAC's. LM oil free primer feels like a light moisturizer, but doesn't work as well as MAC's as a primer (and doesn't have SPF) .
Anyway, this is a must buy for people who want a good sunscreen that doesn't mess with their makeup. I bought it 2 months ago and altough I still have a lot left in the bottle, I just bought a backup because it's really that good.

I've used this Mac prep & prime 50 spf sunscreen/primer for almost 2 yrs now. I like that it doesn't go on white; doesn't stain my clothes yellow; doesn't break me out.

But the price is high at $30; the container is small; the package horrible--at least 1/4 of the product gets stuck in the tube when it gets low and you have to pull the plug out and dig the product out with a clean Q-tip. For these reasons I'm only giving it 3 lippies.  continued >>

This primer is great! I usually have to blot and re-powder every 2 hours. Now, I only have to do this twice...after lunch and before dinner. It doesn't dry out my skin like Sephora, Smashbox, or MUFE HD. I just put in on a few minutes after moisturizing (Olay Complete Sensitive SPF 15) and a few minutes before foundation (NARS Sheer Glow). I'm so happy that I splurged on this product (due to the good reviews here) because it has made such a big difference.

It's a great primer and everything, BUT... It has the worse smell. I hardly ever wear mine because of how bad the smell is.

This is a good primer, it's the only one I've been able to find that does keep me matte, however, I owe some of the shine control to the oil control lotion as well. I combine the two together and they keep me matte and my makeup fresh all day long. When this is used alone, it works good but not as good as when I mix with the lotion. The same stands for the lotion too, it works well but not as great as when combined with this. Just to see I mixed it with some of my neutrogena oil free moisturizer and it didn't do as well either. I defenitely think it needs mac's oil control lotion. But you're looking at $60! It's a little thick and expensive for the amount. By mixing this with the lotion I'm hoping I get a few months out of the two. If this product is gone within a month I don't know that I would fork out the money again. Everybody is right about the packaging, it's aweful and I will defenitely cut it open when I think it's gone. It hasn't broken me out and I'm very happy it does keep my makeup fresh all day. If they knocked $10 bucks of the price I bet they would sell a lot more.

EDIT: I had quit using this for a while because I wasn't really liking it. Then I started using studio sculpt foundation and tried this primer, once more, with it and OMG!! The results are absolutely wonderful and I can't get over how great my makeup looks throughout the day. It only takes a little and I find using a brush to apply this keeps it from balling up. I still agree that it helps with oil control and I'm not even using the oil control lotion anymore. This helped my makup stay on all day this past weekend through the sweating and all the heat. The SPF is a bonus!

I have used this every day since I bought it a few months ago. Inititially, I was on a primer hunt and had thought I found the best one for me in Lancome's Base Pro. The other praised ones, including Smashbox all broke me out horribly. However, I needed a sunscreen and I admit that it was just tiresome to apply my Shiseido Sunscreen and then Base Pro. I then skipped the primer and just used the sunscreen under my Studiofix Powder. After a few hours my makeup would cake and find lines to settle in (lines that I never thought I had...). Not a good look but then I am really picky and prefer a no makeup look while wearing a lot of it!

I went to my MAC counter and bought this in desperation. First of all, it dries quickly. No need for me to wait 30 min. between applying sunscreen and then powder. Now it's just lotion, wait 2 min., apply Prep and Prime, wait 2 min., and apply foundation. It makes my makeup last a good 10 hours before I see any fading. It does not break me out. The packaging is ok. But, it is pricey, there is no denying that. However, it has become a staple for me in such a short time that I will continue to repurchase. Highly recommended!
