This is the only mascara I've purchased for a number of years now. My lashes are dark, long, and thick, so most of the time I'm only looking for a bit of length and enhancement, not volume. This mascara fits the bill on both counts. My lashes look fluttery and slightly enhanced, nothing too crazy. If you're looking for extreme volume, this is not the mascara for it.
I have not had this clump on me at all, and it really does make your lashes feel soft and in no way stiff. I can build up to two light coats without any problems. It also washes off easily with my normal cleanser. The only downfall: I have had this (the non-waterproof formula) smudge on me in extremely hot weather, but that won't deter me from continuing to buy it. It is the best performing mascara for me that I can easily get at the drugstore.
I have to say I bought this mascara because of other peoples review and am not impressed. I found the formula to be too watery. Doesn't seperate my lashes at all and clumps way too much.
My lashes are medium to long with a good natural curl and very blonde tips. I've had and used this mascara in various colors and formulas for years. It's, imo, dependable, inexpensive, and extremely versatile, which is why I keep buying it . The packaging is a smallish, sleek aluminum tube with .28 (?) ounces. The consistency is medium to dry, the wand is a medium sized 'traditional' bristle, the scent is one of slightly bitter acrylic paint (which is not noticeable after application), the color is true (either black or black/brown dep. on color I'm using). Depending on how many layers I put on it will go from natural to dramatic. It does a great job of bulking up my lashes, but other than coloring my very blonde lash tips, it does not lengthen my lashes. For me it layers well and if I have the patience, and after 3 or 4 coats I can get some dramatically full lashes. I don't have an issue with clumping if I do the root 'wiggle' and pull it to the tip. I have found that I need to do one eye at a time if I want to layer several coats, if the formula dries before I apply another coat the layering does not go as smoothly. I don't curl my lashes (they don't need it ) and the formula does not weigh them down or alter my curl at all. The finish is semi-gloss and it never flakes on me. I really appreciate that no matter how much I layer it that my lashes remain soft and flexible. After about 6-7 hours (with regular, not waterproof formula) it will leave some smudging on my corners and below the bottom lashes if I apply it there. If I use a lash primer the regular formula doesn't budge, and if I use the waterproof formula it won't budge either and I have sensitive eyes that 'tear' and water *a lot*. I think that the waterproof formula of this is probably the most gentle waterproof formula I've ever used. It's not gummy, tacky, flakey, dry, or difficult to remove. I have zero lash fallout with either the regular or waterproof. I've also noticed that the regular formula layers over any of the separate 'fiber' products reasonably well. It is *ever so slightly* dry for the separate fiber products, but it works and holds. The regular formula rinses off well with my regular (cetaphil or aveda all sensitive) cleanser and the waterproof with an eye makeup remover or cold cream/baby oil. If you're someone that wants a dependable, extremely versatile mascara and you're okay with having to layer it to go from natural to dramatic, this is an excellent drugstore option. If you are a fan of huge lashes without work/layering, you might prefer something like L'Oreal Voluminous or (if you want to spend $) Diorshow that will do the volume thing in one or two coats.
I bought this mascara recently based on the reviews I read on here, and have to say I returned mine already. Maybe I got a bad one? I find the formula was very dry. I love L'oreal mascaras, they seem to work so much better.
I wish I could find another mascara as good as this, because I know this one has beeswax in it and I've been vegan for a while. The truth is, for me, nothing has worked like this product has. It defines the lashes beautifully and garners so many compliments for me from both men and women. I don't know whether this product really lengthens the lashes, since I already have lashed that are kind of long, but it definitely defines them. It has a good brush that can get into the corners and none of that silly silicone/comb business that just causes clumps and makes the lashes look awful.
I'm surprised that a few people have said that it's good for when you're looking for a natural look. I'll qualify this--it doesn't make your lashes look or feel crisp, crunchy, or clumpy, but it won't make you look like you don't have makeup on. If you have dark lashes, that MAY be the case. I have light brown hair and you can definitely see that I'm wearing mascara with this, but it defines them in a way that emphasises what I already have instead of making it seem artificial or anything. I use a lot of mascara when I apply this, and I really like it how you can build the layers on without causing clumping.
I didn't notice it for a few years of use, but with the tube I'm on now, I've noticed that it does gradually dry. This my not affect you if you wear makeup every day, but I wear it at the most once every few days and someones as little as once every week or two, so mine has dried out a bit and gets kind of clumpy, affecting the extent to which you can build layers.
This was my HG mascara for a long time (until I found Max Factor 2000 Calorie) because of its ability to keep my lashes curled and upright all day, due to its light formula.
I have dead straight Asian lashes, which aren't that short, so when they're curled properly they actually look ok without falsies. I curl my lashes before applying any mascara and use the Shu Uemura curler.
This is a fantastic mascara for everyday - it looks good and black and really natural. You will never get clumps, and it builds nicely. To the point where a couple of ppl actually asked if I was wearing falsies!
It is a mascara which won't wreck your lashes, and is relatively moist. No flaking at all. If it is really hot and humid there will be some smudging but on those days I tended to use the waterproof version, which I used the whole time I was in Bali. The wand is a normal medium brush and I prefer the straight one. I hate those rubber brushes!
Definitely try this if you want a cheap mascara (i.e. not $50, this will set you back around $18) which looks natural but is buildable and won't weigh down lashes.
More about me:
Asian normal skin - tending towards combination in summer
Was acne-prone for years
Foundation preference is to look as yellow as possible, absolutely nil pink
MAC NC-30, Shiseido O60
Sunscreen everyday - alternating between Sofina and Invisible Zinc
CLAIM: Full, soft & thick lashes. Quick dissolve system that removes easily.
MY THOUGHTS: Full bristled classic brush makes it easy to apply the mascara evenly - good for when you're getting ready in a rush. It provides slight thickening at the base of my lashes and is able to hold my curl. However, when I wear mascara - I want DRAMATIC results - this is too subtle for my taste.
GOOD FOR: Someone who only wants subtle lash definition.
Very nice mascara! I normally wear my HG Lancome Definicils, but when I ran out one day and needed a backup, I bought Full 'N Soft. The packaging is decent, brush is a little big, but for $5, you forgive these things. I used this mascara until I ran out, then purchased it again. It isn't as good as Lancome, but for only one fifth the cost, it's a total bargain. I may have found a new broke college student HG.
I really don't love this as much as everyone thought I should considering all the high reviews. It's just good not great. I don't think it makes my lashes full unless I keep going back to layer it. After several layers it looks hard and wet-looking, not soft. It also flakes a little. I have fine hair and medium thickness of the lashes so maybe it's better for thicker lashes.
over all it does what it says, it makes your lashes full and soft, no flakyness for me, it lasts all day without smudging. honestly i use it when i dont want to wear alot of makeup and it just adds a little more umph to my eyes so it isnt s bare
