I have horrible acne and this line of products does not work for shizzles! if i knew it wasnt going to work i wouldve just spent it on clothes or something. I forgot to mention that the toner is very harmful on your face because it stings ur face as it strips off the oil causing discoloration. The smell is also very overwhelming. The lotion is pretty drying to ur skin which sucks because the toner is drying enough. The cleanser was alright but why pay so much for a regular cleanser that doesn't work when u could settle for something much more better for half the price.

Before I start my review I will just mention how I use this line.

I bought the trial size set of the foaming face wash, the toner, and the clearing moisturizer because my chin has been breaking out really bad. I haven't actually bought acne specific skin care in a really long time. Anyway my chin is the only problem besides some blackheads on my nose.

For this regimen I use the cleanser all over my face, the toner just on my nose and chin, and the lotion just on my chin, maybe a tiny bit on my nose. I use my normal moisturizer on the rest of my face.

I started using this the day I brought it home. I used everything twice a day for two days, and the best way I can describe what happened is to say my skin curdled. It was awful. My chin (which had been getting the full treatment) turned really dry, rough and inflamed. Never in my life had that happened to me before. All three products together were just too strong for me, I guess. I went off it for a few days and everything returned to normal, including the breakouts.

I didn't want to waste my money so I tried this again, just once a day. It has been over a week now and my skin is not irritated from this, and my pimples dried right up within a day or 2, and no more have formed. (The blackheads didn't move but we all know how THOSE are.) So apart from the initial scare this gave me, I like it. It does say to reduce use to once a day if the skin is irritated, but it's in tiny letters and the instruction to use twice a day is prominent so keep that in mind.

I said I would buy this again but hopefully I won't need to!

October: I moved this from 4 to 5 lippies. I use it once a day and it keeps my skin totally clear now. Awesome!!

I absolutely love this, it completely fixed my skin. At first I was a little worried because it made my skin very dry and flakey at first, so I started exfoliating with Clinique's 7day scrub every other day, and during the day I would follow the 3-step system with Clinique's DDML (Dramatically different moisturizing lotion) and I saw a huge improvement almost instantly. I have very very sensitive acne-prone skin and am usually oily in t-zone and dry in the cheeks for the most part. I highly recommend this and don't give up on it right away when it dries you out. :)
I am not sure why the reviewer below me hated this so much, and especially since they said they had flawless skin before. why use "acne solutions" on flawless skin? Baffles me! But anyways... great product! Love Clinique!

I will NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN! I was using this product for about three months and instantly i saw results. but after a few weeks BAM pimples galore!

It irritated my skin every time I used it but the people at the counter said to use it for about 8 weeks. Big mistake.
save your money and dont even try this product. I have known alot of people since then that have used this product and it hasnt worked for them either.

P.S- My face used to be flawless until I used this product.

Acne products work differently on everyone. I don't think there is one single acne product that would be effective on everyone. Since Junior High I always had acne-prone skin. I'd have a face full of acne primarily my T-zone and left cheek. I would find good products they would work for months, my skin would get used to it, I'd crazy break out, look for new products, clear up, break out, begin a new search....it was a vicious cycle.

I have tried out a ungodly amount of drug store products, catalog products, at least 2 spa skincare lines, the Acne free systems, skincare lines from Asia, and I'm pretty sure that is it. But this is the only product I have used that has lasted so many years on me...even with my stressed out college skin. I'm not saying it worked because it is a department store line, because I am primarily and drug store shopper but this has been my go to system for years.

I tossed the foaming face wash and opted for the bar soap and I love it.

The price actually works out because the products last so long anyway.

I'm not saying this product will work for everyone but it certainly works for me.

Love this! I didn't have acne as a teen and developed it after the birth of my daughter at age 28. I've tried countless products, prescription after prescription and this is the only thing that works for me. I've tried to not like it and move on to something fancier, or cheaper and always come right back to it. I've recently added the new Clinique Acne Mask and that just adds to the charm. I do follow the steps accordingly but only use step 3 (the moisturizer) at night or every other day. Will buy again and again...

I have combo skin, with blackheads on my nose and occasional breakouts on my forehead. I tried using this whole kit for a month and I did see my skin clear up (although it made me verrrrrrrry dry). Then it mostly stopped working. I switched to a different line of products only to see my skin get worse again. So I started using a milder face wash with Acne Solutions BP moisturizer and my skin is totally clear. :)
In a nutshell, I recommend using only the moisturizer in this kit. The rest is just too harsh.

I decided to try this because my friend used it and it gave her such great results! So i went out and got the 3 step kit. The foaming cleanser, the toner and the moisturizer.

For the first couple of days my skin was super dry. I mean super dry (flaking). I have oily/combo skin too. So I was surprised of all the flaking around my chin and cheeks. Forehead was fine. Talked to my friend about this and she said I should switch to every other day with the moisturizer (contains bp so it can be very dying). She uses the moisturizer only at night and uses a regular moisturizer in the morning. So i started switching off. Well, after a couple of weeks into. (was pretty dry for about a week or so) My skin started clearing up! Yay! I dont understand how so many people are hating this product. It has salicylic acid and bp in it (which are two active ingredients in fighting acne). Maybe you guys are overdoing it with the moisturizer?

I found that the moisturizer is not a moisturizer and should be used only around the areas that you break out most often. The cleanser is great, leaves me feeling very clean. The toner smells but it also does pick up the extra gunk that is leftover from the cleansing process, which i found that i liked.

At night, after I do the toner (wait about 5 minutes), i put the moisturizer only around those areas (i.e. chin area) and then wait about 10-15 min for that to soak into the skin. Then I put my philosophy help me all over my face. And wait about 10 min for that to soak in. Lastly, I put jojoba oil all over my face as an extra moisturizer. Skin is clear!! (because you are using bp, a good moisturizer is needed). Seems to be working so far for me. Been using this line for 2 months. No serious breakouts. maybe one or two around the chin during my time of the month.

Would i recommend it? Yes based on my experience and i've tried everything. I mean everything (accutane, proactiv, differin, antibiotics...) but I don't like the bp moisturizer though, u can probably find a comparable one at CVS or something. The trick is to stick with it as it takes a couple of weeks for you skin to start adapting to it (flakiness, purging, etc) and if you are using something stronger before i would wait a week or so before you start on this.

I took off a lippie because I didn't like the bp moisturizer.

Age: 18 & Under Skin: Acne-prone, Fair, Warm Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Medium Eyes: Green

Usually I try to expect the worse of an acne product, simply because I'm tired of being disappointed by the fact that they seem do to nothing for my skin. But Clinique, with it's spiffy name, pretty packaging and high end prices, filled me with a glimmer of hope that, 'Yes! This may be the product that actually wipes out my blemishes!'

But unfortunately, one month and $65 bucks later, I was left with the same amount of bumps and blemishes on my chin and the same amount of blackheads on my nose, albeit my face being drier allover.

I purchased the starter kit of the cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, as well as the Emergency Lotion and Spot Healing Gel. I'll only review the first three here, though.

For the first three days, I tried to wash my face twice a day, morning and night. This proved to be tricky. I'd been using Purpose cleanser for three weeks, which "oiled" up my dry, acne-product-ridden skin, but also left me with pimples alongside my nose, where I usually never get them. Cliniqie cleared those right up, but left my face tight, dry, and slightly ruddy, with blemishes still bouncing up on my chin. So I started using this once a day, at night, along with a separate moisturizer to keep some of the dryness at bay. Sadly, my skin just didn't change.

The only product I really liked was the cleanser, which didn't leave my face too tight, but also didn't cleanse well, as the rather harsh toner seemed to pick up all sorts of ruddy things. The moisturizer shouldn't even be labeled as such, seeing as it provided zero moisture, and left my skin reddish in sensitive areas and very dry.

The packaging is nice, though. Very clean and organized. However, I've never spent so much on products in my (short) life, and felt odd shelling over the big bucks just in hopes of banishing my stubborn acne.

Overall, I was disappointed with this product and would not repurchase. The only upside is that I'm now sure that the persistent acne on my chin is purely hormonal, seeing as this line did clear up the blossoming blemishes that sprang up after using Purpose.
I would recommend saving your money and seeing a derm, which is my next stop should bcp and my current routine fail to zap the zits.
