I was rushing to go out to dinner and forgot my usual lipstain at home so i stopped at the drug store to grab something quick. I had seen the commercials for this lipstain and figured I would give it a try, the price was right too since they were having a buy one get one 1/2 off sale. I ended up with a berry color and a orangey red color. The applicator is pretty neat, you draw the color onto your lips with the felt like tip pen, however in my opinion too much product comes out too easily and it ends up getting all over the place. Also, the colors did not really mesh well with my skin (unlike my stila pomegranate lip stain), and it looked more clown like than a natural flush.
Also, the product left my lips feeling dry. I quickly returned these two products.
This stain is ok. The color indicated was nothing like the color I ended up getting. My lips felt really dry and each time I wore it I was asked why I was talking funny and moving my lips strangely. It works well when combined with a lipstick.
This product is nothing special...pretty much another fail from Cover Girl. What bothered me the most about it is that the "stain", while pretty when you first apply it, wears off ridiculously fast, even if you're not eating or drinking or kissing, etc. I own several other lip stains, my favorites being by Bloom and MAC, and those last almost all day when I wear them. I guess I kind of expected the same thing from the CG ones, but I really shouldn't have. Also, I purchased this product in 3 different shades (a pink, a berry, and a nude), and they all looked the SAME on my lips! WTH?!
I would definitely not repurchase this, or any of the other drugstore lip stains that are coming out these days (Maybelline, Revlon)...I'd rather pay a few more dollars for a product that actually works.
I purchased this in the berry shade because I wanted something that would be lighter than a lipstick and last longer than a gloss. When I stumbled upon this in the drugstore I thought it was a product that fit the bill. Boy, was I wrong. The color barely showed up on my lips and completely dried them out. Not to mention it is ridiculously expensive for a drugstore brand and lasted all of 15minutes.
I've recently made the dramatic change of colouring my naturally dark blonde (heavily highlighted) hair, going from dark brown on May 20th, to a full-on blue based black last Friday. VERY dramatic, and though a lot of people can't pull off black hair (too severe), it seems to be working for me.
I own a lot of red lipsticks, but wanted something sheer & portable for summer. Having used Body Shop's lipstain pen in 1997 (disc't years ago), I've been curious about Cover Girl's product. Thankfully, the nearby London Drugs had testers for all of the shades. I purchased "Plum Pout", and love the colour for it's vibrancy!
Agree: it does bleed, and I should have known better than to wear it without a transparent liner.
Agree: a bit pricey for what it is. I think it was $8.99 (before taxes), but London Drugs is pretty good at honoring sale prices should the product go on sale within two weeks of purchase.
Agree: doesn't last all that long. Whilst enjoying a couple of pints of beer last night, I had to reapply (more than once). But maybe I just wanted it to remain as vibrant as it was upon application.
Will I buy it again? Maybe. Still, a better option for a lip product that will neither melt, smear, nor turn gooey in the heat.
Pictures of me wearing the product last night (and the product feathering around my mouth)!

My first lipstain and I like it! I have two colors and they are both nice. Hard to see the color until you buy it. Packaging is nice. Staying power is good and it seems to fade pretty evenly. Let it set/dry before you apply anything over top.

Such a wast of money. Pure garbage.
Flirty Nude was more like Orange and didn't last very long. I felt ripped off.

The only reason I put "yes" for rebuying is because it's the only lip stain that is at a decent price. I'm not too into lip products so I wouldn't spend anything more than $6 on a lip product unless it's a MAC or a different brand of matte lipstick. I was hoping that this lipstain would give a similar "wash of color without sheen" effect. It did ok. It does sink into the wrinkles of my lips a lot (since I have dry lips) and will wear off immediatly if you lick your lips. The good thing is, the color I got, berry smooch, is very versitile. A light touch will give you a natural red pink look and it can be built up to a bright red lip. It stays on as long as you don't lick your lips and it smells great. The brush tip does hurt your lip a little when applying, and it's a tiny tiny bit sticky, though that's not a big deal for me. Also, all the shades are SUPER RED for my already rose pink/mauve lips. The only color that would've been good was everbloom, but that one was sold out. So overall, I do like the light flush of red it gave me and if you have very light, baby pink lips, these would be perfect. I would repurchase because I will not spend over $6 for a lipstain and this is the only decent one for $6.99
UPDATE: I started hating this one so much since I couldn't get it to look good and it dried up in a few days so I exchanged it for the color "Bit of Blossom" and I like it a lot more! It's a lovely sheer pink that can be built up to a prettier looking red than "Berry Smooch" and the formulation is much smoother, more blendible and less drying. The only thing is, it only lasts a few hours, but that not a big deal for me as I usually reapply lip products after lunch. Also, I found a coupon for $1 off, so I got this for about $5. I've upgraded this to 4 lippies for rating and 2 lippies for the price. Yes I would repurchase, but I'd like to try the L'oreal lipstain that just came out first.
