I was really hoping this was going to be a great buy.
I have decent eyelashes already, but this mascara separated my lashes and made them stiff and spidery. It wasn't pretty. I returned it after giving it a couple of trys. I think a mascara fit for lush volume rather than stiff definition looks better.
Note: I normally use baby oil to remove all mascara and eye make-up (for years - no break outs) and this mascara was difficult to remove! I had to use a remover made for water-proof eye make-up, and even that was hard.
This is the worst mascara I have ever bought. It burns my eyes and my skin. I have never had allergic reaction to make-up but this stuff is like acid!
It does not make nice eye lashes either.
LOVE THIS MASCARA!
When paired with my Shu Umera lash curler, this stuff gives me the longest, most gorgeous lashes ever.
I've had problems with some mascaras that crumble off and this doesn't at all.
The pigment is nice and dark and really accentuates my light brown eyes.
I've bought about 4 tubes of this stuff and will continue on!
As many people have said so far, I also got this in a sample. Loved it in the sample, but for some reason when I purchased the actual product, it was a complete disappointment. I'm not sure if it's my lashes, or maybe I got a bad tube, but it did absolutely nothing for my lashes. It clumped them more than separated and lengthen. I love Benefit products but this was definitely a return for me!
I, like many others, got this in the sample pack for my birthday from Sephora. I had been waiting to try it based on the rave reviews I had read, and it's cult following status. I was pretty disappointed. I get more volume from Maybelline Great Lash, at a quarter price, and don't need a chisel to get that mascara off my lashes! Seriously, this just will not come off. I would not waste $29 on this!
I have long lashes. I mean, I used to CUT THEM as a kid because my sunglasses would smash up against the lenses. Granted, I don't do that anymore!
I have tried and spend countless dollars on everything from Wet n' Wild to Loreal to Lancome to Dior & Guerlain. I want a mascara that volumizes. Don't need lengthening, don't want the spider look, and HATE FLAKES/SMUDGES, especially since I wear undereye concealer.
I mostly buy Voluminous by Loreal at CVS, because it's just my favorite, and I get compliments..."Are those your REAL lashes?" It's nice, my lashes are my favorite feature, I also have lots of long black hair in places I hate, so it's a trade-off!
After hearing about They're Real for a year now, and TIRED of buying another mascara, just to return to Voluminous, but I received the Sephora/Benefit Happy Birthday sample deal that contained the They're Real and Watt's Up minis.
I LOVE THIS MASCARA!!! It really thickens my lashes without making them clumpy, and best of all, NO flakes or smudges, AT ALL. Second full day of wear, and I'm impressed! I was worried when it came to removing at night, b/c of the reviews being a nightmare to remove, but was plesantly surprised when my Yes to Tomatoes/Clairsonic (husband calls it my Cosmotron) removed easily! I will most definitely repurchase, as long as it stays NON SMUDGING!!!
Honestly, not impressed. I payed way too much for this and could have gotten better results from a drugstore mascara. Will never repurchase. Made my lashes fall out after use and made them dry and brittle.
I love having really long thick lashes and this mascara manages to help me achieve that. The packaging of the product is great and also came with a free mini mascara! I love the effect the mascara gives my eyelashes although I sometimes find actually applying the mascara a pain. I find the wand to be quite rough and hard which sometimes makes applying the mascara uncomfortable although that isn't a big deal and wouldn't put me off using it. The biggest downside for me is how easily the mascara smudges. When I apply this mascara and then leave the house I have mascara all under my eyes even though I applied it carefully and made sure it was dry and there were no smudges before I left. Overall it is a decent mascara with good results however I feel it is very expensive for what you get and I've found some high street brands such as maybelline to be much better quality.
I received this as a Sephora birthday gift along with the Porefessional. I had been wanting to try it, but was on the fence about the price. Mostly, I believed that spending a bunch of money on mascara would lead to a marginal difference over drugstore brands.
Benefit They're Real! is a pretty good mascara, much better than drugstore brands I have tried over the years! I have naturally long lashes, and it makes them look even longer. The black is dark enough for evening wear, wouldn't recommend it for daytime (at least for a fair complexion).
The only complaints I have about this mascara is it does clump easier than other mascaras I have tried, and it is a real pain to remove even with makeup remover. I also didn't purchase a full tube yet because there are other offerings that have twice the product for $9 more (Givenchy Noir Couture 4 in 1).
I'm not a false lash fan AT ALL, so I am all for anything that plumps, lengthens, darkens, and adds a bit of drama while keeping the look clean. If you're careful, you can achieve that look with this mascara. Once I run out of this, I might purchase a full tube as I like the overall look it achieves for night-time wear!
I do love this and was amazed by how much length it added to my lashes. However the tip of the brush is supposed to be used to get the corner of my lashes, but because the mascara is so thick an stringy, the end is clogged and can't be used for that. But I would use it for that anyway so I can't really complain. But that's the only real negative side I personally think
