American Cream has a lovely rosey vanilla scent-which will stay in your hair for days! When switching to LUSH conditioners my first complaint is that it didnt give my hair that "slick" feeling I was use too! However, after doing a little research I found out that LUSH conditioners do not have synthetic silicones in them-so the conditioner wont "coat" the hair cuticle...instead, it will penetrate it and condition from the inside out! Since my hair was not being coated and weighed down by nasty silicones-it felt so bouncy and soft! I will never go back to other kinds of hair conditioners.....after using this for about 2 months now my curly, dry and out of control hair-is now smooth happy and shiney! I couldnt ask for more!

I have tried Coolaulin & Veganese which were both good, but American Cream is the best for my hair. I have long, straight, fine hair & AC detangles well enough that I don't need to use a detangler like I did with Veganese. It makes my hair super soft & have less fly-aways. It makes my hair smell delicious too! The scent lasts all day long. I bought the largest bottle, which will last about 5 to 6 months because my medium size bottle of Veganese that I just finished lasted 3 1/2 months with 5 times per week usage (I use Godiva the other 2 days).
Update: 12-6-10:
I have stopped using Lush haircare. It was too drying for my scalp. I do love the idea of solid shampoo & conditioners though & the scents are so amazing. The hair products do have SLS which I've learned can be drying to the scalp. I've been using the Rainforest line from The Body Shop since late summer & liking it so far. continued >>

I literally just used this, as in my hair is still wet. The consistency wasn't as thick as I had hoped...and I'm not sure about how nourishing it was, I will wait and see but so far this seems like just a typical sort of conditioner, not worth 16 bucks. Also, not a big fan of the smell...I think a lot of products in general these days smell like sweet plastic, this is one of them, it's not unbearable nor is it as bad as TiGi's afterparty...but it's still not that great.

This is the mythical conditioner that I thought only existed in legends and dreams. It smells absolutely delicious, which is awesome, but here's the important part: MY HAIR ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE HAIR. This has never happened before! My hair is dyed, bleached, chemically straightened, and abused with heat on a daily basis. It normally has the texture of charred straw, and all the stylish frizzy volume of the Bride of Frankenstein sticking her finger into a light socket. No matter what treatments I use, how much hot oil or deep conditioner I hit it with, it never just chills the hell out and feels nice and soft. Except now. I used this stuff for the first time today. Let my hair dry naturally, then hit it with my straightening iron, which is my usual routine. The difference was unbelievable. First of all, it took about half as much time to straighten as it usually does. I normally have to go over the same section of hair three or four times to get out all the poofs and frizz and waves, but my hair put up significantly less of a fight this time. Secondly, it feels AMAZING. It's wonderfully soft without being so light and weightless I'm having to mess with flyaways. The ends are normally so brittle they're pokey, but I don't have any of that going on right now either. And third and best of all - the frizz is GONE. My hair is actually lying flat, but it's not limp or greasy. It's just...dare I say...behaving itself?! And FWIW, I live in Houston TX, where it's hot, humid, and rainy on a regular basis. If this stuff can tame my hair here, it can tame any hair, any place. The price is kinda ridiculous, but this is one of those things where it's worth the investment. SO EXCITED!

I brought this after not liking the jungle conditioner. I am really not into the smell does not smell like a Malt or a 1950's style sock hop! I really cant say what it smells like to tell you the truth! I do like that is does the job well it keeps my hair soft! I do like that it is very creamy so i dont have to out on a lot on my hair! Yes I will buy this item again but not very often only because the price is very high.

Love it, can't stop smelling my hair!!! The smell is very special, like strong vanilla, and it's still there days after.
It makes me feel good, I use it with my usual shampoo and my hair looks soft and shiny.
It might be expensive but in my opinion it's worth it, and the package is really simple and 100% recycled.
I have normal long hair, and I use it in my ends, as I was afraid too much conditioner would make my head look greasy.

I am quite lucky to be blessed by normal hair that could use any kind of shampoo/conditioner and wouldn't destroy my hair. I don't really like the smell at first but I am amazed to find how long lasting the smell it is, wash it during the evening on the previous day and still can smell it a day later when I was going for my next shower. It wasn't really the best smell but i like the fact that I could smell it after such a long time. I used it with cynthia slyvia stout and now i can't stop touching my silky hair.

This conditioner sucks. It did nothing for my hair. I was sucked in by reviews that said it smelled nice. I don't even like the smell, it's like some drugstore perfume that makes me a little nauseous. It may be fine for thin, virgin hair but it does nothing for my medium length, colored, medium thick hair. The tiny bottle was $8.95 and I would have been better off with some DS crap for half the price and three times the size. UGH. Plus, why does Lush use sodium chloride and SLS in EVERYTHING, even in conditioners?! First, they're horrible for hair color. Second, SLS is not so healthy. I'm glad they don't test on animals. Next step let's stop poisoning the human customers. And stop putting those stupid stickers with creepy people on them on your packaging. It's not cute and that is not what I want to look at first thing in the morning. Thanks.

I really do have a bone to pick with Lush conditioners. This smells amazing, yet has the consistency of dish drops. Coolaulin is even worse. And i've tried 500 gram bottles of each and given them away both times. There is something distinctly wrong with the formula. There is no moisturising aspects to either of them! Your hair might smell nice but unfortunately it looks terrible. Such a shame :(

I am glad that I got to sample this, as I was expecting a vanilla/strawberry scented conditioner from the description on the LUSH! materials. While the scent is not unpleasant, the top note is definitely lavender, not vanilla. So this is just 'ok' for me.
