Edit: I am upping my overall rating to 5 lippies. I think this mascara is the best I've tried to date. A random woman even complimented me on my lashes. This is major for me, as nobody has EVER complimented me on my lashes lol.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! I have short and sparse lashes and this mascara makes them long and full without clumping. Granted my lashes do not look like "falsies," but I am still thrilled with the results. Love the brush too..its small and curved which makes it easier for me to access every lash.
This mascara gives full lashes and length. The brush works okay on my short & sparse Asian lashes. I find that it takes time to apply the product.
The only thing I dislike about this product that it smudges. Within 2 hours, this mascara runs to my lower eyelids. It looks terrible.
I'm not gonna say it sucks because I am almost sure that i dislike this only because I have really thin wispy lashes. I do like that it's a nice black but i wish it would've been a little thicker. Other than that, Colossal Waterproof is still my fave.
I'm not sure why a lot of people dislike this product but it's one of my favorites. I have been using it for a while now and I love it. I spend a ton on makeup & skincare products (probably too much) and have spent way more on mascara which I end up hating. This product (for me) does what it claims. I have very long lashes to begin with but this mascara in the darkest shade makes them stand out even more. It lasts all day and doesn't flake or clump. I do replace the bottle every couple of months as it does dry out quickly. For the price though it's no big deal. I will definitely keep using.
BF: "are you wearing fake eyelashes?? They look so thick and long" --> this pretty much sums up why this mascara is amazing.
1. wand: ive never had anything that wasn't a straight wand, so at first it was weird, but nothing too big. just make sure to look down before you start application and check that its facing the right way!
2. smudging: i haven't had any raccoon eyes since switching over to this mascara!
3. flaking: the ONLY con of this is that ive noticed black flakes in my undereye after it has dried. im not sure if it's from curling them afterwards or what. its kind of annoying, but i just dust it away, and im back to loving this stuff!
my eyelashes are already black so i can't really talk about darkening, but in terms of lengthening and volume, 2 thumbs up! i will definitely rebuy. ive already recommended it to my mom, since she noticed the difference in my lashes and demanded that i tell her what i did!
I was a bit hesitant at first to try since it didn't have the best rating here on MUA, but I'm glad I did.
For reference, yes I am using the NON-waterproof one. I don't like rubbing my eyes raw to take off waterproof, and I have a good bf that doesn't make me cry- so i'm good!
Holy grail mascara. Hands down.
To the point where after I tried it for a week? I purchased several extra tubes just in case they changed the formulation.
To the point where my bf has tried, several times, to pull my lashes off of my eyes because he believes they aren't real. He got a hand slap and a hiss for doing so, but what a compliment.
To the point where countless people have asked me which mascara I'm using--many of whom assumed, again, that the lashes weren't real.
The only complaint that I have is that the mascara itself doesn't have a middle ground as far as thickness. In the beginning, it's quite liquid--and then I have a good week of it being the perfect consistency. I tend to apply multiple coats (Tammy Faye was my lash mentor), so I need a formula that can withstand my obsessive layering. But...after that one week of mascara Valhalla?
Seventh layer of Hades, as the mascara seemingly dries out within a few days. Given the almost perfected lashes that it gives me, I don't mind going through tubes a bit more quickly that usual.
The brush is also a winning point for this mascara. It's light and thin enough to easily apply coats of product close to the lashline, and heavy enough to deposit a good layer of mascara.
A comparable formula, for those who don't like the Falsies brush, is L'Oreal's Lash Out--this brush is basically the same, but with more and firmer bristles.
Not one of my favorites. I was actually quite excited to try this, because applying lashes to myself took forever with my small asian eyes and I was hoping that this would give me the very full lash effect without wasting a lot of time. Boy was I disappointed It clumps, flakes, and takes so long to get off. Did not hold a curl well either. It was a pretty cheap mascara, but definitely not going to repurchase.
Icky, yucky, flaky mess. This product is way too wet for me. It flaked by mid morning and was just all in all pretty bad. I will not repurchase.
What a mess!! The formula is way too wet which causes my lashes to clump like no other mascara has done. I have longish lashes that have a bit of curl and this mascara actually STRAIGHTENS my lashes.
Even though it's called "Volum Express," I'm not seeing it. Clumping does not equal volume.
The only positive is it does add a bit of length, most likely from the little fibers in the mascara. Speaking of the fibers, I feel like they along with the wet consistency are the causes of the black dots I get on my eyelid (annoying since my makeup is done) and under my eyes when putting the mascara on.
The brush isn't really anything special. The shaft of it isn't sturdy which I think is a problem.
Really disappointed in this and definitely would not purchase again.
It looks nice, and the commercials made it seem amazing. It really does look like fake lashes. It made my lashes look and feel kind of... plastic coated. They also made them seem like spider legs, and the gaps were huge, it didn't clump on me as much as it did others, but it was really flaky. It also ruined my curl. Sometimes, I had to apply another mascara first, and then apply this one, but that was only because I liked the black colour, it defined my eyes. That is really the only nice thing I can say.
