This stuff is really difficult to work with. Using it on cheeks is annoying because you have to blend really fast or you end up with yucky streaks. Using it on the lips isn't much better - you have to apply it quite a few times to get the color to show up at all! The color payoff is slight and honestly not worth the trouble in my opinion. I also find most of Benefit's products to be rather overpriced :(
I'm a Benetint devotee mainly b/c it's just such a beautiful color on me. It's a versatile product that can be applied lightly for a weekend flush or more heavily for a special occasion. I recommend applying on bare skin or over tinted moisturizer or a dewey foundation. I begrudgingly have to reach for powder blush when I use powder foundation. I used Benetint on a girlfriend on her wedding day and it photographed beautifully, especially in b&w photos (classic effect).
I LIKE HARD CANDY TINTS BETTER. THEY COME IN A TUBE AND NOT AS WATERY.
This is ink in a bottle.
Not good if you have really pale skin, it just looks like you came of a treadmill or you had too much wine.
dries too quick and to be frank you shouldn't have to rush like mad to blend it in.
cheaper to buy artists ink- you get the same effect.
One bottle is enough to last a lifetime, unless you accidentally spill it in your makeup bag. Anyway, I bought a bottle because of the positive reviews. For starters, the price (USD35) for a bottle of red ink is far overpriced and packaging is not good because you will spill it if you put it in a bag or when flying.
However, I do like the rose colour on my light skin and pale lips. You have to apply it quickly because it dries FAST!! Put three dots on your cheeks and blend away immediately. I also apply it on my lips for a stained effect, and finish it off with the Benetint lipbalm. Can't say much about the staying power though
I really like Benefit's marketing from their names of the products to the copy they write describing them but I really have not been overly excited about the actual products for the price point. The benetint was not very long lasting to me and went on a bit splotchy. I tried to put it on before foundation and then it wasn't visible and putting it on after foundation looked even worse so I only used it when I didn't wear any base and it just gave me this embarrased look. For the money you get quite a bit of the product but there is nothing special about the product although the packaging is unique. I also tried Garden Botanika cheek stain and got the same result. Maybe my pores are too big for cheek stain. I am using Too Faced Bunny Carribean Bronzer and like the extra glow. It is a believable level of tan for me since I am very fair.
I agree with all the past posts about it being too watery, but, if anyone here lives in Australia, try Jemma Comsmetics (available from Priceline) and try their thing called Jemmatint in Peachu. It gives my beige skin a really netural glow and it is really mice on your lips.
I always feel too dressed up when I wear lipgolss for some reason, so when I use this on my lips, it doesnt add any shine, so they look and feel reall natural. I just use transparent chapstick over the top once its dry
It's too hard to apply for me. It doesn't blend easily, and it stains my fingers after. I am going to try the tip given below: applying it before foundation, and see how that goes. I like it on my lips more than on my cheeks. I really like the smell though.
The trick to this: put it on UNDER your foundation (and primer), but over your moisturizer. It will blend much better and easier, and last ALL DAY. I found that it looks really bad when put over my foundation, like, it looks too much like "rouge", too much like the red cheeks on an old china doll. But since I modified my application, so as to put it on under foundation, it really lasts all day and looks natural. (I use mineral makeup on top). I think the packaging is clever. But the product is way too over-priced. But. It will last forever since you only need 3 dots per cheek. Ive had mine for a couple months, and it still looks brand new. I dont like this on my lips, though. It looks as if Ive just eaten a cherry ICEE, and doesnt look good. I probably will buy this again, but it seems like a bottomless bottle. I doubt i'll ever get to the bottom.
It's too dangerous. If you're not quick enough it'll stain your skin, then youll have to take your foundation off and do it all over. Blah. Nice color though.
