I use EL cleansers, much better than this avene cleanser
the only reason why i bought it was because we were on our trip in italy and had to go to a local drug store for a cleanser
This stuff is great! It's my favorite cleanser, since I started using it I've gotten heaps less pimples and because it's by the brand Avene it's still really good for my sensitive skin and isn't harsh on it at all. I love it, and would recommend to anyone with oily or blemish prone skin.
I've been using this for a month now and it has been working quite well. I believe it's not that great of a cleaner on its own but using it with the rest of the Cleanance line makes it very effective.
I have mixed skin with acne tendency which can be very oily on my chin, forehead and nose while quite dry on the cheeks, and extremely sensitive, kicking up a fuss of awful proportions at the minimum "attack". I hardly break out anymore by using this line, even if I'm a bit of a scatterbrain and often wave off the recommended twice a day wash and just go to sleep already. I suppose if I used it all the time, even better results would be achieved. It cleans up well and doesn't leave the skin oily. I wear glasses and often they'd slip because of the amount of oil, but anymore, even 12 hours later.
There might be other great products out there, but this certainly works for me (I've tried Clinique in the past, with awful results). It's not at all expensive in my country (about 13€) and though I'm going to sample other lines, this one is a swell keeper.

This is a great cleanser! I think where some people get confused is by the fact that it is for oily-acne prone skin, it doesn't have the medical ingredients to treat acne - which, in my opinion cleansers should not. It says for "oily acne-prone skin" because it doesn't include ingredients that would clog pores (like oil)
A cleanser should clean the skin (hence the name), leaving it in good condition to apply a topical acne treatment and then moisturizer. This one does just that. It removes all dirt and makeup - I can even use it to remove my eye make up. I use it in conjunction with the Clean - AC moisturizer.
(please note my skin has hormonal acne flare ups once a month)

My dermatologist recommended that I buy this, because I have oily/acne-prone skin.
I actually like this product, despite the fact that it doesn't smell very nice. It does a good job of removing oil and dirt from my skin, and doesn't make me break out more than usual.
I only use it once a day though, otherwise it can be too drying. My preference is to use it at the end of the day, after I've taken my makeup off with a cleansing oil.
I have only used this for a few days, so I can't say if this will break me out yet, but i hope not...
I have really, really sensitive skin and easely get breakouts.... I have tried many cleansers, and it is very hard to find a cleanser that gives you that "clen feeling". This cleanser really clenses, has a rich foam without overdrying the skin and gives that "pure feeling" i'm looking for.
Still I don't think this is enough for getting rid of acne, cause it does not contain any active ingredients. Right now I've started with Aberela (tretinoin) , and this cleanser is mild/inactive enough for this treatment...( Before I used to use Panoxyl 10% wash for my acne, but that is active and more for treatment).
I'll update if this breaks me out! :)
Until that i can say that i Love it!
This is a great cleanser - but NOT for acne prone skin. I purchased this after a sales associate assured me it would keep my skin clear (used in conjunction with the Cleanance K gel) . I had been using a benzoyl peroxide wash for over a year and thought it would be great to use something gentler. Bad idea. This wash (and the gel) is way too gentle for anything worse than mild acne (i.e. the occasional blemish). After two weeks on the regimen my skin broke out like mad and I had to go see a derm to get it under control. Thankfully, he has helped me clear up my skin using Differin and some other products. However, I still use this Avene cleanser on a daily basis because it is sooo gentle on my sensitive skin and removes all traces of make-up quickly and easily. So it gets three stars for being a great cleanser but remember - it is not so great for acne. :) Also, the price is about $35 but it lasts forever! It is easy to get at least 6 months out of one bottle because you need such a small amount to wash with.
Edit (12/30/2010): I am upping this to five. Though it doesn't control acne it is by far the greatest wash I have ever used and I never have to worry about stray make up left behind. My HG for sure. It deserves five for that!

I am absolutely in love with this product. It makes a light foam on the skin (must be applied on wet face), which can be easily washed up. I am not allergic to it (event if my face is quite sensitive) and it makes my skin better! Definitely will repurchase - especially for that suitable price.
I remember using this about 18months ago and i'm not quite sure why I ever stopped using this! It is a really good cleanser for oily/ blemish prone skin. I only use this is the morning at the moment and use the avene extremely gentle cleanser in the evening after my mac cleanse off oil and I am loving this routine! I think if I was using this twice a day it might be too drying especially as it is getting colder.
So as I said I use this in the morning. I apply a very small amount to damp skin and massage this in to my face and then wash off. I follow with Avene's mattifying lotion. I feel that my skin is clearing up and I have very few new spots. It isn't drying or too harsh so if your skin is sensitive but you get breakouts as well this is still gentle enough for you to use. I would reccommend only using it once a day to start with.
Price wise it is around 8 pounds for 200mls. I purchased it from Boots on a 3for2 offer so depending on when you purchase it you might be able to grab it while its on offer. I know it is currently on offer.
Overall, give this product and brand a go if you have intolerant skin. There will be something for you! The products are quite pricey and I dont usually go for more high end skincare, I usually stick to drug store BUT since using this brand I have realised that that is why drugstore products never really worked for me due to the high alcohol content and unnecessary chemicals in them.
I hope this review helped and feel free to email me if you want to know anything else and I will be happy to try and help you :-)

I'm amazed at the number of positive reviews. This not only caused me to break out (I have a total of 12 NEW PIMPLES!), but it was also boring to use. IT foams upon application yet leaves behind a slightly greasy film. It doesn't clean, doesn't refresh, doesn't do anything really, other than cause congestion. Also, horrible smell. Now I really know not to take reviews too seriously.
