I am kind of in love with this little gem at the moment:) I tried this because it was new and the packaging is just soooo luxe! But when I put two coats of this on my lashes it volumizes, lengthens AND curls! I really think this will be in my mascara rotation for a long time to come. The price bothers me not as I always am willing to splurge for things that work so well. Could you find a cheaper alternative? Probably. But I'm sticking with this one.
**UPDATE** 12/09/10
I am so in love with this!!!! It takes the HG emblem away from my Lancome Hypnose Mascara! What makes it wonderful is it thickens my lashes, seperates and DOES NOT SMUDGE! (Sorry Hypnose). An I have never built up to more than two coats. I wonder what would happen...

This was better than I expected, but not exceptional enough for me to repurchase. I have long lashes so I look for formulas that will give me a lot of volume, a lot of drama, and maintain my curl. Despite the shape of the wand, which looked like another gimmick to me, I purchased this based on the reviews and also because I was curious.

The color is very pigmented, very rich, a true inky black. It applies easily enough given the odd, bumpy shape of the wand. I didn't find it to be too bulky or clumsy to wield. It seems to enhance length without weighing my lashes down too much, even though it doesn't offer any additional length. Not a problem for me though since that's not what I'm looking for. It doesn't smudge once it has set, and it washes off with my regular facial cleanser. I didn't need to use an additional makeup remover. No flaking either.

But overall the cons outweigh the pros. It's a very wet formula so it tended to transfer quickly onto the eyelid and everywhere else while it dried. A single coat isn't enough to be remarkable. It performs like any other low to mid-range mascara with only one coat. It can't be built up too much because after about two coats its starts clumping like crazy and leaves my lashes looking very stringy and limp. Also a downside of a thin, wet formula. The lashes slid together and turned into clumpy spikes. So the volume is only ever just mediocre.

As far as volumizing mascaras go, I've had better luck with Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill, and Chanel Inimitable and Inimitable Intense. I'm going to keep this one though because I think it'll work better layered with another formula. I won't repurchase.

I have stuck with drugstore mascaras for a long time, and I always told myself that the brand didn't matter. It's true that there are drugstore mascaras that are fantastic. However, this mascara just blew me away :D
I'm currently just using a sample of the mascara because I ran out of the full size. Now, before I start, I'm Asian, but my eyelashes are naturally quite long and curly, and this just makes them so much better!
It makes my lashes so much longer and thicker. ITS BEAUTIFUL HAHA :D
Also, it stays on FOREVER. It doesn't smudge. :)
I love the effect it gives to my eyes and I WILL DEFINITELY repurchase!

Fantastic mascara. I have naturally long lashes, but age has taken it's toll and sparseness has set in. I have had nothing but compliments about my lashes when I wear Extase.

This is my favorite mascara for going out. It makes my lashes look amazing almost like false lashes. I love how long and full this makes them look.

Let me start by saying that I've tried most mascaras from high-end brands (YSL, Dior, Chanel, Guerlain, Givenchy, Lancome, Estee Lauder, Helena Rubenstein, Nina Ricci, Shiseido, you name it) and i'm the kind of person who thinks that any mascara that doesn't give that false lash effect is a waste of money. By the way this is going to be a long review so please be patient :)

VOLUME: This is supposed to be a volumizing mascara but it really doesn't add any volume! Actually, in terms of volume, my lashes are better off without this mascara than with it.

LENGTH: Lengthening power really breathtaking. I've been blessed with naturally very long lashes and with Extase they look twice as big something i never thought it would be possible to happen with any mascara.

CURL: Curling power is so-so, can't say non-existant but nothing impressive either.

SMUGING-LASTING POWER: Thankfully, no smuging. Yesterday i was wearing it for 15 hours during which i went to university, work and then straight to the gym and even though all my make up dissapeared from my face, my lashes looked perfect, as if i had just reapplied mascara.

CLUMPING: oh my gawd YES... This has to be the worst clumping effect i've ever gotten in my entire life. First time i tried it, i was really in a hurry so i applied it very quickly and as a result my lashes got literally stuck with each other after just one coat.

CONDITIONING: Dior's Extase claims that with the SR38 Patended Ceramid it contains, nurishes your eye lashes promoting their general health while reconstructing the damaged ones. I've been using this product for 3 weeks and i can tell you that it definately works. I've started experiencing less lash loss and even without the mascara, they look and feel much stronger and fuller.

PRICE: 32 Euro.

PACKAGING: Very extravagant pale golden colour covered all over with the Dior logo. It does appeal to me since i'm a show-off :p

EXTRAS: As all Diorshow mascaras, the colour is very deep dramatic black. Also length and curl last all day. However, don't worry, the product won't dry your lashes, hold is very elastic. Very easy to remove it at the end of the day aswell.

TIP no.1: It is well-known that one of the best tricks to get even more volume payoff from a mascara, is applying it with zig-zag moves. But you'd better not try it with this one, because you'll get the worst clumping of your life. In order to avoid clumping, you have to be very careful, apply very slowly and if your lashes do clump, use a second brush designed for seperation to get rid of it (i use Chanel's Exceptionnel mascara brush). Extase is not the kind of mascara you want to use when you wake up in the morning and rush to do your make-up before you go to work.

TIP no.2: I'm the kind of person that never applies mascara without eyelash primer but this is a big no-no in this case. When i did it, after 2 hours, the mascara literally started melting off my lashes. It was a nightmare. For reference, i tried it two times with two different lash primers, Cils Booster by Lancome and Prep + Prime Lash by MAC. Same results with both products.

TIP no.3: Since Extase adds no volume (on my lashes at least) i use another mascare as first coat to get volume and Extase on top to get the -truly impressive- length it offers.

OVERALL RATING: On the one hand, Extase has the HUGE benefit of adding superior length, rich black colour, zero smuging, having great lasting power AND conditioning lashes at the same time but on the other hand, it adds really no volume, it clumps like hell and takes a really long time to be applied correctly. If you want a false lash effect from your mascara, like i do, you'll have to use a (real) volumizing mascara as "primer"(i use Lancome's Hypnose Onyx or YSL's Effet Faux Cils), Extase on top and have a 3rd clean brush next to you to seperate lashes upon the first signs of clumping. Maybe i'm crazy but i will rebuy.

I am a tried & true Diorshow girl, and always go back to the original formula after being disappointed by Iconic and other mascaras. However, I wanted to give this a try before buying another tube of the original and am so glad I did. The results are gorgeous and it lengthens and volumizes my lashes without flaking, smudging or making them hard or stiff. The formula is definitely wetter than Diorshow and it will clump up if you don't apply quickly. However, you don't need more than 2 coats of this for a fab look and I don't typically spend 5 minutes putting mascara on so I haven't had an issue with clumping. I wear contacts and my eyes are very sensitive, but I have had no problem with this irritating my eyes while it's on or after I take it off. The gold tube is so cute, and I would definitely repurchase.

I hated DiorShow and was reluctant to try this one. I love it, however! The formula is good, has "good stuff" for the health of your lashes. While it does have staying power, I wouldn't say it is difficult to remove. I use Nude oil cleanser all over and with really warm water this mascara comes off pretty easy. No flaking while wearing it and my average lashes look great.

I am so unimpressed with this. Tried something new as my faux cils is flaking so much and I hate how dry it gets so quickly. But this is a big time fail. First, the formula is very wet which means it looks like I have 5 lashes cause they're all clumped together. Even my trusty tweezerman comb was no match for those clumps. It dries sooo hard that you can't layer for nighttime later. I get decent length and curling, however absolutely no volume. Wand is weird. You get huge globs all over it even after scraping. And, of course, the final straw is the smudging under my eyes. Back to Sephora it goes!

I love this mascara!!! I have received many compliments on my lashes since I've started using this! My co-worker even asked me if I was wearing falsies! I agree with others that this may not thicken as well as some other mascaras in the market, but it still does a sufficient job in volumizing and it lengthens extremely well, which is exactly what I wanted! Before this, I was using the waterproof CG Lash Blast, and while it gave volume, it didn't lengthen too much and it was impossible to remove! So it didn't really give me those pretty dolly lashes. Although Extase is not waterproof, it doesn't smudge or budge at all, and it comes off easily with cleanser/ eye makeup remover. I will have to see how this mascara holds up in the colder winter months when my eyes tend to become more watery!
