Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination, Medium, Not Sure Hair: Black, Other, Other Eyes: Black

Background on me: Asian, NC30 skintone, normal/not sensitive skin with acne scarring.
I used this mostly as a setting foundation for my BB cream, or on those days when I wanted a really light face. I bought matte over normal thinking it would keep more oils at bay. I think I might have been color-matched a smidge too yellow, which may have affected my opinion of the product.

TEXTURE/FEEL: Super finely milled, this powder is a dream to apply. You can't really apply too much, and the more you buff, the lovelier the finish. Definitely matte (which.. aren't all powders matte?)
COVERAGE: That being said, I wish it had a little bit more coverage. I found that I didn't get the flawless look endorsed by those models on commercials, even with concentrated application via concealer brush. No matter how much I piled on, my acne scars still peeked through.
LONGEVITY: This lasted all day on me - UNLESS i rubbed my face (i.e., applying cream blusher/cheek tint) then it was just gone. And it's already such sheer coverage on me to begin with, it was just hopeless.
PACKAGING: Great twist and lock feature keeps your powder from spilling everywhere, great for travel or if you're a klutz and you drop things all the time.

CONSIDER IF:
- You don't need a lot of coverage
- You need a matte finish

SKIP IF:
- You want heavy duty coverage
- You rub/touch your face a lot.

You can get the remaining Matte Foundation out of the container by unscrewing the bottom (you'll see that it's recessed a little). I wouldn't have known this except for a QVC review.

Bare minerals is so popular, and it's for a good reason. It's a fantastic foundation. I have to be careful with what I put on my skin, and bare minerals is the only foundation I will use right now. It's fantastic - it doesn't feel heavy or clog pores all the while giving you awesome coverage. If you can find it, I recommenced buying the starter kit for 60$ - it has 2 mini sized shades of the foundation, a mineral veil setting powder, and a bronze, and three awesome brushes! I'm often weary when a product gets so much hype, but the hype about this one is true!

Let me start off by saying I have the oiliest skin ever, and to make it worse, I break out once or twice a week, and suffer from congested pores. I have been on the hunt for a foundation that gives coverage to my acne scars and uneven skintone as well as mattifying my face. i have tried a lot of powder foundations, but they have all broken me out. This foundation, however, was different. I absolutely LOVE this foundation. I bought this for around $30 at Sephora. This is pretty expensive for me, but it's absolutely worth it. Makeup that sits on your skin, makeup you can breathe in, makeup that doesn't break me out and makeup that is actually good for the skin. I have been wearing this for almost a month and my skintone has improved!!! I am VERY surprised!!! To apply, I take a cheap kabuki brush, tap product onto the lid and swirl, then apply. Make sure you apply in circular motions intead of left-right-left-right. if I need more coverage on a certain spot, I just take a small concealer brush, apply, then buff with a kabuki. Honestly, this foundation has changed my mind about makeup. I have tried everything to improve the condition of my skin and for once in my life my skin has stopped breaking out and has finally calmed down. I do have to say, I don;t believe this gives a full coverage. more like a medium coverage, but thats the way I like it. I don't like makeup that covers every skingle flaw, but makeup that evens out my skin and covers minor scars. Thank you, bare minerals, you've helped my skin so much! I highly recommend to those will oily and acne prone skin.

I have been a loyal MAC lover for years, but after having my baby and returning to work I wanted to try something new. The SA at Ulta told me to get the original formula in a Medium shade, but I knew I needed Fair and wanted to try the Matte. My face looks great! I have ruddy combo skin with some enlarged pores and redness in my cheeks and this covered well and lasted all day. Hours after application I didn't end up with foundation caked in my eyelids or smudges from wearing sunglasses. Really great stuff!

I really enjoyed the original BE foundation and used it for a good 2 years straight. When this product released, I immediately went to purchase it solely for the improved packaging.
I'll begin with the packaging, because it's a huge improvement. The original packaging spilled out way too much product onto the lid while using it, and if you traveled at all with it, the next time you open it up you have enough powder accumulated all over the lid to last 5 days. The new "Click Lock Go" packaging greatly reduced the amount of wasted and spilled product. The only downside is that since there are fewer holes for the product to sift through, once you get down to the bottom of the jar it becomes very difficult to get the last of the product out.
As far as the actual foundation goes, I really don't see that much of a difference between this and the original formula. I never found the original to make me shiny or oily like many have. I think this foundation is a little more dry (hence the name Matte), but it doesn't do anything incredible to control my oiliness. I have combination skin that isn't usually too problematic; I generally only blot my face once a day if I'm wearing my makeup for more than 8 hours. I still have to blot when I use this, but it doesn't make my face crazy greasy or anything.
The coverage with this is light to medium. I've tried really packing this on, and I can never get full coverage. I generally prefer full coverage, which is why I switched back to liquid foundations, but this is great on minimal makeup days or if I know I'm going to be out in the heat. The thing I like most about this foundation is how lightweight it is. I really feel like I have nothing on when I wear this.
This can accentuate dry spots, so when my skin is particularly dry (usually in the winter), I don't reach for this. When my skin is feeling more normal or oily though, this glides on really nicely and I've never had application issues. The people at BE try to make you believe that their brushes are the only ones that will properly disperse the product, but don't believe them. I usually use my Too Faced Kabuki brush, but I've used other powder, blush, and even bronzer brushes to apply this in a pinch and they all work fine.
Another thing I don't love about this product is that even though this isn't technically a powder, it does leave a powder finish. It's not cakey or drying, but I find it difficult to blend cream or liquid products on top of this. Cream blushes and liquid highlighters just don't look as nice over top of this as they do over liquid foundations, and blending them over this can be a little splotchy. I have no problem using powders over this, though.
Overall, I do like this product. Though I normally like a full coverage, flawless finish, this is a great product to use if I want to give my skin a break. You get enough coverage to even out your face, but your natural colorings will still shine through. I love that this is lightweight and basically transfer-resistant, and I'm very happy with the new packaging. This isn't my everyday, go-to foundation, but I definitely break it out quite often.

My skin does react good on this product, I dont clearly see an improvement in my skin except for a healthy glow, however, it doesnt break me out like other foundations do.

I only would like a bit more coverage.
Furthermore, the oil on my face does come through after about 3 hours but I guess no foundation out there could stop that.

Compared to the other products on the market I will repurchase this again because it doesnt have a bad effect on my skin and I do want to take good care for my skin.

I'm VERY impressed with this product, I fell like I finally found the perfect makeup for me. I have super sensitive acne prone skin and literally everything breaks me out. I've had terrible experiences with some foundations and makeup products. But when my friend talked to me about Bare Minerals I thought I'd give it a shot and I'm so glad I did. This is awesome stuff and not only doesn't break me out, it literally improves my skin, when i remove all my makeup and cleanse my skin I can tell it is less irritated, red and more clear. :D so far I'm very VERY impressed with the results, I think I'll stick with this product for my whole life <3 continued >>

I've tried the BE original foundation, and was curious to see if the matte version was any different. I actually have an unconventional way of using this. I first dust it all over my face prior to liquid foundation, which helps it stick to my skin and keeps my skin looking matte for longer. Definitely nothing miraculous, but prolongs the "dewyness" from appearing as quickly. I have NC25 skin, sensitive, acne-prone, this doesn't tend to break me out. I use it in light. As a stand-alone foundation, I wouldn't be able to use it because of the light coverage it has for my dark pigmentations from acne scars.
