Finally, a good product with high SPF! I live in high altitude Colorado so I wear this all time time to protect my fair skin. It doesn't make me break out and goes on smooth. Looks fine under foundation. It looks skin-tone when it comes out of the tube but it disappears on my skin. Sometimes it gives an unpleasant, almost gray color on my skin but that's only if I put too much by accident. You only need a little to go a long way.
I really want to like this product but I just don't. It's got zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as part of the sunscreen in it and a very high spf. Which is good. But I find that it's too emollient for my oily skin and the physical sunscreen elements leave a whitish cast on my very tan skin that never soaks in and looks metallic. It's tinted to tone down the whiteness and that tint comes off on clothes. I think on people who have paler and drier skin than me might really like it. I'm using up my tube of it but won't repurchase.
I don't use this on my face as I find it very greasy. I only use it on my eyes, and for that function, this is an excellent product. It has a high SPF and chock full of antioxidants. I have very sensitive eyes and wear contacts, and my eyes tear very easily. I have had no problems with this product stinging or burning my eyes. It moisturizes the eye area very well and the slight tint brightens my eyes. I do have to apply some powder or eyeshadow base so my eyeshawdow doesn't crease. I'm in my 30s and have no lines or crows feet, and I have this product to thank. (Another great eye product is Organic Apoteke's rejuvenating eye cream. This eye cream along with Clinique's Super City Block SPF 40 have really helped me fight the fine lines and wrinkles.)

I really like Clinique--- A LOT-- but this product made my face greasy and breakout. I don't think I will be purchasing this product again but I will still continue to use Clinique products.
Update: I tried this product again to see if my original opinion was wrong....nope. It is gross, greasy and doesn't do anything for me.

last summer and the summer before, i loved this sunscreen. id already been through one tube of it and ending up buying another. i have olive skin but this product blended in well and left my face looking nice all day. i have acne-prone skin which was previously unaffected by using this product, no blocked pores or outbreaks or anything like that. after taking a break from this sunscreen for a while and returning to use it again this year, my skin hates it. i break out and my skin feels very suffocated wearing only a small amount.
i think the price is good, the squeeze tube is hygienic and the tube is small enough to fit into a make up bag too, its just a shame my skin doesnt agree with use of this product now.
I recieved a sample of Clinique Super City Block spf 40 to try, i've decided to try out as many tinted moiturizer with spf as well as sunscreen as i possibly can before summer. My skin is severely sensitive to most sunscreens and other chemicals, im talking about my face puffing up and swelling up, turning bright red, stinging and burning like it is on fire! So before i spend anymore money on anymore products i need to try a sample first.
Surprisingly i have NOT had any issues at all with the Clinique Super City Block spf 40! No burning, swelling or even tears. I decided to be brave after my cheeks didnt sting or burn and i applied it under my eyes, after 45 min nothing, so i decided to apply it to eyelids, nothing, no tear, no burning!
I also really like the feel of this liquidy cream, it goes easy, is easy to spread around, at first it does feel really icky and greasy but in just a few seconds to a minute it soaks up really well and i didnt have an oil slicked face. It left my skin feeling very moisturized and soft with a bit of a sheen that made my skin look like it had a healthy glow to it. It does have a bit of a tint to it, but nothing at all noticable, and my skin is as white as white can get, im so white i glow in the dark! So the tint is very sheer i didnt even notice any color on my skin, so if you want a bit of color you wont get any from this, but it did make my skin look really nice and a little evened out and toned down some of the red in my cheeks, but i found it to sheer to cover up any imperfections, but it did seem to shrink or hide the size of my pores.
As i am writing this review at the end of the day, im feeling my face and it feels soft and not at all greasy, i didnt feel the need to rush home and wash this stuff of my face at all today, it stayed nice and fresh and not gross feeling, i almost forgot i was wearing it, and it lasted all day without coming off.
It has a very light sunscreen scent, not coconutty but just sunscreeny, and the scent disapears after you rub it into the skin. I have been using it now for about a week and a half and so far no pimples or rashes.
It contains 8.8% zinc oxide
7.5% octinoxate
6.6% titanium dioxide
2.0% octisalate
I may buy this as my sunscreen for the summer, i like the way it feels, and the high spf, im just not sure how good the spf quality actually is in these brands, they are good at decieving their customers, (i used to work for EL and a few other high end companies) and at the moment i cant afford the cost for the size, but if i dont find something comparable or better i will shell out the cash for this, it works so good with my skin.
LOVE it! Besides being an awesome sunscreen, its also an awesome primer. I can't believe how much better my foundation looks with this stuff on.
Side note, I really don't know why people think this stuff tints your skin. I'm very pale with yellow undertones and once I rub this product in there is no tint, just a smoother overall look. I think the coloring in SCB is just so you don't get that casper-white cast that high spf sunscreens sometimes cause...
I can't tell you how disappointed I am that the SPF 25 has apparently been discontinued. Within two days of using this new version of the CityBlock, my face itched and was breaking out. I had to discontinue using it, and am searching for a new, gentler under-makeup sunscreen.
What a shame! This is the first time I'm been so disappointed by a Clinique product.

I really like this product. I like the high SPF, the slight tint and the finish.
I have oily skin and surprisingly it has not left my skin shiny. The tint manages to even out my skin before I apply foundation, and it hasn't broken me out.
Great primer or even on it's own!
I use this sunscreen as my foundation primer.
It's slightly tinted, well to me at least, and once applied it does cover up some problem areas. This product has a few downfalls. It leaves you with oily-looking skin, making your face look extremely shiny, which is not pretty at all. It comes off with sweat, once you're in a humid area, it will start looking absolutely disgusting. It will streak, smear and make you look like a complete mess. But wearing this as a primer, is OK i guess, the SPF is fairly high, which is great because i have fair skin and burn VERY VERY easily. I wouldn't recommend this to people with dry skin because it isn't very moisturizing and will flake alot on dry areas.
