Oooooooooh... this is good! It is a fragrance of contradictions: The overall mood is very deep and dark, but there is that lush, figgy quality that also makes it very fresh, or at least refreshing. Amazingly, it is a tropical oriental. If you'll excuse the abstraction, most orientals are gourmand (base heavy) and have a consistently "low", weighing down quality. This one has a hierarchy, so out of the deep, grounded base comes a "spike" of green, making a delicious fragrance that is both full-bodied and lithe, warm and cool, sensual and subtle. I associate a snake with it, in the best possible way. It does not cange much througout the day, except for becoming fainter, and lasts an adequate amount of time. Final note, it certainly is exotic.

Give this a 4- although I really like it al lot- cause I think it's very synthetic. This is great for an evening out in a trendy bar or suberb club in chic clothes (Versace?) Ladylike fragrance, without being snob. I don't know why, not because of it's name, but I think this is only for people with dark hair, tanned look,... I can not imagine that this would be good on a blond hair, blue eyes type. I find it VERY sexy, and men too! Even though in Paris everyone almost wears fragrance, this one getts attention- in a very good way. Men really do find it a reason to start a conversation. It attracts gorgeous men. Last long, but it doesn't get better with the time. Not my every day fragrance, but very good on a late night, with a sexy men, nice clothes and enough money :-) Will buy again for sure. Well done, Versace!
Oooohh la la! This smells like sex in a bottle, in a classy expensive way! It is definitely "noir"; deep, smokey, sultry, and with a surprising tropical coconut scent that adds just enough of sweetness! It's a "floriental" and would be perfect for the cold winter or a night on the town. Ahhh, this smells divine and it lasts! I am so glad that I found this on sale for half of the original price at Shoppers Drug Mart. $30 for a 1.0 fl.oz, WHAT A STEAL! Yes oh yes I'm gonna repurchase for sure!
Versace doesn't seem to support its perfumes very well. It's website doesn't even list fragrances anymore. Its discontinued list is long, and its current perfumes are relatively young.
That's why I hate to admit that I like Crystal Noir as much as I do. The website once listed its notes as gardenia and oxygen. Now that the website no longer lists fragraces, the notes are shown by retailers as gardenia, amber, orange blossom, peony, sandalwood, and musk.
I would be more likely to believe the original list. Although oxygen is an imaginary note, so is gardenia. (There is no "real" gardenia essential oil in perfumery.) This perfume is probably made entirely of chemicals, but they are nice-smelling chemicals, darn it.
And the diffusing characteristic of the base is top-notch. I doubt it's sandalwood, those are almost always synthetic. It's too light and transparent to be real amber. And musk? All musks are synthetic nowadays. So, O.K., let's say it's an "oxygen" note. No problem. It's some chemical with wonderful diffusing characteristics like the old nitro musks that are now banned. I like it. It is a light floral with some strange tropical notes overlaid on the most incredible, pseudo-musk-sandalwood-oxygen base that rises off your skin like air. I give it a thumbs-up, even though I would rather spend more money on a perfume with quality, natural ingredients. Versace Crystal Noir smells lovely.

Another one I thought I would love, but don’t. I too, am a Hypnotic Poison lover and Crystal Noir seemed right up my alley. My verdict: not sweet enough for me. All I get is earthy, spicy amber and sandalwood with a pinch of orange blossom, so faint it’s only there to keep Crystal Noir from smelling like mothballs. The orange blossom isn’t the bright sweet ray of light in an darker fragrance I thought it would be. I would be satisfied if I even got a creamy gardenia, but where the heck is it? Crystal Noir ends up being a more mature, sophisticated fragrance on me and reminds me a lot of a heavier version of Bulguari’s Omnia. I’ll pass.
I LOVE this perfume!!! This is so for me, seeing i loveeeee deep, sensual, sexy, sweet/spicy fragrances, and this how i find this one. Love it! (not too good describing ingredients of fragrances, but only the way they seem to me with adjectives i'm afraid!) Overall, fantastic perfume!

LOVE IT! My current signature scent... it kinda reminds me of Marc Jacobs for men, there's that coconutty, figgy quality to it. It's quite womanly, not particularly sweet to my nose, more... woodsy? Lasting power is pretty darn good (I use EDP not EDT). To me it smells pretty unique though... stands out from many other scents that are currently popular within my age group (I'm early 20s). Can see myself purchasing this exclusively for quite some time... And bottle is lovely (the cap looks so decadent!) EDIT 9/3/07: Ok, I don't know what's happened but I've got bored of this scent quite quickly. I must say this is the scent I've had the most compliments on, ever - they keep rolling on in. But somehow I don't look forward to spraying this on in the morning. I (might) make it through my current bottle, but then I think i'm going to switch back to Givenchy Very Irresistible for a while. Crystal Noir was an intense, but brief, fling for me ;)

Can I tell you how much I love this perfume? I was like obsessed with it for a year before I finally bought it. I'm not a real "perfumey" type person, but I fell in love with this one. I have to admit, I'm a sucker for packaging, and this bottle with it's ginormous amethyst top and smoky purple bottle makes it an easy sell. BUt the scent is what made me stalk every make up counter for a year. It is grown up, but not old-lady; it is sexy, but not in a desperate, trying too hard sort of way. It's too heavy for spring/summer i'd say, but I love it so much I still wear it then anyway.

Love this one - Soft, sultry scent. Nice for fall/winter & on me is not too overpowering; but one has to be judiscious while spritzing! The packaging is too, too cool! Nice that it is all glass & not some plastic crap - very funky yet ultra elegant! Just wish there was a pure perfume form & body creme. Completely fabulous!! I will be purchasing more of this one! continued >>
