My friend recommended this to me to help out with my skin that's been exposed to harsh, Canadian winters. I was skeptical at first due to many reasons but I was desperate so I went out and bought a pot of it. Once applied...it tingled and I had to get used to the smell. After some time washing it off, I finally looked at my skin and I was blown away at how clean and moisturized it looked and felt. I had a glow that I haven't seen since this summer and it even made some of my pores disappear. Definite re-purchase and it's made me wanting to try more LUSH products =)

This turned out to be such a special treat!! I absolutely love this mask. I have never used Lush products before. I was out Christmas Shopping at a local mall, and there was a Lush store. I have seen Lush online and have read reviews in the past. I went into the local Lush store, and I was speaking with the sales reps about what the best products were, and 2 of them said that the masks are what got them hooked. They store their masks in these little fridges, and the masks sell for $7.75 a pot. I decided to leave the store, finish shopping, and then come back and buy some masks to try. I am 39, and I have acne-prone skin.
My skin is combo/oily. It isn't too oily though (as most oily-skin products dry me out way too much). I currently use Jan Marini, which is great skincare for me. It doesn't stop me from breaking out completely, but I've found that if I don't eat enough fresh fruits and vegetables or take whole food supplements, I am going to break out. But, I do find that the skincare keeps the breakouts under control and helps them heal quickly. I have been really stressed out lately because of the economy and the fact that my job is going to be offshored. And, my skin has reflected this with some cystic acne and the resulting red acne scars. The Jan Marini products I use everyday are the Bioglycolic facial cleanser, C-Esta cream, transitions (which helps with Cystic acne), and Bioclear. I have just been using my sunscreen as a moisturizer during the day. I find that I don't need a moisturizer at night -- even though I do have Transformation Cream and Age Intervention Cream (which is way too thick for my skin). And, I am happy with Jan Marini skincare other than the price being really high.
But, back to lush. So, I was looking at the masks and trying to figure out which to buy, and the sales rep suggested Brazen Honey and Cosmetic Warrior. She advised that Brazened Honey was her favorite as well as the Lettuce Mask. But, in looking at my skin, she suggested cosmetic warrior (which I haven't tried yet). I used Brazened Honey last night. The mask really does look kind of like dijon mustard. It smells strongly of fennel to me, but I really like fennel, so I don't mind that at all. It is very textured, so it came out of the tub kind of thick. I spread it on my face and I left it on for about 15 minutes as I read product reviews online. I did have a tingling effect on my skin, but it felt cool and fresh, and I smelled the fennel strongly. When I went to wash it off, it was mostly dried. I wet a washcloth with hot water and left it on my face for a minute to help steam and loosen the mask. It fell off in clumps and did take some scrubbing to come completely off. My skin felt so clean and soft afterwards. I did feel slightly dry in a couple of areas, but that was probably because I left the mask on for too long and let it dry. So, I followed up with a little bit of my gorgeous moisturizer sample. When I woke up today, I looked in the mirror, and I was impressed with the results. My skin feels slightly oily in the T-Zone and I can still see my acne scars as those take months to clear up. But, my skin does not look dull and congested. This really is a great product for a great price!
And, I was reading reviews for another lush mask. Somebody suggested freezing the leftovers that you can't use before the expy date. So, I am going to get some saran wrap about 3 days before the mask expires and plop a portion in each bit of saran wrap and freeze it. Then, when I want to use a mask, I'll just pull it out and leave it to thaw for 5 or 10 minutes and put it on my face so that there is no waste. Thanks for that suggestion!! I think I'm going to use Cosmetic Warrior today, so I'll probably review that product pretty soon! And, I'll continue trying out gorgeous to see if I must own it!!

it smells good and is good for exfoliating, but it stings and i could only use it once a week otherwise it was too strong for my combo-sensitive spot-prone skin. won't repurchase. may work for someone who doesn't have as sensitive skin, though.
I am a total LUSH junkie, but this is the first of their products that has disappointed. While the smell is good, the product is incredibly gritty and stings! I didn't even finish my pot (good thing I have a few empties to cash in for a new mask). I'll be returning to Crash Course.
Overall I only gave this a product 3 out of 5, not because it's a terrible product to use, but for a few inconvenience factors.
As most people have stated you only get a shelf life of about three weeks for this product. I actually didn't think the product was too pricey, you do get alot of product for what you pay, but you feel alot of pressure to use it all up otherwise it goes to waste. Also the hassle of having to put it in the fridge all the time is abit annoying, I must admit I did leave it out once or twice, mask seemed fine.
With that being said if this kind of stuff doesn't bother you then you might enjoy using this mask, as it is not a bad mask, it leaves my skin refreshed and clean, but I'm too lazy to have to store it away. Good to try once, if it's for you great!
AWESOMMEEE!! Left my face really clean, clear, and bright looking. The most effective way to use this mask is to put it on extremely thick and wait for it to dry completely so that you can kind of crack it off (sorta like if you had put a cast on your face and then tried to crack and take it off in one whole piece). I think removing it that way really helps lift off the toxins/dirt much better than rinsing it off with water. I got the idea to do it that way from my esthetician who always removes my face masks that way.
CONS: The shelf life and the amount you get kinda sucks... it expires in like 3 weeks and you only get a small amount for what you pay. The pot it comes in kinda bothers me too because of contamination factors when scooping it out.
I tried this face mask at my friend's house, as she had recently made a ridiculously huge haul at Lush and had picked up a couple of their masks. The other one was Cupcake, which given the ingredients, I figured would be a bit too drying for my face, so I decided to give this one a go.
From the first few moments of having it on my face, I knew I was in love.
I'm not sure how to describe the smell... it definitely did remind me of honey, but better. Herbal, as well. I found it quite pleasing.
I suppose it's the fact that the masks are refrigerated, but the coolness is so soothing to the skin. It's almost instant relief... even if you aren't in need of any relief!
This is supposed to be a detoxifying and deep-cleansing mask. This is true, and I feel it aided with this, but unlike many other treatments out there that have these claims, Brazened Honey did not leave my face feeling parched, tight and uncomfortable. It did not cause me any inflammation, stinging, redness, nor did it cause any breakouts.
I love BB Seaweed, but I think I like this one more. I was left with radiant, silky smooth, toned-looking skin. I don't have visible pores, but if there were any slight ones... well, this blasted them into oblivion. My face looked flawless!
I used this immediately after a very long international flight. Flying always causes my skin to become severely dehydrated-- it freaks out essentially. I didn't deal with the usual airplane aftermath this time around, and I feel it was due to this mask. It definitely seemed to help quench my parched, stressed skin and balance things out. I had a few minor spots that were starting to erupt, and those had disappeared the morning after I used this.
This was only from one use. I'd really love to give this a go again, and again, and again. I'm really pleased with my first experience with this mask!
this was my first lush mask. I absolutely love it! The smell was so pungent at first, but after a couple of more applications, I have gotten quite used to the smell and wish I could detect it more! The mask really does a good job of cleaning while not stripping the skin of moisture. I pretty much used this every day after work since they give you so much and then I didn't want to waste so much product. I feel it has contributed to the overall improvement of my skin and will continue to purchase this.
I didn't have high hopes for this mask the result has been surprisingly impressive.
Pros:
-It really does exfoliate and I think it does so without being abrasive as long as you wash off the mask gently and carefully
-Very Moisturising. For a detox/deep cleansing mask, it did its cleasning function without leaving my face dried out like other deep cleanse/mud masks have in the past.
-Helps with pores. I've noticed that some of the blackheads on my nose have disappeared.
-Seems to have sped up the disappearance of my most blemish scars
-It's fun to put on!
Cons
-Messy to wash off (but only if you're not careful)
-Stings for a while when you first put it on (but I guess that means the mask is working)
-The smell is very strong and aromatic - takes some getting used to (but again, no biggie)
In all my face was left feeling very cleansed, moisturised and baby soft. I cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise everyday but the mask really did improve the tone and texture of my skin - it hasn't been this smooth for a long time! I'm so buying this again.
UPDATE 30/07/2008. 6 masks later, my skin has totally changed from tired, oily/dry and lacklustre, to more natural and healthy looking, and soft and glowing. This is a definite HG!!

This is supposed to be a detoxifying mask for people who abuse their bodies through smoke, drink, and unhealthy diet. It is a bright yellow colour and contains among other things, kaolin clay, free range eggs, rosemary, honey, lime juices, spices. Contains seven Ayurvedic herbs to deep cleanse. I don't have very sensitive skin, but I was worried I would have to wash it off right away as it immediately began to tingle. However, the burning feeling subsided and I left it on the requisite 10 minutes. The mask washes off easily and the little walnut scrubbies give a bit of exfoliation. Surprisingly my skin looked great but a little dehydrated, nothing that a bit of moisturizer wouldn't fix. However, I wouldn't purchase again as this is a fairly 'strong' mask. Lush recommends you follow this with "Afterlife" moisturizer which is another detoxifier.
